Havent been here for a while, got the feeling that I should have a look and see my last activity is from 2 years ago. It is WILD how fast time flies, but am happy to see that Peepeth is still doing great. 😆
Same here. 2 years since I logged in, am glad that Peepeth is still here!
Any details on the Kickstarter campaign? Excited to hear about it! 👏

Just one more now!

Need. Just. Three. More. Peeps. (er... two)
I’m almost there too. Haven’t logged in Peepeth in a while, saw the email today and decided to check my post count. I’m glad i’m almost there.

let's up the tempo
Push the tempo
Wonderful, free Peeping for everyone! Well, almost 😉
It's amazing how much better you can be at something when you realize you're not afraid of losing anything.
I watched a one-hour documentary on the French Foreign Legion on YT today. People deserve second chances.

No worries irv! :)
Thank you!
Please don't share Infinity War spoilers please.
A chinese student activist's letter about faculty intimidation was attached to an ether transaction and added to the blockchain. Someone should introduce her to Peepeth! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-24/chinese-metoo-student-activists-use-blockchain-to-fight-cen

Who's user #1000 and when did we cross the 1K mark?
Congrats @johnhenry. #1000 is a great milestone for Peepeth!

Only if you planned on doing something shady... so, you know... just don't do that. ;)
Not shady or illegal stuff but having an anon social ppth account so nothing can be traced to a real human. As in 100% privacy.
Versus a twitter account where an law enforcement agency will send a request to twitter to retail account data.
Replying to @ayunknown (0x207a9f001cdde2a1717fae152a0a1288059a126a)
If you hide your IP and DNS, use an anonymous email, anonymous ether address, take out the metadata from pictures etc. there isn't even any data to reveal.
So:
Step 1: Hide IP with VPN
Step 2: Create anonymous email to receive ppth invite
Step 3: Create anon ETH account
Step 4: Send anon ether to anon ETH account
Step 5: Create anon ppth account and fund it from anon ETH account
Step 6: Always hide VPN when using ppth

The peepeth backend data stored on the etherchain and IPFS are decentralized, but the interactions through the Peepeth.com front end are not and are still subject to the same scrutiny/records/tracking as traffic and interactions with any other webserver.
So basically we're screwed

Do you think it's possible to stay anonymous on Peepeth and avoid private/governmental tracking?
Assuming I can fund a ppth account with anon eth, wouldn't my peeps be safe. No entity or organisation can force @bevan to reveal data because the data is decentralised, yes?

It's something I have started doing just because they don't get it anywhere else. It's in my Social Media and Sport Communication courses, not finance at all. They probably won't hear much of this stuff otherwise like: don't spend more than you earn or save to spend
Don't spend more than what you earn is an excellent mantra to live by. It's easy to learn and a powerful concept.

I feel that the introduction of the Enso and its 1 per 24 hour limit forces users to remain thoughtful about who and what is deserving of their daily Enso. This is a small, but impactful break from the traditional system of unlimited likes. Good thinking @Bevan .
Yes, unlike birdsite where 'likes' are given out for everything possible under the sun; peepeth forces users to contemplate. Although we feel that it could be increased to maybe some more than 1/day.

So it's like Twitter but posting costs $ETH? Hmmm
$0.01 for 15 posts on average. 1,500 posts will cost around $1. Reasonable? Perhaps.

Working on building a 1-day financial literacy refresher for my classes. Mostly college juniors and graduating seniors. What would you include as things you wish you knew leaving college?
You'd be surprised, but a lot of schools all over the world don't include finance as a mandatory course even at intermediate levels. It's mind blogging when you consider the world runs on fiat.

Hey peeps it's my first peep. I'm not a huge twitter user, but I see great things ahead for the indelible nature of peepeth.
Welcome to Peepeth Johnny. Grab a beer or tea and have a look around. The main feed is pretty awesome.
Has anyone heard the new APC album? Thoughts?

I'm surprised there isn't thousands of Twitter users trying this new service. Do they know abt? Is avoiding Twitter censorship not a need? chicken/egg issue because network is so small?
Somebody 'influential' has yet to publish an article about this new exciting platform. The day Techcrunch of Verge covers a story on Peepeth is the day you see a mass influence of onboarders. Happened with Mastodan, it can happen here.

couldn't that be accomplished with just IPFS, no blockchain needed?
Think of the IPFS is just a temporary holding area, eventually everything (in batches of 15) gets written to the blockchain -- hence the need for gas.

I have mostly stopped tweeting and just peep.
I've actually stopped looking at my twitter feed as much now. I prefer the Peepeth feed now because it feels like real conversations are happening all the time.

Hi, this is Red Li from 8btc. How does ipfs work with Peepeth?
Your peeps are saved to the Interplanetary File System in batches, then written to the blockchain. 1 batch = 15 peeps

I got that. 15 actions is still a low number imo. I'd pay to get that limit raised to a 100.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how new "right to be forgotten" regulation such as #GDPR will affect the blockchain, where - by definition- things cannot be deleted?
Privacy is paramount. The problem with centralized systems is personal data is collected and then sold without users' permissions (because they agreed to a TOS). The goal of dApps is to allow a user total control over their own profile -- one profile to rule them all.

Morning Peeps! Woke up and my first thought was to do my morning routine so I could read me some peeps from some peeps, on my phone. Not being a fan of browsing the internet via mobile phone, my next dream will be about an Android and iOS app. Who's with me?
I wouldn't mind an official app, but I think it'll take up a lot of @bevan's time, plus keeping the app up to date on both app stores. But it's definitely a good idea!

When I was living in Chengdu and feeling down I'd watch Breaking Bad, which made me feel much worse, lol. Is the show itself a drug?
It’s only the top-rated television series of all time — even The Sopranos and GOT comes in after — so that says a lot.

Without sounding like a broken record, you should go read up on the procedure. Basically when the auction is over, you must reveal your bid within two days. If you don’t, you lose the auction and get back your ether.
