Everyone here is awfully calm! How refreshing. Don't wander over to reddit right now. The manic market has ruined the mood over there.

#I-Agree-CallMeGwei The cost of education (especially broad education) should be trending lower. It's all basically free on the internet. People aren't going in to debt because of "education" they are going in to debt because of "verification of education" or "résumé building".
Some day, being conferred degrees may be less like interacting with expensive gatekeepers.
Blockchains can help with that. If we're looking for proof of ability and temperament signaling, then our online identities should be able to vouch for us more than they currently do, imo.

Education is the most important thing we have. It's the reason we have nice things. All of them. The fact that so many people think it's acceptable to put our children 100s of thousands of dollars in debt is living proof that we've failed to educate enough people.

Thoughts on the asset allocation of the Coinbase "bundle"?
Seems like a very good way for older, larger things to get entrenched well in to the future. I'd rather see some kind of comparison matrix than a bundle, personally... but what do *you* think?

As a recent observer of the space, the "stick it to the Man" vibe jumps out in many groups. What I don't hear consistently is the benefits of the model. It's more of "your house is burning, get out".
I think that's a fair and valid criticism.
I suppose there are many more people aware that *something is wrong* than there are people with vision / understanding about how exactly blockchains can contribute to solutions.
Pushing that line of discussion is a great public service

Also, as a completely tangential thought... survivalists prepare for a potential collapse of existing systems by making sure they have the skills and resources to survive as an individual or small group. Blockchain offers entire alternative systems to replace any that collapse.
Blockchains aim to preserve - and expand - individual volition even in the worst case.... all the while maintaining (though restructuring) social, economic, and political institutions.
The comparison is very poor, imho.

So just sit back and hope everything else fails? Yikes, not a very positive message. Might as well go all in and be a survivalist.

I didn't say that I - or anyone here, or anyone in the crypto space broadly - is *hoping* for that.
I was simply providing an alternative view. Decentralization *alone* may, in fact, be enough to spur adoption of decentralized systems and applications. No one knows for sure.
Replying to @Iyamthepapa (0xd25efde68e17f525bc72764e917f9d77d7470e9b)
Nicer, sure, but Peepeth employees gotta eat, too. Adoption won't happen without a sustainable business model. Nice isn't enough. Why is decentralized better? How does it make nice possible, what is its advantage? That message is lost in the rush to riches.
There is no rush to riches from the Peepeth dev. Full stop.
(Apologies if I misunderstood your statement.)
Permanence can encourage thoughtfulness. Making front end censorship transparent and accountable is a move in the right direction. Peer to peer tipping may promote quality

So many Dapps seem to simply reinvent the existing smartphone ecosystem, but "now, it's on a decentralized network!", as if that alone will drive adoption.Until decentralization is redefined outside of its libertarian roots, the rest of the world won't care. This isn't about 2008.
Decentralization alone may very well drive adoption. It depends on the magnitude and density of failures stemming from the centralized models in the interim.
Every breach of privacy and trust, every abuse of power and authority - adds a straw to the proverbial camels back.

I don't wanna go down the rabbit hole here... the world is full of issues that need to be tackled and we each have to pick our battles carefully before we run out of time in this life. I just want to say: we learn every day that genetics controls more than we previously imagined
Sometimes, not being able to understand or relate to something doesn't mean there is a failure on anyone's part. It just means the "wiring" is different. The best we can do is to *try* and finagle our own minds into understanding: differences are ok & people need different things

Will this model scale. I mean when Peepeth becomes mega popular and there are bazillions of tx's ?
Yes, it will scale.
Front ends simply need to unroll batches (and can cache those locally if they would choose to do so). Batch density shouldn't be a deal breaker. Check out what a batch looks like:

I don't quite understand how Peeping is free?
It's not completely "free" - it costs Peepeth some money to save the peeps to the Ethereum blockchain. However, by batching lots of transactions together - it can keep costs low.
In reality, Peepeth is only paying for an ipfs hash to be saved intermittently, afaik.

4 things the crypto industry needs: 1/ A UX that isn't frightening to non-techies and doesn't mention blockchain/crypto 2/ Tools for easy+secure private key management 3/ Fiat-crypto liquidity / interoperability 4/ A functional stablecoin https://buff.ly/2MwCFmY
Don't we have #4 at least? DAI has been relatively stable, hasn't it?
Stable coins are under-rated. Build them on top of a decentralized public ledger and they can combine the best aspects of both crypto and fiat currencies.

In fact, there are hundreds of Peeple online! You see, this is still an early adopters hangout... lots of people have retired to their yachts from their crypto-fueled fortunes... they see your peep, but can't be bothered to reply for just $5.

I want to tip $5 to 10 people in 10 minutes. If you want to be one of those 10 people, simply reply to this peep with a detailed reason on what you would use the $5 of ETH for. Get creative and humor is a healthy element to throw into the mix. Try me!
I propose that you send $5 to @pluma - someone stained her spatula without permission and she needs another one. Now, I know humor was supposed to be a goal here - but the stained spatula incident was no laughing matter. She even peeped about it!
