inviting new peeps, we need to grow this baby!
Appreciate your willingness to help! Have fixed the issue from earlier; "Invites" now appears in the menu whether signed in or not, and also in the footer (on desktop). Have also increased the daily invite limit. Thanks to all who've invited friends!

This is so exciting :-) Can we help somehow?
Thanks for asking. Right now the best way to help is to Peep and invite friends :)

Hey Alex, once you click "Sign in" and then refresh the page, it should be in that menu. I'll make that more clear.

@Bevan- what was the inspiration for creating a penguin as the Peepeth mascot? Besides the Ethereum logo used for the beak, is there any connection to Linux since their mascot is also a penguin? #peepquestions
No connection to other brands (other than the beak). Wanted to make something less clinical and more human, while still referencing crypto. Also, I like penguins! #PMA @MattJohnson

I thought of the default avatar as a bird or a fish. Of course it is the Peepeth beak which is the Ethereum logo. Very nice @bevan
Thanks! The artist graciously included a few extra elements with the final design, and this was one of them. Sideways, it's like a paper sailboat.

What is the plan? Will users be able to select their own IPFS nodes? :-)
Most likely, yes! Will peep when I have this ready, but there are some big things ahead in the queue.

@bevan - does Peepeth maintain its own IPFS node in order to ensure permamance of the peeps? Is there a way to know how many nodes peepeth is pinned to? Any peepers set up a node to help preserve Peepeth - @abcoathup? #peepquestions
Peepeth is using Infura's nodes, but there will likely be a dedicated one soon.
@sponnet made this tool so that others can pin Peepeth content:

I'm not, but it's been mentioned here a few times so I'll see if an integration is possible. Thanks for mentioning.

Will Peepeth get a mobile app? Real heads want to know.
Yes @Lion is right, one is in the works but it might be awhile. Also check out https://peepeth.com/help/mobile for more about peepin' on the go.

I like the Most Popular Hashtags list. Adding metrics such as # of new users (by month), # of peeps (by month) # of countries represented and Day with most new users (provide date/count) would also show the increased momentum for the site.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'd like to add these and more soon; have added to list.

we are building this FULLY decentrlaized exchange: https://blog.gnosis.pm/tagged/dutchx It will be controlled by a DAO and it would be nice if its #Peepeth handle could also be controlled by the same DAO. If you have some tips how to do it - let me know.
Also- if you DM me on Twitter @bevanbarton I can share some more details.

Luckily they don't actually bite or scratch you, but it's still super weird! I jumped on a nearby picnic table the first time they "charged" me. Their aggression pays off though; many of them are huge.

Really appreciate the notice! That bug would have been hard to track down otherwise.

ok - so if I understand correctly - somehow a well formed IPFS object needs to be created an than a peepeth user can essentially associate the content with their account by posting this hash to the core peepeth contract?
Yes, exactly!

I wish #Peepeth allowed us to customize the #IPFS gateway to use to increase decentralization! :)
Thanks for suggesting. Infura's nodes have been performing very well, and others have been pinning Peepeth content, but I'd like to offer a custom gateway option too.

Why do you care about Twitter verification?
Good question. Mainly because it helps introduce people on Twitter to Peepeth. If enough people join, it could also be a meaningful source of revenue.

To be clear, what is the funds collected from verifying twitter put to?
Thanks for asking. Those funds cover oracle fees and put food on the table. More importantly, it spreads the word about Peepeth:

Thanks! I just saw they don't accept Ether. I'm going to send an email asking that they include it in their plans if possible.
Thank you! I've also been in contact with them. They currently need a BitPay-like service to accept crypto, and no such service seems to exist for ETH.

hey, idea. i'd love it if i could 'donate' through this native interface into a fiat gateway to pay it. imagine on the slider if you had the badge and the value ($20) next to it ;) now THAT would be neat ;)
That's an awesome idea. Unfortunately I don't think such a service exists (Bitpay for ETH). Should only be a matter of time though!

Is is possible to have a #peepeth account controlled by a smart contact/ DAO? (I understand that a key for signing is required but a contract could have the right to delegate/change that key)
Hey Martin, thanks for joining. Yes, a contract should be able to use Peepeth. A Peepin' DAO is a cool idea!
All suggestions for the site appreciated.

Where does the money for a mosquito badge go?
Good question. All money goes to purchasing long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets. The Against Malaria Foundation has consistently been ranked one of the most effective charities worldwide. To learn more:

those squirrels are definitely up to something...
Haha, they sure are. They're part of a family of aggressive and obese squirrels near the beach picnic area. If you stand still, pretty soon there'll be a crowd of 20 or so around you.
