my country's currency's value is going down comparing to $ my solution: drinking and getting high at the weekend, those are getting expensive too, though. #inflation ##sanction
Maybe buy some stable coins (e.g. DAI) or crypto in general? Although you probably have that covered, since you are here in the first place.

Even if it's a team of less than 5, think about what this means in terms of human history. The ability of a few to program THE idealist free-speech microblogging platform that twitter could never be. No need for advertising to sustain the platform. No need to lock down front end.
When you look at all the the blockchain stuff this builds upon, you are looking at a lot more people than 'a few', though. I love the product, but I feel you are getting carried away ;)

Last year a publisher approached me to write a book about cryptocurrency and the new token economy. At the end of this month it will hit shelves and I don't think I've ever been this scared 🙈
Awesome! Make sure to drop some links when it can be ordered. Best of luck!

I believe that the next wave of awesome dApps will have integrations front and centre. Just imagine if Peepeth had: - Tips in stablecoins like DAI, rather than in volatile ETH - One-click ETH-DAI trades via an 0x-based DEX - Identity management and quick onboarding via uPort
@bevan These sound great! Sounds like a lot for one person - but maybe you'll have a team at some point.

Hello Peeple! I have been browsing Peepeth for about a week now as I waited for my Metamask ETH to come through and I have to say, there are some very intelligent, well-versed people on here. Looking forward to learning, growing the community and contributing in some small way.
Welcome :)

ponzi =/= pyramid as far as I understood. But either way: They are very upfront about it ;) I see at as a tool for people to learn - even if it turns out to be the hard way.

You think it's a good idea to invest in a ponzi scheme?
From what I can tell, it is not a 'ponzi scheme' - it is a kind of game which is completely upfront about its pyramidic character, proving a point about speculative (crypto-)trading in general. I think the community might need this 'project' to learn. @hankcooper @ alec

Anyway, getting 4-byte function selectors from Solidity contract bytecode is quite easy: look for comparisons of first four bytes of call data to pre-defined four-byte chunks (function selectors). Figuring out functions when they're not in the four-byte dir is the tricky part.
Wow, lots of new stuff to try out, ty for the input!

With the contract address and ABI you could use UDAPP to interact with the smart contract. https://kumavis.github.io/udapp/
My question was meant more broad in that case, though. Is an ABI for a Ethereum smart contract something that can be automatically created from public information or does it have to be shared by the creator of the contract?

ES doesn't do that for unverified contracts, since it doesn't have the ABI description. (This is about the peepeth contract, right?..)
Thank you, yes it is. So is there any way to automatically generate an ABI description which I can use with myetherwallet or @tay 's mycrypto?

Changing address is in the smart contract but not yet in the front end. We may have a period of name squatting.
Is there a reason why etherscan isn't showing me any functions when displaying the contract?
Replying to @abcoathup (0x13ebd3443fa5575f0eb173e323d8419f7452cfb1)
I assume the issue is signing up for Peepeth with an address that you don’t want to link to other activity. This will be resolved when the front end allows moving addresses.
@callmegwei already made a good point on why transfering addresses should not be possible.
Replying to @CallMeGwei (0x285bc660aa42b8effc6c60357cd4d8ca072be625)
This would allow a name market to develop and name squatting would be a huge issue. I can go on record saying the convenience this would provide would not outweigh the cons, imho. Wallets supporting multiple identities is a great start - the more seamlessly the better.
You might be right :/ But that means my (luckily not thaaat shameful) past uses of this MetaMask wallet will forever be connected to my Peepeth account, right?

What if an account could be associated with multiple private keys. This allows different devices with different keys to all post to the same account. A single master key could be used to add or revoke access in case of a device compromise.

Eventually key management will be part of the OS. In software wallets only keep a small amount of funds/tokens. There is risk with each app, only use ones you trust and have triple checked. The most valuable item in my software wallet is my peepeth and Toshi identities.
That's exactly how I do it right now :)
Replying to @CallMeGwei (0x285bc660aa42b8effc6c60357cd4d8ca072be625)
May I ask why you'd like this? Right now we can cross check digital identities between dApps. Those who would like privacy can spin up another address, but those who want to build a digital identity can do so with the same public address everywhere. The address is on the chain...
I would be interested in changing the address (as in transfering ownership of this account) since I simply forgot to create a new address from my MetaMask before registering. I think that is at least part of @steve 's request.
Replying to @jm9k (0xa7bd09daab3eb5ec96f04914d94c47681489d604)
In most cases this is correct. The phrase is used to generate a seed from which deterministic private keys are generated. It's possible in some more obscure implementations a phrase could be used to generate a specific private key, but I can't name any that function this way.
Ty!

