In case that happens take this to invite us to fly over and go out for pizza with you.
Haha, thank you. Will absolutely do so. Honestly, @Bevan has a great chance here to dominate the blockchain micro-blogging space. I've already submitted my application to help him manage his empire. I'll be sure to suggest a pizza party for the first 500 Peepers.

Having a bit of a problem with the Trust browser on iOS. Is this a problem with Trust or Peepeth? #bug?
Did you just save a batch? Did you just switch devices / wallets? Did you tx with to any other dApps using the same address?
Brain dump! go go go...

I once paid someone .5 BTC to draw a meme. I checked a while ago and it’s still sitting in that address.
I mined bitcoin back in late 2000s for a few months - and proceeded to wipe and reuse the harddrive until it died some years later. I'm so thankful that I cannot remember the quantity of coins mined.

The master key would not be replaceable, only the subkeys. That way you can use subkeys for day to day, but the master key is stored in a vault or hardware wallet with the other important stuff.
Yeah. I think this could def work. No one would buy the name because you would have access to the master key and be able to take the name back at any time. Of course you could still delete a sub key and claim being hacked for some terrible Peep. Maybe that would be a feature, lol
Remember the Bitcoin pizza story? ... I'm not a "price guy" myself, but we may be having some thousand dollar conversations around here.
What a great crowd to pioneer this space with.

You may lose control of an address though. Social recovery, potentially with a stake could be good in the medium/long term.
I get it. There is an actual need for it in some instances. I just think it has the potential to erode a lot of the value of an immutable platform and introduce some bad behavior.
I think social recovery would be a much better solution, though more complicated to implement.

I haven’t looked into the twitter handle market. On the whole I assume that there is enough combinations that can be used instead. Vitalik fakes and free ETH are an example of this.
Well, timely enough... I think the recent @bitcoin handle fiasco may shed some light on what a name is worth...
Aside from that though... if you can transfer between addresses, then you can always claim you didn't post stuff on the old address. Also verification should be redone

Name squatting has already started to a small degree. That is the downside. The upside is that it gives peepers more flexibility of their identity and address.
If controlling addresses could only be added, but never removed - I think it would minimize squatting and the market on names. It would also provide some flexibility... have also mentioned this to @Bevan.

Is the upside *worth it* though? That's the decision @Bevan has to make, I suppose. I think it is NOT. With wallets supporting multiple identities inevitably - will it really be that big of a deal later to have several addresses?
Replying to @balresch (0xd6d48727d8835b73f8dc511a5baaf3445a6f65c9)
You might be right :/ But that means my (luckily not thaaat shameful) past uses of this MetaMask wallet will forever be connected to my Peepeth account, right?
Correct... this issue is basically an early adopter problem. I also have this issue... Teenagers in a few years will be hyper aware of their online addresses. We're just the guinea pigs.

Changing address is in the smart contract but not yet in the front end. We may have a period of name squatting.
I have pleaded with @Bevan to make that an impossibility. But... well... I can only suggest. He's the CEO. Without some rent - any potential profit from selling names will make squatting risk-less. It also brings up issue of deniability which undermine permanence, imho.

I like the idea of a cost to going over a soft character limit. The great thing about a brand new world is that there are lots of opportunities to experiment.
I can certainly agree with that. All the potential experiments and discoveries have me perpetually excited about this space. People staring at prices & charts get en emotional rush... but being involved in the space gives you that plus an intellectual rush.

I would be interested in changing the address (as in transfering ownership of this account) since I simply forgot to create a new address from my MetaMask before registering. I think that is at least part of @steve 's request.
Honestly, I have this issue myself... I can truly relate. But I still stand by the cons outweighing the pros.

This would allow a name market to develop and name squatting would be a huge issue. I can go on record saying the convenience this would provide would not outweigh the cons, imho.
Wallets supporting multiple identities is a great start - the more seamlessly the better.

What if an account could be associated with multiple private keys. This allows different devices with different keys to all post to the same account. A single master key could be used to add or revoke access in case of a device compromise.
What if the master key is compromised? I do think this would add convenience... but it also introduces... "No... I didn't say that - I was hacked and then revoked that key"...
The master key should not be replaceable, imho, or you will have a name squatting/market activity.

since you are on a #suggestion role... I'll add one too. I've already mentioned it to @Bevan, but would be interested in community feedback. The action counter should go higher based on some conditions, but there should also be a time limit. You must save to chain every 24hrs.
This keeps the site & chain more in sync. It also allows you to post more cheaply/conveniently after the community can be reasonably sure you are not a spammer. Dynamics could be based on acct age, badges, "likes", tips, flags, etc...

