Hmm
Nice find Victor!
The server validates actions coming in from "the wild" (ie the blockchain / other front-ends). Validations are even more important because actions that bypass the frontend are to be expected. That field's validation, however, wasn't being triggered on update.

I think the backend only stores lowercase - so the fronend can display any capitalization @MiStRa
That's right!

Well if you can yes, thank you. But why can just dev modify it? (and actually why can dev modify my things without my private key?)
All usernames are recorded on the smart contract in lowercase. Peepeth.com, however, displays the name as you entered it. I can only change that server representation of your blockchain account.
Replying to @Mistra (0x000500b81c9b361ed7d4daebc184029ec3b402f1)
1st post gone and I've already seen I mistyped the name, the second I goes not capital. There's no way one can modify that right? Damit!
I can fix this for you. Would you like your username to appear as @mistra? The names are actually not case sensitive, so it's just a stylistic change.

There are, thanks for asking! Definitely a great feature to have.

Making a crowdfunding video today. The process is more time consuming than I expected, but it's coming together.

How many peeps do we need a day in order to clog the network like crypto kitties did?
*and you're peeping for free because you verified your Twitter (thank you!).
Previous explanation may not have been too clear, but the idea is that Peepeth can basically save everyone's actions in just about one TX every hour or so.

How many peeps do we need a day in order to clog the network like crypto kitties did?
Turns out the number of TXs is independent of the number of peeps, since you're now peeping for free (which means Peepeth batches peeps of everyone who is peeping for free, and sends them in a single transaction, roughly hourly). For more: http://peepeth.com/help/signing

Thank you! I just found the links. Guilty of making noise instead of searching more carefully first. Two things I noticed: (1) your replies were not easy to notice when looking at my main page. Maybe show how many replies there are to a peep? (2) @colinleath is me, not collin
Oh, sorry Colin, I was thinking "unusual spelling!" but it was just my eyes :)
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, replies should be displayed better. The original message should, however, show the number of replies next to the "reply arrow".
Thanks to Dan @roseman for buying a Mosquito badge!

Thanks to everyone for verifying your Twitter accounts!
@miles0711, @RMBLRX, @cryptofelixleon, @jwhat, your verifications have gone through. It sometimes takes several hours, depending on network / oracle.
FYI: after verifying, you can peep for free!
@collinleath Re: Twitter thread on privacy, the signup flow makes the privacy risks clear (not addressed in that thread). I'd like to make the warnings even more clear; would appreciate suggestions on how to do so!

How does IPFS work? Who pays? Searching for that & for the peepeth github brought up some discussions of peepeth when it was first announced: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16815967 and redd.it/r/ethereum/comments/87k9iz/presenting_peepeth_a_decentralized_alternative_to/
Right now Peepeth is using Infura's IPFS infrastructure (super helpful), although Peepeth is also running a node.

Searching peepeth for the link to the source code. Not seeing anything on github. How does this thing work?
Hey Collin, thanks for asking. The protocol is open, the front-end is closed. Plan to release open-source front-end at some point. For more on how it works: peepeth.com/how and peepeth.com/front_end

15/ I'm also bringing back Tech-Free Sundays... aka no phone/laptop at all. Perhaps also will experiment again with setting my phone to grayscale (less color = less interesting). Well, it's time for me to head off to enjoy a quieter, more ignorant existence. See you on Saturday!
We'll miss your posts, but it's a great idea. Enjoy your week!
I was toying with the idea of turning Peepeth off one day per week. Not actually going to do it, but I like the concept of downtime as a feature :)

5/ No more checking & posting on LinkedIn/Twitter/even Peepeth, except Saturday. No more Hacker News, except Saturday. I'll also be deleting the apps off my phone. Emails I’ll try to restrict, but they’re a special case.
I like this idea too (although we'll miss you during the week!)
I've found that turning off all notifications is nice for phone-only messenger apps.

2/ I quit most of my social media back in 2017 and noticed a huge increase in productivity, focus, and infact stronger connections with a smaller amount of friends (due to getting everyone possible onto WhatsApp, which forced me into a 'pull' system of individual conversations)
I've found the same thing. 1-1 chats have increased my quality of life, and social media has generally not.

@bevan Could you publish a script to output a csv of all of the IPFS hashes for a given account’s content? That way a user can pin all of their content themselves if they wish.
Thanks for suggesting this, Lev. I'd like to add this. In the meantime there's @sponnet's Peepeth pinner: https://peepeth.com/sponnet/peeps/QmTAAv1ceApLzfXx9kTXgsEbWHUpNdEM934VNzcvHViGpy

It's good! Easing back into it because of injuries and inactivity, but I go twice a week and weight lift a few days a week too. I try to enjoy both in moderation these days!
That sounds like a good balance. I know what you mean; I'm trying to balance out the weights and workouts with a little more yin. Also easing back in because of an injury.

Welcome, Troels! Looking forward to hearing your music. Thanks for being here.
