Mokens also has a forgery system. So if a moken is created called "Thor God of Thunder" and then another moken is created called "Thor" but they are both about the god of thunder, then the second Thor would be marked and displayed as a forgery.

What are you using to determine this, the Description input? If so, are you using keywords or a word for word comparison to flag as a forgery?

Wouldn't the opposite of loving something (a feeling of caring) be hating something (a feeling of anger)? Indifference to me is neither loving nor hating.

I want ethereum game developers to use mokens in their games and attached valuable metrics to them that are used in their games. So if someone makes a race car moken and increases its speed value in the game, then that make it more valuable and so can sell for a higher price.

I think you have the basis of a good idea and hope you develop it to be successful. Is there anything stopping someone else from using your idea and creating their own version doing the same thing? If there isn't, I would think the one with the best qualities will win out

Interesting ideas. I decided not to ban mokens. Instead I can hide inappropriate mokens from my website. I am planning to allow the users of mokens vote for the price to mint new mokens. This gives users more control and I think will enhance quality of mokens.

I assume you make something out of each moken created? Could a majority of users collude and vote on a crazy low price? If so, I would recommend you set a minimum creation price.

If someone else created a second "Thor" then it would be labeled a forgery. In the future I want to create a contract that enables people to vote with the mokens about which mokens are forgeries and the website can use that as the source of forgery info.

Could you build into the logic something that would reject a name if it has already been created (bump up against a ref table). So "Thor" moken and "Thor God of Thunder' are both okay, But a second Thor moken would not be allowed to be created.

Fair, but if the primary value of decentralization is avoiding censorship, etc. then presumably someone is saying something of value that someone else would like to censor. It seems unlikely that Big Brother will care about removing cat pics (with all due respect to the felines!)

I think that users of Peepeth can craft their peeps based on either of the points you both are making. Some people may want to be more thoughtful about what they post as it's permanence is a factor. Others may want to peep freely like they normally would on Twitter.

So while I personally don’t ususally have much to say that I think is worth saving for very long. How about reporting events or posting photos that are worth archiving? I feel much more comfortable with this idea.

That sounds like a great idea to me. There are "Peeple/Peepers" on Peepeth from all over the world who have reported on events and shared pictures from their location. Looking forward to your perspective.

Replying to @davjdav (0x083dc4ac009e5d2d89fc1ef3e2e125d3b15509ef)

Rather than just facilitating conversations like other social media, it seems to me that the archival value of the blockchain is unique.

Being uncensorable, decentralized and permanent is a unique feature of Peepeth when compared to other social media. Archival value will most certainly be an important factor to some users who face censorship.

So, it’s been a week since my first peep and I haven’t followed up with another. I’ve thought of posting, but the permanence of the post seems to have created a high bar for relevance. I think, “This doesn’t need to exist forever,” and then decide not to post.

Permanence does make one think. Nice to hear from you again, David.

It is kind of far-fetched but the M comes from made, as in user-made. Almost all cryptocollectibles are created by programmers and their algorithms. Not mokens. Mokens are user-designed and user-Made! Really, I just needed an easy, unique name for what I was doing.

I think it makes sense. Maken might have been an option (Made-Token), but, I would have only thought about bacon.

Solution to optimize cheap adoption and spam control is some kind of PoS system (like Casper) where everyone posts a bond in Eth, the amount you can peep is related to your bond amount, and some Validators can forfeit your bond if you spam. No spam, no fee. Obv harder to code.

But what price would you set the bond at? A lot of people don't have an amount of $ they can set aside at one time. Also, by determining Peep volume based on the $ amount of your bond it would favor those with more means.

Upfront cost impacts the ROI of spam but also adoption. Current gas price appears to be hurting use and adoption (based on my reading of the stats). There may be a magic number above free. I love Peepeth and want it to be successful.

It's interesting that gas prices in increments of pennies (even @ current levels) are preventing a wider adoption. Even if you assume a .10 USD avg batch cost, it's only 130 bucks & that's for about ALL of the Peeps submitted to date ($1.60 for my 250 peeps over 2 months)

Great question Nate. Mokens cannot be duplicated. The contract enforces case-insensitive unique moken names. Beyond that the forgery system will mark any moken as a forgery on the moken website and in the mokens ethereum contract if it is about something an earlier moken is about

Thanks, Nick. I made my first Moken. Looks fun.

Why was the number 15 chosen for a batch? Why not 100 for a batch?

It's the title to a Taylor Swift song and Peepeth's creator @Bevan is a huge Taylor Swift fan.
Okay I'm kidding (sorry Bevan). I assume because it was decided that 15 is a good number to reduce post costs while still allowing for timely uploads to the blockchain.

One interesting thing about Mokens is the price to mint a new one goes up a little bit each time one is minted. I think I will launch mokens on the main net at a very low price like at 0.002 ETH or similar.

What is the reasoning for progressive pricing? Is the name the only thing that can't be duplicated? If so, could I just create a dupe of a Moken I may like by adding a period/character at the end? Are the attributes tracked?
