By the way, what is your opinion on interchain projects like Dragonchain? Do they have a future or will the main blockchains just integrate those features long term?

To each their own. It's not for me to define, however I think many here would argue that the #ToS is unique to #peepeth. This gives the community a certain vibe. One of my personal reasons: have you ever seen any malicious or spam postings here? Me neither. I enjoy the serenity.

Actually there is no reason to spam a network with sub 5k users (same thing as Mac was long time unattractive for viruses). That will change for sure when there is user growth. Like everywhere.

May 01, 2019 08:35

Is there anywhere a detailed roadmap of peepeth?

We don't necessarily need to bridge users to new back end technologies, to attract them. Liken this to databases & storage: the average user doesn't care what's behind the front end, nor should we entice them w/technical stuff like "blockchain". My 2 wei only, of course!

So, what reason would anybody have to join peepeth as a normal social network? There are plenty of unused networks. What‘s the difference with peepeth when blockchain isn‘t user faced?

2.)Then it’s up to us fine folks here to share the good news of our Lord and Savior Bitcoin and all that is holy 😂 joking aside we would share, educate and enhance their knowledge of the benefits of blockchain. What they do with it after is up to them.

Yeah, no. That didn‘t work out the last 10 years, that will not work out the next 10 years. I think most people in crypto think from the wrong side. In Germany we call it „betriebsblind“. Think outside your bubble and think outside of your own knowledge.

On my first pass I read this as Oprah bringing dApps to the masses. Definitely agree. Key management in the browser itself (no plugin) first and then key management in the OS.

I agree too, Oprah would bring dApps to the masses in no time. 😂

It's a goal, but not the ultimate one. They'll be educated about the benefits of managing their own key, and probably incentivized with a badge or feature.

Sorry, i don‘t get it. What i understand: Peepeth opens up for non-blockchain users without the direct goal to convert them? So, basically, for them, it is just another social network? Why would you think that would attract people? Why don‘t you bridge them to blockchain?

Thought experiment: You’ve got a year left to live. How would you change your life? Which of those changes would benefit you regardless of your lifespan?

Well, since it would be one year, there is no reason to do something that benefits me. I wouldn‘t change my life but the one from others I care about.

Would appreciate anyone kicking the tires on this feature. Soon, users will be able to sign up with just email and I imagine that'll be how most new peepers use Peepeth at first.

Any plans already on how „to convert“ those users to blockchain users? Or isn’t that the ultimate goal for peepeth?

What do you write about?

Consumer Tech (German Site though). That’s why I tap into dApps at the moment after watching for several years. I totally see Opera bringing dApps to the masses which I didn‘t see in apps like Trust or Toshi Wallet. 😃

Tipping sends BAT to the publisher's account with Uphold (a crypto exchange: https://uphold.com/). Afterwards, said publisher can withdraw BAT into their own wallet, or convert the coins into other cryptos, or convert their BAT into fiat. The choice is theirs! :)

Thanks for the info, will look into this. 👍 And, from publishers perspective, thanks for tipping your favs. Sadly tipping authors is a niche thing.

I tip a lot with BAT because I don't have Twitter/Telegram. There is just so much trash being published under the guise of "articles" or "reports" that when I read a good one, I just have to let the writer/publisher know with a tip. It's easy and it doesn't "cost" me much. :)

So you reward them directly or through some system that manages the tips?

Apr 29, 2019 16:12

Yeah, my Ambo Lambo arrived. 😃 Would have never seen it without peepeth.

Apr 29, 2019 16:11

I really wonder how you could fall for that. I mean it is not that the ledgers are in the hands of uneducated masses. People are intelligent enough to be early in crypto AND use a hardware wallet and then they give up their recovery phrase because a software tells them to?

Apr 28, 2019 18:15

Any publishers around? What are your experiences with blockchain reward systems, like Brave rewards? Worth the time or still too early? I would say too early to implement now, but very promising.

If they don’t modify or shorten links it should still work. Haven’t tried other clients.

Seems it worked. 👍

Apr 28, 2019 14:28

Why does peepeth keep suggesting inactive people to follow? Why should I follow someone who hasn‘t posted for 6 months? This is just bad.

Apr 28, 2019 13:36

What is your way to bring more people to crypto? I personally chose the route of gifting, showing people dApps they can instantly use with the gift. Not even talking about money when convincing to try it out. So they use it and get used to it.

Twitter verification says Tweetdeck doesn’t work. How about other clients? Using only Tweetbot for Twitter, can’t be bothered to login on web.

Apr 28, 2019 10:15

Weather today sucks and I‘m running out of eth. No good combo. 😃

Peepstreak you say. 🔥

Thank you for the enso @saschlander . Now you have to wait 24 hours in order to give out another. Way better than a like for everything for that reason.

Yeah, but i miss something more common. Like a little nod to let the other person know i‘ve read or agree with their stuff without needing to type out a reply.

Apr 20, 2019 10:41

What are those? The „circle“ is like? I don‘t see any explanation (might be the way i access peepeth).

Basic stats are here: https://peepeth.com/stats The growth rate has been pretty slow. That's ok, as Peepeth is in an experimental phase. Preparing for Peepeth 2, which should kick it up a notch :)

I think the problem every social network that sits on blockchain has today is the inability to break the cryptobubble. 95 percent of content is crypto related or promotion for other blockchain services. There is not much „social“ in those networks.

Apr 20, 2019 06:45

Tell me, is cryptokitties still a thing? I passed on it when it was on its peak, but i pretty much like it now. 😺

How long do you spend on your phone per day? Going to cut back to 1 hour and see what happens.

About 6 - 8 hours a day, but to be fair, most of it is part of my job. 🙃

Welcome to #peepeth! Yes, I'm using Opera on Android. Great progress with their dApp browser and wallet so far. I've switched all my mobile and desktop browsers to Opera as a result. 🐧🌐

They really did a great job. I used dApps before (2017/2018) but that is a different world now. So smooth, especially the onboarding.

Apr 18, 2019 08:17

I am trying that Opera Touch beta for iOS with crypto integration. Such a smooth experience already, that really could get dApps to the masses. Anybody else using opera for dApps?

Apr 17, 2019 21:34
