This is my first peep. It's like tweeting to a microblog made of blockchain.
Welcome, Hans! #wypf? All suggestions appreciated!

Welcome, OTC! Perhaps it's a reflection of ourselves.

I am warming to the idea of an ensō leaderboard stat, if only as a way to distinguish "quality vs quantity" relative to the #peepleader counts. ;) I think for ensō received, it would be cool to track specific peeps rather than totals by user. And for tips, track user totals.
I like tracking ensō per peep, and tips per user. Will implement these soon, thanks for suggesting!

I like turtles.
Welcome, Hubert! I like them too, small or large. Great #mtw!
All suggestions appreciated.

Hmm. I'm not sure of the benefit of a #peepleaders list, after all, it's inevitably going to be skewed towards early adopters. Perhaps separate lists for leaders today, this week, this month etc. would be a more meaningful system.
Good idea! Have added this to the queue. Thanks for suggesting.

I’d like a hashtag leaderboard. Plus I want to be able to see the leaderboards over different time periods. E.g. of all time, last 7 days, last 24 hours.
Good call for the leaders over time; have added this to the queue.

Hey all, what ICOs is everyone getting excited for? Personally I'm looking forward to CertiK, Market, Fantom, Ocean, and Egratia.
Hey Tony, welcome! Nice avatar image; looks like an Ensō!

thanks for the new features. perhaps it would be nifty to see the most frequently used hashtags as well? unsure if peeps are interested in that or not.
Thanks for suggesting! Just added it to peepeth.com/leaders. I'll be putting it somewhere else soon; maybe in a "Trends" sidebar.

List of peeps on peepeth.com UI might be more pleasant to browse, if reply would not show the original peep by default. I find it a bit tedious to see the same peep many times over. #peepeth
Thanks for the feedback, cryptobot. Thread view is in the queue.
Thanks all.

Nice to see a leaderboard. I’d also like to see #tips given and #tips received, as well as Ensō given and received.
Will be adding to it shortly. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey all! Hope you had a nice weekend. You can now invite your friends to Peepeth. Click "Invites" from the main menu to do so. You'll earn Peepeth Points for each friend you refer, and more if they verify their Twitter account or buy a mosquito badge.
There's also a leader board to showcase our #peepleaders and Peepeth points leaders. Would appreciate your feedback on those features, or on anything else.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

Thanks Bevan. So what happens if the user doesn't spend crypto to post her comments to the blockchain? Do her post remain in the Peepeth app but she just doesn't have the immutability feature via an additional post to the public blockchain? or is "unpaid" post removed?
Yes, the post remains on Peepeth, and is not immortalized until saved to the blockchain.

Looking forward to some bee peeps! :)

the final stage of internet the revolution begins with crypto currencies, and will really get going with the coming DAOs. Like the Enlightenment ushered in by the Dutch East India Co, future IOT smart contracts and the erudition of DNA will birth an unprecedented new world spirit

@Bevan Cool Dapp - keep it up! Still wrapping my head around all this. Is it really not possible for governments to block a network like this?
Hey Lily! Thanks for joining.
Peepeth.com is just a regular web app which can be taken down. However, it would be very hard for any group to censure the Ethereum blockchain, so anyone can make other apps that interface with the open data store.

Ether question - why does the same gwei amounts sometimes cost different amounts in USD? For example I just did two back to back transactions at a gas price of 1 gwei, the first cost $.20 the second $.09
Good question. I'd guess that the TX that cost 0.20 likely used more gas total. Or maybe your wallet gave you a faulty USD estimate for the first TX (maybe hadn't been refreshed in awhile?).

After I post, my message is live (but not yet on the blockchain). Where is this messaged stored? in Peepeth database? Is it correct to think that Peepeth is using a traditional db for performance optimization followed as quickly as possible by blockchain post for immutability?
Yes, that's correct. It saves to IPFS immediately, makes its own representation in a traditional DB, and then the hash gets saved to the blockchain at the peeper's leisure.
Replying to @PaulBaier (0x5c9f8c228f0988671c08698e3564bdd7592beec5)
Why are these apps called "decentralized apps". Since the front ends are proprietary and centralized, would a more precise term be "apps using decentralized data store?"
That would be a more accurate description for Peepeth. APPUDDS unfortunately doesn't have the same ring to it :)

@bevan any reason why you have chosen the turtle as the default background image for new profiles?! I am not sure whether this has been asked before ;)
The orange of the back and the blue of the water somewhat match the color scheme here, but the real reason will remain a mystery for awhile longer :)

I think it's a humpback but I'm not sure. It's pretty rare to see them in the bay. That day there were 3-4; and some kite surfers were riding right next to them.
Kind of hard to see... but the wave just south of the kitesurfer is a whale.

Thank you @bevan! While I have you here, any idea why that preview got wiped out?
I believe it's because the preview image cannot be served over https. Were Peepeth to show it, browsers would warn Peepeth users that the page is not secure (since Peepeth is over https). I'll make it not show anything if that's the case, rather than showing the broken link icon.
