the mute button is powerful

it is your own key to your own kingdom, so to speak.

Whoops. Let's not *all* simultaneously throw the manual at the new members of the community. I'll let you do it the rest of the day.

i think it's great that we were totally on the same page at pretty much the same time, without hardly missing a beat. :) it was like that phenomenon with yawns. (sort of? almost.) and i think you have a better voice/approach, to be honest!

https://www.startpage.com/ - gives access to google search results without revealing user's information.

i love startpage!!! been using it for years. sometimes i feel it's not as accurate as google, though. also, sometimes i need to refer to google for insane auto-complete searches because they are often too hilarious to pass up.

Make "you" a millionaire? Crypto is not about making one individual rich. It's about breaking down barriers and giving people the opportunity to change their socioeconomic status. If there was a dislike button i would use it but for now i'll just have to settle for the #mute.

Could a Chromebook work? I've spent too much fiddling with Linux. Now I'd just use the chrome apps and or something like c9.io plus a server on a cloud somewhere if I want to run a crypto node. I tried to run linux (galliumOS) on old Chromebook last, but missed an important step

the PC laptop is for gaming and eventual baking/cooking streams. so it would definitely be a more gaming-branded laptop. :) i do plan to build a desktop somewhere down the line as well, to handle more heavy games and projects. thanks for the suggestion!

Streaming kitchen you say? Super interested in that space. Have plans (dreams? aspirations? ideas?) myself. Keep me in the loop re: your plans with that, huh?

but of course i will! i want to specifically use my expertise as a pastry/culinary person to show people how to bake and even do some cooking streams. i'd probably also do some variety gaming with my friends, but mostly stick to what i know best. :)

Linux runs well on many devices. Just sayin'. :-)

it's more for casual gaming and future-streaming-in-the-kitchen purposes. :) when i am able to afford living on my own again, i will be building a desktop that will no doubt run linux as well. baby steps!

Took me some time to remember what I used on OS X a couple of years ago. It was TextExpander. But you might be better off with Alfred, it's cheaper, if nothing else :) Keep an eye on software bundles for macOS, such as https://mac-bundles.com or https://bundlehunt.com/.

shoots! i am actually planning to get a higher powered windows laptop soon (my first personal foray into the PC world), but i will be keeping my macbook as a back-up for as long as it lives. these links are very helpful, thank you friend!!

Alfred? That macOS app?

yes. i would like to use the "snippets" portion of the app, by which you can load in emoji and bring them up with just a keyboard command, but it's a paid feature. it's on my list of upgrades for the future, but definitely not a priority as of now. :) emojipedia is a blessing.

this issue has been made known before. i do believe it's on the to-do list. :) the tweet you've posted here does bring up a good point. what is great about muting on peepeth is that you have the power to do so, just as much as you have the power to call someone out.

if you're going to go the latter route, i think the best possible course of action may be to refer to the peepeth terms, which can be found underneath the side bar on the right. encouraging thoughtfulness and nurturing positivity are a big part of what makes this community great.

Basic healthcare isn’t a right world wide. It is still a priveledge. I hope that more countries citizens vote to provide it. I feel so luck that my family can call an ambulance, can have major surgery and these not send us into massive debt.

i am happy that you don't have to suffer extreme debt in those cases. when applying for jobs, i ended up accepting one that pays far less but offers benefits. having to "shop around" when employment is already so hard to come by really shouldn't be a thing to worry about.

4) we are incredibly lucky in the U.S. that we would have a choice at all to decide whether or not our fellow citizens are equally covered under health care reform. many others in poorer nations and governments are not so lucky. we take it for granted.

5) but there are enough people here still hyper focusing on the notion that they are “paying for others” and consistently choosing to go backward. so, many of us are trapped, while laws and policies that have helped us are now overturned and the opioid epidemic rages on.
