What’s up? Is the bottom here now?
The only place for the tech to go is onward and upward.
Oh, wait, you all aren't talking about the __tech__...
------
Markets... ok...
Public markets are fine, important even - but they won't determine the transformative power of the tech.
Don't look at things upside down.🙃

I finally made it in, too many days trying to use Status and then advice from a friend showed me the Trust wallet and all was easy....phew long road
Welcome, Ben!
You have taken the road less traveled.
Which is good... because, someday, that same road is going to be packed. There will be lights and signs - the journey will be easier, but the view won't ever the be the same.

Thanks to those who've applied to #buidl_bali! A great group is coming together already. Are you involved in the blockchain space? Join us in Bali, Indonesia, for a working retreat to remember. Feb 19-28. https://peepeth.com/a/retreat
You see that Peeple...? That's the real "moon"...
Cool tech, passionate people, culminating, we hope, in a better world. (Oh, yes, and an unforgettable working vacation.)
"When moon?" #buidl_bali - that's when.

Hi there peeps 😊
Love your message to the world. We're on the same page.
Welcome to Peepeth.
@CanYa
Just perusing your site. You have a few typographical issues:
The ampersand symbol is not being displayed correctly.
The site page title should use the plural " freelancer __s__ " - (unless that's an informed seo decision).
Looking great overall!

I've applied for the upcoming #buidl_bali as well.

3687 and counting. When Dorsey gets dragged back in front of Congress maybe we see more migrate.
We don't need to wait for any congress interrogations to happen in any single country!
We can double the number of users overnight... if only each existing Peepeth user could introduce this platform to a friend. :-)

I think it can be done because we are amazing beings, and where there's a will, there is a way. Biometrics? Implants? Bread crumbs? Electromagnetic signatures? The problem here is that one tool is ahead of another essentially complimentary tool. Blockchain is ahead of ID.
I think we have lots of room for improvement, don't get me wrong!
I, like you, believe we *will* improve.
It's just that I fear some/most of the things that make the current system "easy" come from the fact that it's rewritable.
May we never lose our way to have that luxury.

Touché. Can a system where no one has the ability to reset your password ever be as easy to navigate as one without a reset button? Because reset buttons and money don't seem to go together... It's hard to compare digital identities & owned digital value to email accounts...
(Not that we don't have legitimate, secure schemes to recover funds... just that it would never be as *easy* as a button press. Too much is at stake.)
Replying to @d2r2 (0x25551cdc379e74f36da97acdf81212c459fb9e67)
You're comparing physical objects to digital information. It's not a good analogy. People can't even remember their own passwords to their Email, hence the ubiquitous 'Forget my password' button. You don't have signs in parking lots saying 'Lost my keys.'
Touché.

5 We failed to provide a better alternative to centralised systems. We need to be cheaper, easier to use, faster. We are no where near there. Peepeth is a great example, it’s nicer but it isn’t easier to use (yet).
Can having to keep track of your own car keys, gas in your tank, and air in your tires ever be as mindlessly __easy__ as having a professional chauffeur?
Should ease of use always be the primary goal? What many of the chauffeurs habitually show up drunk?

Sure GWD, feel free to message me privately on twitter @ peepethApp, or use the feedback form in the lower right :)
I will not comment on the irony of the Peepeth founder and lead (read: sole) dev asking for PMs on a stale web2 platform.
I'll just say that I'm excited for private messages on this front end. Later, for private messages that don't depend on a central entity at all.
Can't wait!

The bad press is at least a likely a symptom of the bear market as it could be a catalyst. The security is stellar - assuming individuals involved manage and control their keys properly. You can't make a [financial] revolution conditional on strong support from the incumbents.
That said - decentralize all the things! Decentralized exchanges __are the future!__
Just be careful not to guide people to look "out there" for excuses.
The solutions to all these problems are within the system and communities we're building.
Be awesome. People will follow.

Why is the crypto market going down? 1. Bad Press 2. Inadequate security 3. Stringent government regulation 4. Delay in the ruling of bitcoin ETF by SEC Thats why we need decentralized exchanges like http://Tradex.One . The Future belongs the DEX.

Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for a kindness. -Seneca
I will go one step further.
__Wherever there is *life*, there is an opportunity for kindness.__
Humanism strikes a cord with me, certainly - but when it comes to the rest of the life that surrounds us, there has generally been a great deficit of compassion.

5: to me this means, Crypto never had the 'popular civilian mind' on team for proper outreach, PR, or ideas for the more common uses, and advertised to the wrong demographic.
I tend to lump education in with advertising - and I think you're spot on when you say PR and outreach are lacking. Much of the popular media coverage is about price only. Uninspiring.
It's a grass roots movement without enough fertilizer.
Thanks for sharing your perspective.
If crypto currencies broadly failed to gain mainstream adoption, what would it mean? __and why?__
1) Can't have nice things without centralized power brokers
2) There was a failure to educate people properly
3) Regulators had squashed innovation
4) All of the above
5) [other]

I don't understand the question. Suppose the US alone used to need 4 million horseshoes maintained annually... did anyone believe the Farriers would permit people to adopt transportation aside from horses?! People will opt for what is better. Public blockchains can be better.
Unless you think democracy has entirely failed and big businesses and the wealthy are in control... in which case they would probably be in no hurry to embrace open platforms that rapidly erode their ability to rent seek.
Is that what you're saying?

Is someone using (or used in the past) ProtonMail/ProtonVPN? Feedback wanted!
I've been using the Proton Visionary plan for a while... it includes vpn and email. If your correspondents are techy, you could use PGP for less cost. If they are all on gmail, you're not really getting past the "problem" of data harvesting.
If you support the vision... A+

It was worth the watch. Trying to get people to use products and services that don't sell customer data is difficult in my experience.
People have a hard time understanding what the problem is. This did a good job of shining the spotlight on some of the troubling realities.

Saw the news about the latest drop in most of the crypto-currencies. The article mentioned the discussions on Twitter, so I thought I'd check Peepeth first, but I found nothing. Is this intentional, am I just not finding it, or is it just a community size thing?
I think it's a community *composition* thing, rather than a size thing.
For people here, crypto isn't just magic internet money - at the very least, they know enough about the tech to install MetaMask and sign some messages. They can see the writing on the wall.

Not to be negative in any way - but the wording around having rights to your **own** designs seems a little off-putting. People should have rights to their designs by default. They are __their__ designs...

Speaking candidly here: actually doing that is pretty rare among "earthlings". Promising to do that and *then* messing everything up is more par for the course.
Let's stay hopeful, though...
Welcome to Peepeth!
Before today fades in to tomorrow... In honor of that American holiday...

The essence of what we are is scattered throughout the many masks we force ourselves to wear everyday. When not even my reflexion can reveal to me what lies within, is the moment in which I really start to wonder if I am but another actor in a play of my own doing.
You don't need to act here. You can wear the mask if you want, though.
