When someone repeatedly posts stuff that will make my blood pressure rise... I mute them. I'm Venezuelan/Italian. I already have too much political bs to handle 😂

I feel you. I can also understand how some people are very invested into their local news, but the volume of that subject came to cover everything else (and in a divisive angry way) So the rest of the Terra would appreciate the option of no-participation in US internal affairs.

There are moments when I "laugh out loud," though they're infrequent. Admittedly, I'm embarrassed by my laugh, though only after the endorphins have faded. I "lol" far more often by my lonesome when reading or watching a video, than I do in a social environment.

Thank you for indulging me. In my experience no matter how silly we find our own laugh, it's still a positive vibe that brings joy to our friends and merriment to everyone else. Best infection we can go for.

Aug 20, 2018 23:59

I had a strange conversation today, and I would like to know more, if you're kind enough to share your experience: are you a "laughing out loud" or a "chuckle" type? If it's the first - can you lol while reading or watching something while alone, or it's more of a social moment?

Specifically, here in USA, lack of real border security, hence millions of illegal immigrants (11 million estimated). In europe, EU laxness and masses bum-rushing the borders in the last few years. Results; chaos, criminality and coming cultural collapse in the next generation

Seriously chill about Europe, situation here is very different than what I hear Washington talking, much too nuanced and overall much more positive than current administration would ever aknowledge. Come visit if you want to know more, don't accept second rate political opinions.

Peepeth is encouraging me to read more philosophy. Today's quote "Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means."

Kant argued that rational beings can never be treated merely as means to ends; they must always also be treated as ends themselves, requiring that their own reasoned motives must be equally respected; Reason implies respect and morality.

Censorship in first world - you are given 3days out or have your social media account deleted. Censorship for the rest of the world - masked people beat you, or you might disappear forever. FB was sketchy from the start, this is just another reminder that we should stay away.

Best people I know are part of the "kill no fly" club. It's definitely endearing when I see someone moving a bug outside into the grass rather than crush it. "Nausicaa of the Valley of the winds" might be at the origin of my appreciation of critters.

"but these outlets have become too central to our society to censor" - what do you mean by that? What about TV & radio, aren't those central & censored too? Do we even want uncensored TV? Just wondering what kind of society would we have without any censorship. Loudest voice wins

Missing the days of decentralized farming. Not to say it would result in fewer greenhouse gases... but animals were treated better. Contamination problems were more isolated. People had that additional economically viable life choice... Rambling, apologies.

I miss those days too, but do we miss them for ourselves, or wish someone else would dedicate themselves to agriculture and we can keep our urban lifestyle and just buy from small farmer? On the other side, urban gardens should be a thing for everyone with a balcony.

That is correct, both posts, and begs the question of why this is even an issue. The larger issue for me is, why are we losing the ability, as a society (speaking of the US here) to think, debate, and deliberate? With all this ICT, we're growing dumber. Why?

Debating is a skill one has to pursue, and it's always been natural for ppl who were thought like this from childhood. If no (good) education combines with little experience and small view of the world - mind gets stuck and fear takes over.
