Hi all, how's it going? -Notifications can now be hidden. -Notification bell is reset when you visit that page. -All URLs now turn into links. -Fixed "NSFW" hashtag issue. -"Show New Peeps" floats on top of all content. -Clicking Peeps opens them more reliably. Thanks everyone.
Something I have noticed is that links all auto-adjust to the 'title' tag from the remote page. Any way to have that show the actual link verbiage rather than the remote title of the page? Perhaps even as a personal account setting (auto-convert hyperlinks?). Whatcha think?

@bob - sending you my tokenized reaction in the form of some PEEP tokens. You can't buy a grouper sandwich at Frenchy's with them though......
Thanks bud. I sent you somma DEEZ in return. ;)
Also, Frency's? Are you from the 727 too? XD

Does anyone know of a "noob support group" for Solidity anywhere?
@abcoathup: The best one-man Solidity support group on the interwebs3.0 ;)

Ok folks what's your guilty pleasure coin/token in #crypto? Everybody has one that gets the side eye when it's mentioned, haha. Mine is #TRX, it gets crapped on a lot but I still love it's mission and what it might do.
I have been out of alts pretty much since early January. The last coin I made good gains on was #XRP. Bought in at $.20 and sold at $2, so did OK there. :)
Until a few days ago, I was all in on a personal project of mine.. Now my guilty pleasure is #P3D... for the lulz. ;)

There sure is, thanks for bringing that up Surya. It's nice to acknowledge posts without replying. In the meantime, peepers have been sharing with the #lkie hashtag :)
Ohhhhhhh.. Thats what #lkie means! XD
I thought it was some new internet thing I wasn't hip to. Makes total sense now. :p

@bevan you've rebuilt twitter with a wildly different engine, cost-structure & value proposition. In your opinion, how long before somebody rebuilds Facebook, LinkedIn? Github? ...Newzbin? ...or the USPTO?
Github on the blockchain: #nextlevel #meta ;)

Would it be rude or impolite to enquire as to roughly how much money people did 'give'....... A surprisingly high amount or really low? Just a curious soul really.
Not rude or impolite at all. It is totally a matter of public record forever and immutably enshrined on the etherchain. ;)
As of this #peep, people around the world have spent 4.855847614 ETH on DeezNuts! :p

I think it's in the spirit of several "ludicrous" open pyramid schemes. If it's openly a pyramid scheme... should we call it an investment game? ... Some of these have ended up being "hacked" before people could exercise their ability to exit... fwiw.
I had a similar moral debate with myself after I launched DeezNuts... if you blatantly and openly make a "joken" and people still give you money, is it technically a "scam"? Then I remember all of the other stupid stuff people spend their money on and I can sleep at night. ;)
Some people spend their "fun money" on drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or video games... I spend mine on #ethereum.... Pretty sure my wife would rather I do drugs.. XD

Twitter asked me what was on my mind. I had just signed up. So I tweeted "Desperately trying to figure out what Twitter is while eating my cheese sandwich." It is nine year's ago. It feels good figuring out Peepeth. I'm less desperate, but still eating cheese sandwich. Hello?
Is this thing on? *tap tap*
Tough crowd :/
OK.. Totally not a shill, but PoWH3D is quite possibly the most hilarious thing to happen on the Etherchain to date. I can't stop laughing, at their site, smart contract, the whole project. Thank you to whoever posted about it first here! ;)

Number of peeps for each users (and followers/following) are now visible on each user's page on mobile, along with the follow button. peepeth.com/stats is now up (very basic) and various other fixes. Other updates soon!
Nice work. Gotta figure out how to get you paid. In the meantime, here's some beers on me man.

Though don’t want to build addiction (I already peep a lot). Also need to find ways to monetise so that the platform is sustainable and @bevan gets to eat. Maybe tipping is enough, though may need microtips (10 cents)
Certainly don't want to encourage addiction, but the psychological response to recognition is there.. It like.. releases endorphins and good feels when another person gives you praise.
Selling props (#propsforpeeps) could be a monetization strategy. ;)

Thinking reputation systems. On peepeth we have how long someone has been peeping, who was first with a hashtag. (@Hannah has some of the best ones) The client doesn’t show number of peeps (yet). Nor is there any review of quality. (My quantity is high, not sure about quality)
I think one of the main draws that has made other social platforms successful is the ego boost they provide when others like or share their content. It is that reward system that keeps people coming back. As much as I don't like the model, a rep/stats system is what hooks people.

Permanence is the thing that’s finally going to make people take what they post online seriously 👌🏼
We can only hope. The wayback machine has been making online archival permanance a thing for quite some time, but social media has been relatively exempt.
If a #peep lands on the blockchain and noone sees it, is it still immutable?

@bob Agreed. But with scaling in the future, isn't the cost of gas going to be less relevant in being a barrier to dApp use?
I guess the cost of interacting with the chain is impacted by whether you view ether as a fuel (relatively inelastic) or a commodity for trade (relatively elastic). A good enough dApp and people won't mind paying a little more for fuel, while others may shy away from speculation.

Gas/Transactions cost going down are a good thing for incentivising. What I mean is when the value of the coin is dropping ppl might not want to spend their .0025 ETH because it now buys them less.
Oh man, a whole new branch of economics is being born... now we need a study on the elasticity of demand of dApps as it relates to the fluctuation of relative ether value. ;)

Does ETH losing some of its value today make people post less? Later on I wonder if the charts for activity on here and ETH move the same.
I would imagine it would have the opposite effect. As the cost of gas/transactions decline, people should be incentivized to us dApps more, because each blockchain interaction is relatively cheaper. If anything I would think an inverse correlation could develop over time.

@pinastri Noticed you're in Toronto. Do you know anyone at https://cryptochicks.ca/ by any chance? Trying to get them invites. Peepeth is only 1-2% women!
A bit of data I gathered from my Twitter and Facebook Analytics: Across both platforms, even though female interest in crypto/blockchain is about 5% vs 95% male, engagement and interaction is closer to 25% female vs 75% male. Women are more likely to get involved and take action!
#peepeth: A penny for your thoughts ;)

I'm just curious, why linking to my existing Twitter account coasts $2 instead of 0.7, when MetaMask askes me to accept transaction O_o
Try lowering your gas cost in MetaMask. I think there is a temporary workaround defaulting costs to 2.2 for now, but you should be able to save by manually adjusting the gas cost down at the expense of speed
I never thought I would be cool with the idea of paying to post, but then I realized that this means no advertisements and a totally organic platform and I fell in love with the whole thing!

Haha. "deleting unsaved peeps" is still in the queue. Also a possibility of users deleting their saved peeps from this front-end, what do you think?
I like the idea of immutability. It forces users to think more before posting and committing to the etherchain... I also like being able to quickly edit or delete mistakes from the front-end before they have been committed.

@bevan #bug External links on profile pages are appended to "https://peepeth.com/", resulting in a link to "https://peepeth.com/your.link". The link displays correctly on the profile, but actual href is wonky. (Only tested on Toshi)
Of course its because I left off http:// from the start of the link... just saw it working on another page. Looks like I get an immutable foot in mouth on the blockchain. ;)

I think the challenge is to get non-crypto friends and family using peepeth.
Would be a sweet way to introduce them to a practical application of blockchain tech... a sort of stepping stone for those who love social media but see all of crypto as fake internet money... but I'm already the crazy dude who doesn't shut up, so I'm maybe not the best emissary
This is either going to be the most epic experiment on the Ethereum blockchain to date, or crypto's largest echo chamber. Either way, I am psyched!