You mean seed as in mnemonic phrase, right? Assuming I understood it correctly, which I might have not: I think the phrase is an equivalent to the seed of a HD wallet, which can create many private keys, but not to a single private key. So the answer should be 'no'.
Maybe someone more knowledgable can confirm this?
Replying to @bishop (0xd982beddf13ccdbfc79d789a27f71d8161ce9dc9)
Maybe a stupud question. Does anybody know, if it is possible to generate seed from existing private key? When I created my ETH wallet at MEW, there was no possibility to create seed, only a keystore.

@bevan @binance I think certain account names/handles should be asked/required to confirm their identity through Twitter until there are better solutions available, don't you think?

Was referring to the issue as described here: https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/issues/1887 Was present the last time I used Metamask. Currently on Toshi.
I see, ty for the link. I did 'sign out' in the past by resetting the whole browser add-on, but a button for that would be helpful indeed. Also, I think the person raising the issue originally is not clear on how HD wallets work.

It does have a log out button, just below 'Settings'. Do you mean something else by signing out?

I agree that it increases the attack vector. So does having your account controlled by several wallet addresses though... I think the permissions of dApps are still evolving - and your proposed solution may become a reality at some point. I've haven't seen it in the wild yet.
True, I hadn't thought of that. So every service would need a fresh set of controlling addresses, otherwise it would defeat the initial purpose. That would probably cause some new challenges to arise...
Replying to @balresch (0xd6d48727d8835b73f8dc511a5baaf3445a6f65c9)
The issue I see with this is that with every additional import on another device, you are adding a little more risk of being hacked/being exploited/doing something essentially wrong. I think there needs to be a better solution for this further down the road.
@CallMeGwei Like, couldn't I have a dedicated Peepeth-address, which can be controlled by a given number of other confirmed addresses (MetaMask, Trust, etc.) in theory?
Replying to @CallMeGwei (0x285bc660aa42b8effc6c60357cd4d8ca072be625)
Basically, to clarify, your Peepeth account is currently linked to a single address. So controlling that address needs to be done from every device you'd like to Peep from. If you'r Toshi is already set up with another address - you can always use Cipher or Trust on mobile, too.

ERC20 tokens automagically appear in #Trust. I use #Trust for its transaction confirmation notifications and automagically addition of custom tokens. The hexel tokens are meant to be fun community tokens rather than for value.
Hey Andrew,
have you just imported your MetaMask mnemonic phrase into Trust? Or are you peeping from Trust only?

You've just got a different ownership/management setup than me; wrong assumptions got me confused. Anyway: is 0x0d6b..f84b yours, @balresch? (It hasn't had any transactions...)
I actually forgot to move the ownership to the 'safe' address, that might have caused the confusion. Fixed now, ty :)
Replying to @veox (0xf75b78571f6563e8acf1899f682fb10a9248cce8)
Ah, right: 0x0d6b..f84b is what `balresch.eth` resolves to, according to the public resolver.
Exactly :) which is also an address of mine.
Replying to @veox (0xf75b78571f6563e8acf1899f682fb10a9248cce8)
To clarify: when querying with `balresch.eth`, ES' enslookup page - for some reason - tries to do the reverse lookup on 0x0d6b27bbceb315c18df5d0701c71250037b3f84b instead of 0xd6d48727d8835b73f8dc511a5baaf3445a6f65c9. No idea where it pulls the former address from. :/
That is on purpose, actually. I have a subdomain (meta.balresch.eth) pointing to this address, but the reverse lookup goes to the main one (balresch.eth), wich points to another (hopefully safer) address/'wallet'.
Replying to @veox (0xf75b78571f6563e8acf1899f682fb10a9248cce8)
Nope, not yet. @bevan has noted this in a previous discussion; IMO it should be very low-priority.
I agree. I am just a little bummed that ENS in general does not seem to be widely adopted within the Ethereum dApp world.
