Feeling like reborn after a 2-day fight against the influenza virus.

Lots of sleep and meditation and - besides some ibuprofen against the headache - without medication it feels great to be back.

Any recommendations for a free meditation app for Android? Used Headspace but need to pay to use it further. Not sure if it's really worth it.

I wholeheartedly recommend keeping a micro journal. I use @helloDaylio (Tw) and it feels good to go back through all the short mementos and glimpses of personal highs and lows. 778 days so far and going strong. I think @bevan is using it as well.

Thanks for recommendation Mario. Is this app secure? For example, where does it save the records? Local or on a webserver?

“Make your own Bible. Select and collect all the words and sentences that in all your readings have been to you like the blast of a trumpet.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson ^This technique will provide some very interesting insights.

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Truth 2:
Bad days and thoughts happen. I wrote them down yesterday and re-read them today. Got some interesting insights. Maybe it's worth doing this every day? Will see. Trying out some yoga today.

Truth 1:
I'm standing at my desk, wrote down one and a half A4 pages of nonsense and still don't know how to start. Struggling with nearly everything right now. Did mediate before (1st day after a while) and tried to clear my mind a bit. But didn't help alot. Brain says gaming...

Satya Nadella's 'Hit refresh'. But didn't come too far in the last weeks. Not enough time to read a significant part in one.

Although many will attest to wanting to be told the truth (including me), telling it un-tactfully can sour relationships. I think our lizard brains know that, and create resistance / fear to truth-telling. *Tactfully* overriding that instinct is a worthwhile exercise.

Haha, you're just saying what I thought (and wrote as an answer to another peep just seconds ago 😂).

I can handle the truth much better than discovering it between lies afterwards.

Unfortunately that is not how many people see it. These days telling the truth is often classified as hate speech. Especially telling someone they are fat. Feelings are more important than facts. I prefer the truth myself.

I think it depends on the topic as well the situation and the way you tell somebody the truth. The direct but hard way indeed offends the most while providing a reasonable explanation often helps a lot. At least for me.

I agree. However, I think one can be honest without volunteering every thought that comes to mind :) Sam Harris wrote a great and very short essay/book called Lying about the value of *always* telling the truth, something almost nobody does.

I didn't say that one should speak out loud every thought. :) Sometimes it's better to just think than talk. But if it's time to tell somebody smth, it's better to tell the truth.

Will see to check the book out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Honesty is the best policy. No it isn't. Examples: I don't like any of your friends. You look really fat in that dress. I think your mother is really sexy. Your baby is very ugly. Honesty is rarely the best policy.

I think honesty is still the best policy. Sure, it's offending to tell someone that he 'looks fat' but one can only change smth if he/she knows the truth.

For me it's better to have a few honest beople around than a dozen of lies going through the days.

Life is hard these days.

Thanks for your feedback. I don't think about cutting smth since we don't talk about the school itself but an additional offer for the youth (and also it would lead to a political character😉). Will share some more Info on the project in the coming days.

Very interesting movie. Not that scary but interesting how the disability to see develops a better sense of hearing and feeling. Even if it's just a partial disability in this case.

Knowing yourself, your passions and habits can be a good way of self-reflection and may help to find those secret #talents.

Sometimes it needs hard decisions to help this. For me it helped to quit my job and getting self employed nearly a year ago.

I don't regret this.

Haha OK. Met some people who really had the opinion you tried to project. Thats why I thought you were serious. 😂

Babies, never as much fun as you'd think they'd be. Once you bring them home the novelty soon fades. Then you realize you've got to take care of them for at least 18 years. Unless you live in the developing world of course there you can sell it to a Hollywood celebrity.

I don't agree. The opportunity to help such a small and fragile creature to grow up and develop an own life makes it interesting. Sure, there are those 'bad' times too. But the feedback one gets from a baby values way more IMO.

Jan 08, 2019 18:04

Someone once told me that everyone is rich in a special kind.

Everybody has some kind of talent.

Some of us don't even know it.

If you get to know your #talent, find a way to let others gain value from it while maintain happiness and value for yourself.
