Nice paint job on that bird. If Tesla isn't already in Germany maybe they'll debut by pulling this beaut. Guess what airline snacks they serve?

Rug or compression mats and bare feet. I walk away from my desk a lot to think. I used a high stool in the early days when I needed a rest. I also caught myself leaning on the desk back then too - that was the biggest challenge, self awareness... also good music++

This is one of those ideas I've "dragged my feet on" for way too long. Time to take action. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I used to be so pro-conference. The theory was that they were great for making contacts. But the truth is I always find myself either talking to no one or talking too long to the wrong people. There doesn't seem to be a good solution.

Someone once told me to forget about networking, and to just make friends. That approach is fun, less stressful, and has been far more fruitful. Nonetheless, I feel similarly about conferences, as actually making good connections can still be hard.

I tried stacking some steps on my old desk but it just didn’t work for me. So now I am too much on the one position. Not good for the body.

I feel the same way. Wanted to build one but also want to be able to adjust it to seating level.

Anyone use a standing or treadmill desk? How often do you use it compared to sitting? If treadmill, how is it to type and walk?

Really? I find the slower dictation of books makes me remember things more, especially if I'm focused listening. Podcasts I easily zone out -however- I find that even if I'm only half paying attention I still remember little bits and it has a subconscious positive effect.

Books are weird and potent distillations of knowledge; a "novel" way to learn on the evolutionary timescale.

Can take me 2-3 passes to absorb books. 2x speed helps compensate for my monkey mind.

Conversational podcasts seem like a more natural way of learning.

Audiobooks are great! Hard to get into at first. Hard to focus on the words and meaning when you're used to words and pages. But it gets easier with time and I think I pick up more from audiobooks than books, now :)

I've found that listening to audiobooks at 1.5x or 2x speed makes it easier to focus. I usually listen to podcasts at normal speed though.

What do you think death is, man? Of whom do we speak when we speak of a man who was and is not? Are these blind riddles or are they not some part of every man’s jurisdiction? What is death if not an agency? And whom does he intend toward?

In convention, to keep death on your mind is 'morbid'. But I find it's one of the most liberating concepts ever. Death is something that will happen to all of us. Accepting and embracing it, is what allows us to make the most of our alive-time. That's why I remind myself of it.

I feel like this too. Audiobooks and podcasts have helped me get my learn on while AFK. Learning to appreciate tech/media breaks as well.
