"Man demonstrates in his own nature a pressure toward fuller and fuller Being, more and more perfect actualization of his humanness in exactly the same naturalistic, scientific sense than an acorn may be said to be “pressing toward” being an oak tree." - Abraham Maslow

Apparently Maslow also noticed a positive trend (increasing numbers of actualized people). Interesting to see this identified across disciplines, especially since it is despite the rosy retrospection bias.
b/c of health?
"Health appears thus as the prototype of value. It may even be considered the value, from which all other values experienced under special conditions become comprehensible. It acquires this significance because it guarantees man’s self-realization." -Kurt Goldstein
"Reason is man’s faculty for grasping the world by thought, in contradiction to intelligence, which is man’s ability to manipulate the world with the help of thought." - Erich Fromm

The universal content of ultimate values stems from the basic existential trinity of antinomy, polarity and the union of opposites. This union is the essence of ultimate values. Ontologically, the ground of being is that dimension in which all antinomies are united and harmonized

Be a dead man--
Thoroughly dead,

“A thing is good when it fulfills the definition of its concept . . . anyone calls “good” what he thinks fulfills its concept and “bad” what he thinks does not. Whether or not it does is a question of application, not of axiology." -Robert Hartman

We certainly do. But most of us are not at the extremes for most tendencies, and there is a good range that we can inhabit. I think this too is a balance: finding the mix between self-improvement and self-acceptance.
Another way to think about it is balance can be broken into a mix of stability and plasticity. These two qualities are like the "big two," then the big five personality traits branch off them.

"Strains the supply chain": by this, I mean that it takes up limited shipping space, that otherwise could be occupied by much scarcer "goods" - steel, purebred livestock... and people. Did I guess right? Does the book say more?
The overarching reason is because of the versatility of cannabis hemp. used for 75-90% of all paper until 1883, hemp is also softer and warmer than cotton, more absorbent and has 3x the tensile strength. Hemp seed and hemp fiber have so many uses and some hemp grows 20ft in 1 yr.

The emergence of quantum consciousness stems from dynamic flows of hydrogen ions in brain liquid. This liquid contains vast areas of the fourth phase of water with hexagonal packing of its molecules, the so-called exclusion zone (EZ) of water.

There are already active forms of UBI in small communities, fraternities, clubs and even within families. I don't think this is a model that can be extended beyond small like-minded groups with strongly correlated private interests. :)
Here's a great talk about UBI - Andrew Yang on Joe Rogan's podcast recently. I think it's going to be needed sooner rather than later, but there will be a period of social adjustment. Self-motivation will really need to be emphasized
