Checking out the #Brave browser and it's pretty quick so far. Blocks tons of ads and trackers which is always a great thing. Sidenote: It's insane how one can become accustomed to the convenience of Chrome. https://brave.com/whe627

I have not used another browser since installing it, works like a charm. (Android)

(pt 3) There was a pretty good report and re-cap on crypto and the pumping and dumping schemes on an episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. It's probably the first and only time I've seen the mainstream media accurately reflect what has been happening in this market

I am a fan of last week tonight and loved that crypto piece! But one should not forget that John Oliver's job is to be entertaining first and educative second.

I don't agree with these "pump and dump" schemes at all, but people losing money cannot put the blame on others. If people thoughtfully invested and did their own due-diligence, then the success of those P&D orchestrations would be severely diminished. Education before regulation

I totally agree. I have been invited into groups like that on Discord before - it's people making money on the backs of the uneducated/greedy. There might be closed whale groups, too, but what you said applies to those, too.
Ty for sharing your point of view @lion

Excited, but would actually prefer it grow slower this time around... stays out of the media and big whale manipulation (which is still bound to happen)

Could you elaborate on your specific understanding of whale manipulation?
I have heard several versions and still don't know what to think of it.

This blockchain stuff is a total scam. Cryptocurrencies have no inherent value. A useful currency needs to have inherent value, like gold, fiat currency, or nonperishables like paintings of Campbell's soup cans.

You are having a lot of fun right now, aren't you? :P

I wasn't able to find the private key associated with the mnemonic phrase, unfortunately. I don't think Toshi has the option.

That was kind of my point: I don't think there is a single private key associated with the phrase, but multiple. The one you were looking for is probably just the first one of many.

#Trust can only import single private keys right now, but the mnemonic phrase you mention is tied to a seed of a HD wallet, which is used to create many private keys in a deterministic fashion. Can you export a single private key with Toshi? Haven't used it myself so far.

@alec Take everything I say with a grain of salt. Maybe @vikmeup can chime in on this.

1 of 3: How I explain crypto wallets and blockchains: a wallet is a misnomer. it should be seen as a keychain holding all your private keys to different glass postboxes in a virtual post office, each with a slit to accept deposits from anyone.

Ty for the glass box analogy, I am gonna steal that one.

Agree. But apps within apps (dapp browsers) don’t create good experiences. Peepeth needs its own. I think we need to be workin harder on native front ends.

I agree. I would love a native Peepeth.com front end that safely interacts with a wallet app of my choice, like Enjin.

Couldn't a digital art market be secured via staking? For an artist to sell "original" works on chain they have to stake eth as a guarantee of originality. Then in cases of dispute an oracle/random jury could evaluate the timestamps on chain and the fraud would lose their stake.

That is an interesting idea! First thought: That means a person needs funds to even get started selling something, which might be an issue. On the other hand: Known artists are probably more likely to have funds, while unknown ones are less likely to be copied/stolen from.

Usually I also would have some original files of the programs, I used to create my digital works. But you're right, those registration services don't require authentication, so you will have to trust the person, you're going to buy an artwork from, that he's not someone else.

Thank you for the insight.
