No, don't see Syria, that was one huge snakepit of propaganda. But do see things like Ebola (bio) or Sarin (chem). Flouride - as an example of a government using a chemical weapon on their own people? On a small scale, but still... Glad to realise you are a fan of science 😉

It gets back to my main premise, which is that science is agnostic. It has no inherent good or bad properties. But we, our species, we definitely have both, and we use science for both. When the next world war happens, which it will, we'll use all our science.

So, you think we should abandon all science because someone somewhere "might" drop a bomb? You're right in one way, but it's the same as a drunk in a bar fight grabbing a bottle because it's the best available weapon... Btw, I think chemical warfare is far more likely

No, I do not think we should abandon science. I'm simply arguing that science has not made us better people. It has given us more abilities which has allowed us to forgo war and avoid confrontation, but it's only buying time because we're using science for greed, mostly.

No no no. I love science. It is our birthright. Chemical weapons, see Syria. Scientific ability is agnostic. It is meaningless. It can be used to incinerate people or save them. It has been and is being used for both purposes.

Is it possible that we can evolve out of our tribalism and actually work as a unified species to not destroy the planet with out technology? Can we live as a single species? Can we love each other as family? It's a yes/no question.

I prefer the term "nuclear power", which could be used as an energy source reducing our use of finite resources even further. Power is neither good or bad, that rests in the hands of humans. To date, only one country has been idiotic enough to use a nuclear weapon.

Noted, and well put. Nuclear power has enormous positive potential. But we, collectively, have demonstrated that we will use all available technology in times of war. I foresee the use of tactical nuclear weapons. Do you really think it won't happen? Who is going to stop it?

Hmmm, but what about those who are starving. Where is our science. We have enough food and medicine to save everyone. Yet war prevails. Science is bullshit without love. In fact, science, without love, is evil. Science is agnostic. Science is nothing. It is empty.

If the scientific method is applied without love, then what is it? What is it being used for? The Nazis did very well with it, as do the pharmaceutical companies, and where will AI take us? Has science really, truly made us a better species?

Say this to the mothers that don't have to prepare their kids' funerals bc we have vaccines, water standard, heated homes, no famine in the modern (science-equipped) world. I think most people feel way more charitable with full belies&no vindictive gods ruling the world = science

Science is not a "fix", it is science. Facts and cold, hard logic. It never promised to make anyone more "human". But since we don't live in caves and wander round with spears eating each other, it could be argued there has been some progress in 10,000 years.

We are killing each other less over resources because science has allowed us to extend our use of finite resources. We can grow more food, etc., but at the same time, science has given us nuclear weapons. We are living in a golden age. Savor it while you can.

#unpopularopinion Science has done nothing to improve humanitarianism. It has improved quality of life, but it could be argued that our humanitarianism is actually decreasing. Science so far has been a short term fix. We treat each other the same we did 10,000 years ago.

So, given that humanitarianism is a constant, science is giving us more power to destroy ourselves. Because our humanitarianism is not increasing, and our environment is dying, we will use our science for tribal survival, hence nuclear or bio war. Science is increasing.

Very nice. It's very freeing to realize that one does not have to understand in order to appreciate. We're always trying to define an experience in order to appreciate it. That's not necessary. We can simply accept an experience without categorizing it. Language is a dictator.

Travel tips: On a long international flight with multiple stops, never make the last hop a short one. It's the most likely to get canceled and you'll be stuck, feeling like shit, not having slept in 30+ hours. Make sure the last hop is a money maker for the airline.

It feels like such a waste to lose train lines. Walking/cycle paths are the next best option but I would love them to be used for trains.

Oddly, at one point trains marked the US as the most advanced country in the world, and now the absence of trains marks the US as the most backwards country. We are watching the disintegration of what will be the shortest lived empire in the history of the world. Naivete bites.

Great point! After all, the definition of a weed is essentially any plant that's in the wrong place at the wrong time, to us as humans.

Correct, and unfortunately we are viewing more and more of our natural environment as being in the wrong place at the wrong time, not only plants, but animals and insects as well.

The biggest roadblock to crypto adoption is the cost and complexity of acquiring crypto in the first place. I'd be spending way more crypto if it weren't so costly or time consuming to replace. Until I'm earning crypto or can cheaply get it, I won't be spending it much.

I shouldn't have to point out that by cost, I mean the cost paid to exchanges. If the cost can come down to < 0.25%, I'm all in. By complexity, I mean I don't want hassle with uploading to an exchange and doing trades, then being left with change. We need clean, easy, fast, cheap
