@Shigako - That's not just a $1 bill, friend. That's a fraction of an ETH. I value it much more highly than a $1 - because ETH is a key to interacting with all kinds of unimaginable awesome.
I sincerely appreciate the gesture and will continue writing and sharing what I learn.

There is no delete. All peeps are public. Your peeps can be seen by future you. Plus future employers, partners, grand kids, mainstream media, political parties, advertisers and your mother. Peep responsibly and check for typos.
This is all very true - and some may wonder... well, how is this any /better/ than FB et al. Other platforms provide a false sense of security - some even demand your "real name". On Peepeth you can *choose* to use your real name or not and you are forewarned everything is open.

Yeah... *facepalm*. Guess that page needs a header image or something if it's going to be shared on social media.

@bevan #bug
Ok, I'm proud of this one peeps! To reproduce the Twitter Verification pre-population message bug on desktop:
1) navigate to "New" 2) navigate to any other page from the ui 3) hit browser back button [back to "New"] 4) click in the "Share what matters"/peeping box.
@Bevan #bug #suggestion
If you are on the notification page, you get an alert to see new peeps. If you click that alert, you stay on the notification page and are not shown new peeps.
Don't suppose you're looking for untalented people, too?
Man, talented people are so lucky. What about the rest of us ;-)
@vikmeup appreciate your product and will be writing about it soon.

Hide and edit could be supported even with peeps on the blockchain, as a hide peep or an updated peep, though the original peep would still be on chain, whether a client made this accessible. In other words public version control.
I like the idea of public version control for... basically everything. 👍

You can tokenize it with an ERC721 and then sell/trade that. The hash of the digital file itself (plus a timestamp or something), cryptographically signed by the artist's private key, could be the actual token value.
That's a good way too... and as long as the artist's public key is known, can protect against buying art from "scammers" too. The only thing that this wouldn't seem to solve is if one well-known artist stole another well known artist's stuff. Of course there would be other costs.

Your private key is your user ID/password/signature all rolled into one, without a centralised magic fairy to reset. Key management will eventually be built into the OS. @callmegwei article explains: https://www.callmegwei.com/2018/02/08/different-wallets-same-you/

That is an interesting idea! First thought: That means a person needs funds to even get started selling something, which might be an issue. On the other hand: Known artists are probably more likely to have funds, while unknown ones are less likely to be copied/stolen from.
Yeah, I think that dynamic would be interesting. Also, to note, even if a millionaire stole an unknown artists work - as long as the unknown artist put the work on chain first, he would stand to be awarded the stake of the thief.
The blockchain would be the authoritative record.

@bevan it seems like not all unsaved actions are collected when something (like tipping) triggers a contract based action. Is that already on your list?
#suggestion To clarify - you mean if you have to do an on-chain action anyway, you'd like the current batch to be processed at the same time?
Replying to @balresch (0xd6d48727d8835b73f8dc511a5baaf3445a6f65c9)
Thank you for the insight.
Couldn't a digital art market be secured via staking? For an artist to sell "original" works on chain they have to stake eth as a guarantee of originality. Then in cases of dispute an oracle/random jury could evaluate the timestamps on chain and the fraud would lose their stake.

@bevan what are your thoughts related to private messaging? Diametrically opposed to peepeth's mission, or just a technological challenge to keep the messages private?
I think @Bevan is planning to implement DMs off chain... last I heard, anyway.

#psa There is no magic centralised fairy, no password reset or forgot my password. You and you alone are responsible for your private key and hence any funds/tokens/identity held by that key.
Also... the "magic centralized fairy"... provides a false sense of security and privacy... and then holds all of your data hostage to prevent you from breaking up... all the while hanging out with spam, bots, and advertisers...

I've already been thinking what type of scams and shilling are going to commence. Where do you even start with governing and preventing something like that on open social network with permanent posts. Is it even possible?

#question #suggestion Is one of the goals of Peepeth to disincentivize those who would harass other users and post offensive peeps by requiring a monetary outlay (ETH) to save to the blockchain? If a user could delete peeps at will in order to get < the 15 cap, (1/2)
I think even a delete/edit would have to count as an action... good point.

Front ends could also handle discovery services. The most obvious would be something like reddit's front page, but there are a million approaches to curation that could be generated
This guy has *vision* - do you buidl, too?
That would make alt front-end development, uh, a little complicated, huh? Thousand of community flags to decide which kind of flagged peep should be shown where and to whom... *brain freeze*.
Let me beta test! :)

I wonder if we can do better. @alec made a good analogy to reddit, which basically shards into arbitrarily many subcommunities. A smart contract backend might actually be well-suited to that kind of architecture
Yeah, we could take all the existing Peepers and design reddit-like front-ends that those peepers could join or be elected in to - but their peeps would still show up on *all* the front ends, right...?
All the experimentation is going to be awesome though.

How can we keep the small community feel as the number of peepers grows? At the least, good (decentralized) moderation tools are a requirement
Just like "crypto Twitter" - you'll have to sort through who you want to follow at first. Especially since there is no "Who We Think You Should Follow" section on Peepeth yet.

It's funny to see that 4 of 10 cryptos in the top 10 are permissioned blockchains (controlled by a single entity) : Ripple, Stellar, Cardano and NEO.
Not funny.
The space has massive funding for development, but very little funding for educational efforts. I'm constantly telling people: keep reading, keep learning... use what you already know to...

Not a guru, just very passionate. For me the future is mobile rather than desktop. When I come across a new project, first question is do I like the concept, second is does it work on mobile. If it doesn’t I contact the developer. Peepeth had to work on mobile to be a success
I'm a desktop lover myself, but mobile is absolutely critical to success - no doubt. For a majority of the world mobile is the only readily available internet connected device.
Truly appreciate your passion!

It’s an issue with #Trust @vikmeup. Your nonce hasn’t updated correctly. Try restarting the app. You can update the nonce (check nonce of last tx and update using gear icon) or in the short term you may want to use #Toshi or #Cipher. I switch between all three all the time.
When @abcoathup says something about mobile - I tend to take notes. He's basically a mobile wallet guru.
