@cyan @veox This is a Gajumaru (Chinese banyan) tree. I wish if I could see it’s roots... but the roots are under those artificial soil.

Looks so precious, thanks for indulging. I wasn't familiar with Chinese bayan family tree, but each tree looks like it has its own personality. Yours looks like it will stand and start moving out of the pot any moment now. Best of luck to the little buddy!

Water and air jets in the theater? Didn't know that was a thing. Thanks for the review!

They call it 4D I think, but that sounds silly and inaccurate, so I prefer describing the technology (they also shake the chairs when action requires it). Seriously though these special effects work well with a story that is less about language and more about nature and senses.

Sep 06, 2018 22:40

Alpha (2018) movie is really good choice for family cinema time. It's for the first time when I felt that the 3D effects & the water and air jets are adding to the cinematography not distracting or covering for other faults. 5/5

Awesome pic @nico What is this place? My first thought was that it's a cemetery but I didn't see any markers on the blocks. Still... It looks like a great place to contemplate life.

Your intuition is right - the picture is from the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. It brings the contemplation and remembrance of a cemetery, but also a strong warning of the terrible things we are all capable of doing when we forget to be kind.

Looking at Marina Towers, thinking about all those workers making something timeless. I don't care about their political affiliations, what they thought about Nixon while making these marvelous towers. We do care about the work, how well was it done, how beautiful & useful it is.

There are times when politics and other -isms tear us apart, distract us from the things we want to do together, the timeless things we can leave as legacy, what we can build together. This is why I like the option to mute persisting bickering (on any topic, not just politics).

There's a law of physics that says - The love and importance of cat is indirectly proportional to love and importance of breakable things in the house.

I really, really appreciate this model bc I think more about what I read and plan for the enso since it's just one - trying to remember things I found most useful. It encourages to hierarchize and organize what one reads as oppose to mindless consuming of posts.

Can you help me with some online resources and recomandations to make Scratch appealing for 9-11 yo? (Courses, basic challenges, or just your favorite sites that you found useful for teaching kids, any of these would be great).

.@abcoathup When did your first think about becoming vegan and from what exact moment on have you been convinced that you want this lifestyle?

Another vegan(ish) perspective:

1. First time gave up meat for 1 month bc of health reasons, and couldn't get myself to eat it for another 2y after (icky factor)

2. Restarted occasionally eating meat when I started hiking (bc hunger & limited food options in the mountains)

Great list #lkie

PS: regular exercising is wonderful in itself, but if you can do it in nature (as opposed to indoors) go for the greens. Being surrounded by green vegetation, forest in particular, has been connected with better mental health.

I am really sorry for coming across rude. I am not making judgements, I meant to say that I consider to be in everyone's interest when politics can be left out of the official conversation and we can talk about all the things we have in common. Positivety over fear ☺

Forgive me, I meant not to say there shouldn't be mods at all. There's absolutely legal liability to be considered. But enlightening conversation does not always appear beautiful at first glance; I'd rather see encouragement to culture rather than enforcement of culture.

From across the Atlantic it stopped looking like enlighten conversation a while ago. I respect your crisis of identity as a nation, but we cannot help and you probably don't want outsiders interfere anyway. So help us stay out of your business by tagging your business? 😊
