The plan worked, kinda. At least my shoes were clean. But the bike had kilos of mud all over itself. The tires would lift it up, the fenders and the frame would scrape it off, then the mud falls into the brakes, panniers, chain, derailer.
Wow. How long was this stretch? When on two wheels, mud is my arch nemesis. Glad you're through.

Here you see a screenshot from Komoot, I saw some friends using it, so I'm giving it a chance, but I also run BikeComputer Pro in paralel, and use it to save daily segments. I yet have to find out if Komoot can do segments/sessions. ATM I'm keeping it paused over night 😅
I haven't tried that one. I've had good luck with maps.me, which uses open source maps and works offline (although not sure if it saves daily segments).

Let's play with maps: Follow the blue track #acrossRomania 1) turn left, wrong way, go back 2) go straight on... The sign says that it's a dead-end towards #5 3) This is not a way, this is a swamp! 4) and this is a cornfield, let me go around it, how big can it be...
Glad you're further east :) Funny how deceptive directions can be. What navigation app are you using?

It's 2009 Trek 4300 (ser. no. WTU042C0502C) Ha, it's on the blockchain now! 😁 The panel is 28W, theoretically could power even laptop, but I have never it. For me it usually tops up phones, cyclo-computer battery and as of this trip a Bluetooth speaker. The downside is its size,
Cool that it can power a laptop. I had a similar looking panel ~12 years ago (also for a bike trip) but almost never used it. Can you use it while riding?

Any idea, where do I get my referral link for invites? The settings drop down asks me to sign in and then does nothing
Hey J, yes, if you refresh the screen and then click "invites" it should appear. Working on fixing that.

* If options present data (i.e. wiki links for cats/dogs) you need a separate tweet for it * Comment integration -- many polls have a "WriteIn Vote" (ferrets) that receives a ton of likes. A "like threshold" value to auto-include a comment would be neat * 4 option max is weak
Thank, I'll consider these points when adding polls. I like the write-in option!

I have the same problem, what is the benefit of writing everything to the block chain? Isn't it enough that it is signed and saved in ipfs? Could replicating actions to the block chain be optional?
Currently, only those with over 100 peeps & who've reached the 10-day mark can sign their peeps in lieu of saving them to the blockchain directly. When peeps get signed (which proves authorship), Peepeth saves them for you. Documentation on that isn't clear yet.

I almost feel wasteful if I save my peeps without reaching the full 15... or at least make a second peep, like this one. ...Is that weird?
I wouldn't say so, I generally saved at 15 too.
FYI: once you hit 100 peeps and 10 days old, you can peep for free. It's not documented too well on here yet, will work on that.

I was used to find water fountains and clean streams #acrossRomania, but for the last 2 days and 150 km this was the first one, almost hidden. Next to it there's most likely a grave with XC (could be HC in Cyrillic) and what looks like a WW1 medal.
Interesting juxtaposition!
Is the fountain water potable as-is? How often do you pass through towns?

That song where Discovery channel is mentioned. These two decided to copulate on my saddle bags. Gently blowing AT them did not distract them at all. So, I waited. I always liked flies, but after 15 minutes of waiting for the gentleman on top to wrap it up,it's a whole new level.
Generations of flies will be grateful you for your patience :) Loving this series!

hmm... that might have made a better Poll. Does peepeth have polls? There's so much that could be improved on the twitter poll format.
No polls on Peepeth yet, thanks for mentioning. How could Twitter's polls could be improved?

Thanks for mentioning. The search is quite rudimentary now but will be improved.

Are there ideas to be gained from looking at Twitter? Why are there so many users there? Besides the Crypto wallet requirement, are there functions that Twitter has that Peepeth doesn't? If wallets become mainstream, would Peepeth draw as many users? What functions draw users?
Peepeth will have to take a different tack than Twitter and the others given their network effects and brands, but I think many lessons can be gleaned from them nonetheless. Yes, I think the wallet is a big, but not insurmountable obstacle. I'm optimistic.

-the ETH current block height? Or an entirely different metric? Or no badges at all? You’ve already done a great job with Peepeth- I reckon it just takes more of us spreading the word by mouth, manually onboarding, etc. & it’ll spread. 2/
Thank you. I agree the badges may not be necessary. I'm reluctant to add features, but also want to experiment while it's feasible.

@Bevan Badges are gamey and nifty. Since profile pic dims seem standardized, what are thoughts on borders as a supplement or replacement? Attached image is from an online game. Not implying you should rank peeps, just providing an aesthetic example.
This is neat, thanks for sharing. Will think about ways it could be adapted for Peepeth.

For the start perhaps a similar solutions to the existing one for the streaks, little tooltip that will say in how many hours we'll be able to give one away. Also, on https://peepeth.com/leaders Info pop-up on Peepstreaks cannot be dismissed when clicking on Got it button.
Thanks for bringing that up; have pushed a fix for the "got it" bug. Will also be adding an Enso timer/indicator.

Do we want to be encouraging as many Peeps & Ensos (Ensii?) as possible? If there is an incentive (cosmetic, status, or otherwise) that will make people want to post more & like/Enso more. You can argue that ^quantity will ^quality (also ^user adoption), but is it necessary?
Good points. How to encourage regular, but not excessive, engagement? Incentives that require only one action per day seem like worthwhile experiments, but it's an open question.

I'd actually rather see an Enso badge instead of a peepstreak badge. I.e badge the icon if user has given Enso each of the last 3 days.
That's a cool idea. Would be great to recognize people for their Ensō offerings.

Are Peepstreaks going to result in more meaningless posts, like this one?
It's a risk, and I see how streaks seem to clash with the Peepeth ethos. However, engagement (and making it fun) is important too, and not necessarily at odds with quality. Am hoping streaks stimulate a nice cadence of daily thoughts / high points, even if they're more casual.

So, someone invented 🔥 Peepstreaks 🔥 to punish me for intermittent peeping. Oh no... Well, might as well give people a double flame if they can peepstreak through to Twitter. Oh, and triple flame if they peep only! (Twitter account *only* contains peeps made on Peepeth.)
I like the double / triple flame idea. Will likely add other incentives / emojis for longer streaks.

I'd like to see Ensō feature improved. A timer until the next one is available or even better, a queue that would memorize peeps we wanted to give Ensō to and give it automatically once the timer allows it. @bevan also, perhaps username auto-complete :)
Thanks Mario! This is on the list.
Anyone have suggestions for a clever Ensō timer / indicator? Would also be nice to encourage Ensō use.

Any recommendations on how to continue after the first few tutorials? Frameworks I should get to know? Easiest way to making the connection to Ethereum and DApp-related development? Would love to hear some opinions from my fellow peepers :)
Jumping in to actual projects is how I've learned best. Tutorials are great when starting out, but applying those lessons to real problems is where the learning happens for me. Javascript is important for dapps and the web, too. Good luck!

Same here. Often when I want to peep something, I get stuck on checking the spelling and grammar - until I am not sure I even speak English anymore. Don't wanna put 'ze german english' on the blockchain :P
I know what you mean, happens to me too (minus the german part!). This phenomenon needs a name.
