Good question. The tendency is to Peep like we Tweet. However, Peepeth is fundamentally different. The UI should better reflect that peeping is not a toy :) How else can that be communicated?
So if you really want to maintain the finality of peeps, then I've recommended an option to have the confirmation window be always on. You could also add a bit more friction to peeps via UI like a slide-to-peep instead of a button.

Trying to see the value of not having an edit or delete function and can't help but be reminded of the world of Photoshop before the history palette or undo existed. Do we really want to live in a world where people aren't free to make mistakes? cc @bevan @mattjohnson
I like the idea of being able to delete or modify a peep before it gets posted to the blockchain.

Love what I'm seeing there!
It looks so good :D I wonder if there will be some #crypto related missions in there...
Holy wow #Cyberpunk2077 gameplay footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euqbMkM-QQk&t=690s
Sounds good to me! Peepeth is an early implementer with this idea by covering transaction costs for those with a mosquito badge :D

Same here. Would be nice to be able to put them into a channel, ie #music

Hi Daniel, appreciate your willingness to support! Yes, darkmode is needed, and on the way. Have sent you a message.
+1 on night mode. I use it on both Twitter and Reddit.

@Bevan peepeth.com should be registered as a Brave publisher https://brave.com/publishers/ So when people visit via the Brave browser the site will get some BAT tokens too. The more time they spend here the more BAT tokens the site will earn.
Whoops, found this when I searched for "Brave" peeps. This definitely needs to be bumped in priority as verifying literally takes a few minutes >.< https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVuQM7lYqUs

right, I'm just saying work with them to get ad placements on BAT to have an option for users to collect more BAT.
For sure, an opt-in ad mode would be nice for Brave users.

Thanks, @conlan. Peepeth is nuanced compared to normal platforms, because of its architecture and mission. To succeed mainstream, it will have to communicate itself very clearly.
Agreed, comms is key here! Happy to keep spreading the good word though and educating folks, one peep at a time :D
@bevan Random thought: Peepeth could consider rebranding the underlying smart contract that writes to IPFS as something else, ie "OpenMicroblogNetwork.org" which publishes details on how to use it. That could help decouple the frontend from the data storage in people's minds.

@bevan, here are my ideas. 1. UNFURL links 2. Add opt-in advertising and partner with BAT to help fund the platform growth. 3. Add a least 3 Enso's per day. This is a micro-blog and it sucks to not be able to show appreciation or agreement with more than one person per 24 hours
Just a note for #2, Peepeth doesn't have to add opt-in advertising to start taking advantage of $BAT. Just verify ownership of the domain and Peepeth will start receiving monthly token payments from Brave users :) https://brave.com/publishers/

Well, lesson learned there! Here's a clarification: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1yi1ip_j_8 Thanks, though :)
Good clarification. Keep up the amazing work @bevan, you're doing great! People need to understand that they're literally free to build their own frontends for Peepeth (something that is NOT possible to do via Twitter, only moderated clients via Twitter API).

3) Moderation is transparent on Peepeth.com, because of the open nature of the blockchain. That keeps Peepeth.com accountable to users, who are free to build and use another front-end for Peepeth data.
This is what separates #decentralized social network from a Twitter. With latter, Twitter decides what gets posted and what is allowed to remain. With this, anyone can post their content to the network and if they don’t agree with peepeth frontend they can build their own.

Lastly, how exclusive is the tech around it? I.e. how difficult/possible it is for the other browsers to join the bandwagon?
The #Brave browser is open source :)

And is a self fulfilling market maker given BAT already has a decent size market value!
Yup! Brave gets me so excited for the future. It’s going to allow even more folks to make their livelihoods via art and creation.

Beautiful explanation! Thank you. What happens with websites that are not verified, as there is an option that's on by default, to allow contributions to non-verified sites?
So domains can accumulate BAT even if they’re not verified yet. Then when they do verify they can claim all the BAT they’ve received so far :D So there’s a growing incentive for sites like Wikipedia to get on board. Newspapers will love Brave, WP and guardian are already verified

Can you link me to where you purchase ads to show within Brave? I'm interested in this new world of opt-in advertising.
Brave ads are currently in user trials as of June: https://brave.com/brave-launches-user-trials-for-opt-in-ads/. If you want to try them out there's a link to join the community and request access to the trial. I believe the ads feature is slated to launch later this year.

But doesn't the BAT browser have ad block built in natively? Or is it just for cookies?
Brave browser blocks all 3rd party ads natively. Only ads purchased through the Brave browser will be shown (to users who opt-in).
Replying to @tyson (0xc9ad401dcc9fc73f77e77de693b9c6782170d9d2)
I see. Why wouldn't most people just use their built-in ad blocker and avoid the complexity of the BAT token economics?
Currently you just get a little notification once a month that tells you when the token distribution is going out and if you (optionally) want to review your site list.

I see. Why wouldn't most people just use their built-in ad blocker and avoid the complexity of the BAT token economics?
So users don't have to understand anything about BAT. All they have to do is just browse the web normally and the monthly token accumulation and re-distribution happens automatically. By using Brave you support sites who wish to stay ad-free.