- Option to not display your MM address, or option to change it to a different MM address
May I ask why you'd like this? Right now we can cross check digital identities between dApps. Those who would like privacy can spin up another address, but those who want to build a digital identity can do so with the same public address everywhere. The address is on the chain...

I have a feeling others may disagree with me on this one, but I strongly believe the 280 character limit should be a soft limit only. Everyday on Twitter you see the most followed people having to break up their Tweets into multiple posts. This limit isn't beneficial.
I think there should be a cost to going over some length - that should be captured by the Peepeth platform. There should be *some* cost to flooding Peeples feed. Right now that cost is basically manual effort on Twitter. Here @Bevan is free to experiment with different approaches

Some features I'd like to see on Peepeth: - Smaller tip amounts! Custom amounts would be great too. - Ability to search recent peeps by keywords and #hashtags. - Auto-save of peeps being written but not yet posed so you don't accidentally lose them. (Second time writing this.)
Draft peeps would be really nice... even Twitter doesn't have that! Guess you'd need to save drafts locally... ?

Maybe a stupid question, but here goes. I signed up for Peepeth on my Pixel using Toshi. I just went to my Desktop. I can't figure out a way to access Peepeth on the desktop to also post there. I have Metamask installed on Chrome. Any advice?
Also ... this is not a stupid question at all. This is one of the top asked questions for using dApps across devices.
The confusion comes because your username and password are not controlled by the dApps - they are owned by you and managed via wallets. It's a new paradigm.

Yep, you need to import your seed words from MetaMask into Toshi. (Note, this will remove your previous Toshi wallet - so backup those seed words first if you have already used that wallet.)

Yeah, never had Toshi crash aside from running in an emulator and trying to do a mitm analysis of traffic.
Sorry I can't help out more. Take the opportunity to try another mobile wallet? I love CIPHER and lots of people here are saying great things about Trust.
iOS or android?

HEY there! yes you are too kind. THIS article was fantastic. Thanks for clearing it up. For some reason Toshi keeps crashing when I go to tap on the wallet. I've restarted my phone. shut off wifi etcetera. I tweeted to them. Must be a setting on my phone. Oh well.
If the goal is just to Peep from mobile and Toshi is acting up, there are several other good solutions available in the meantime. Several devs of Toshi and other mobile wallets are on here. Maybe @sid can help you out with the Toshi issue.
Replying to @balresch (0xd6d48727d8835b73f8dc511a5baaf3445a6f65c9)
The issue I see with this is that with every additional import on another device, you are adding a little more risk of being hacked/being exploited/doing something essentially wrong. I think there needs to be a better solution for this further down the road.
I agree that it increases the attack vector. So does having your account controlled by several wallet addresses though... I think the permissions of dApps are still evolving - and your proposed solution may become a reality at some point. I've haven't seen it in the wild yet.

I'm using Trust and it didn't replace my current wallet, I can switch between wallets right now.
Oh?! That's WONDERFUL. Toshi and CIPHER both only allowed managing one wallet at a time (last I checked)... Going to do a piece on Trust shortly - that's a HUGE feature! One I've personally been wanting to see.
Thanks for putting that out there!
Replying to @CallMeGwei (0x285bc660aa42b8effc6c60357cd4d8ca072be625)
If you have MetMask working with Peepeth... that's great. Is your Toshi wallet address the same as your MetaMask address? If not, then you'll need to import the MetaMask wallet on to your phone. (Which will REPLACE your existing wallet there.) https://www.callmegwei.com/?p=2262
Basically, to clarify, your Peepeth account is currently linked to a single address. So controlling that address needs to be done from every device you'd like to Peep from. If you'r Toshi is already set up with another address - you can always use Cipher or Trust on mobile, too.

.@callmegwei @veox @bevan Could one of you, or even someone else, explain the term "gamed". What can someone achieve by doing this?
They could take advantage of Peepeth not waiting for confirmation. Two TXs - the real one with a low gas price and a "replacement" empty one at a higher gas price. In this way they could bypass writing their peeps to the chain altogether. Which kinda undermines the purpose here.
@arnav So, can we get an update from India? Central bank bans Bitcoin? How is this affecting the space there? Does this mean you won't be able to buy any eth for peeping going forward?
