I have worked the consultancy racket at some #banks in my lifetime. One of my favourite stories was when nobody at a certain global bank could answer my question: how many employees do you employ in total? They literally didn't know and couldn't find out. 🤡🤡🤡🐧
That's probably because they have lots of ghost-employees. :)

What do you listen to when you code? https://forum.zeppelin.solutions/t/what-do-you-listen-to-when-you-code/854
I don't listen to anything. Music is VERY distracting when my brain is at work. I need my full focus ON. :)

That's what most women generally do, so that they can have more maternity leave time after childbirth. :)

I am GRATEFUL to have SURVIVED THIS LONG to this GODDAMN IMPERSONAL, UNCARING UNIVERSE, and I NOW THRIVE!!!
A lot of people think caring makes them mentally "weak" whereas, in fact, it shows that they have principles, convictions and values.
It's almost as if they are afraid of being "taken advantage of". Meanwhile, when you care deeply, this fear completely vanishes. :)
"Belief" means working for a better future.
"Hope" means leaving it all to luck.
Don't hope, believe.

I hate going into bank branches. The person you need to talk to is busy or not there. Then they relentlessly try to sell you a bunch of crap. Then they charge you for what used to be free services. You find out later what you ask them to do was done wrong.
Exactly! I can't even stand telephone banking to be honest. Online banking rocks! :)
It seems to me that bank officers have become commercial/marketing staff. It's just a shame most tend to have REALLY poor customer service skills... -_-

If every employee is doing the same kind of chilled-out paperwork filing... I understand it for a pregnant woman, or anyone with some stress-based disability, but wtf I and many people I know would go crazy in that environment!
Never underestimate the need for people to have things "easy" and "hashed out" for them. This world thrives on paper-shuffling people (engineers, postwomen, researchers, managers, politicians, etc.); not on Entrepreneurs or Pioneers! :)
Replying to @satsearcher (0x86e9abf10d761122f3a7c375fe381dfd28bb47a0)
There's too many employees at banks too. That money could be better invested in better systems and customer experience. I know of a woman who got pregnant while working at a bank (customer facing, i.e. filling out paperwork). She stayed there well into her pregnancy because the work was so low effort and chill... positive side, it helped her financially, but negative side, what kind of work is that?
You said it! Banking processes are fairly inefficient/redundant. Ironically, banks are not willing to invest in change because it is "too costly".
Paperwork is inevitable in inflated institutions (schools, Universities, Banks, Social services...): it's the culture of "service".
Replying to @satsearcher (0x86e9abf10d761122f3a7c375fe381dfd28bb47a0)
I don't think they are malicious, but simply indifferent to people who don't hold enough money to make them the big $$$. The problem is, that viewpoint is actually irrational. Helping people have freedom with their money and good "customer experience" will prob lead to more voluntary saving, more available investment funds, more fees, etc. Big openings for disruption!
It is the lack of ethics and accountability in managing certain financial risks (by advising customers, clarifying small prints in "standard language for example) that makes banks shady. Their governance systems are mostly driven by EOFY profit, not long-term/sustainable growth.

And then the whales will dump it on their FOMO heads and we've been seeing this happening several times so far. The rich are getting richer because they can afford to wait. The poor will always try to take a shortcut out of poverty. To me, the idea of universal income is 🤘.
...It is sad that the working class and struggling masses have been told for centuries that they should trade their time for money. Nowadays, you have inflation eating their money away, everyday. Very tragic indeed...but not a fatality.

We got a good social network here on Peepeth. I love how people listen to each other, hedge what they say, and react like real people. The realest social network there is, as I see it. The question is, how do we keep it real and full of real people?
People will keep peepling anyway: you only need to maintain this peep-space, so that they can do their own peeping conveniently. This is what @bevan is relentlessly working on.
Remember, the tech is just a tool/toy for people to use/fiddle with, it's never the purpose. :)

It's so time we change our KPIs like this: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/22/world/asia/new-zealand-wellbeing-budget.html also really like the idea of Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness Index Really great small countries run these experiments. Now it is time for the bigger ones to watch and then follow!
...This is not something new per se, because Occupational Health & Safety practices have always reported on "mental health". My guess is that this "economy of the well-being" indicates a generational shift, from work/finance-minded Boomer-genX to self/people-centered genY-Z. :)

I'm seeing a similar shift in Australia already. For the past 2 years, Public services have started incorporating "well-being" metrics in their Performance management or review processes, with a focus on improved mental health outcomes...

CCN is Shutting Down after Google’s June 2019 Core Update https://www.ccn.com/ccn-is-shutting-down-after-googles-june-2019-core-update
It's unfortunate, but it seems that you won't have any REAL decentralisation until people STOP relying exclusively on Google corp.
CCN writes for a crypto/finance audience. Maybe they should consider using blockchain and deFi to stay afloat? If the tech is there already, use it!

Locked out of my bank yet again for logging in from a "suspicious location". As a result, could not buy euros at a fair rate and was charged a fresh $5 for a "foriegn withdrawal" To think that I come from one of the wealthiest per capita countries on earth, with some of the best banks, and still have to deal with this. What fresh hell do Nepali, Nigerians, and Peruvians have to deal with? Once you go crypto...
Some banks are just rock-bottom. They work really hard at sinking you, so that they can rip your skin off while pulling you out of their dark waters.
Modern banking business clearly works against young/working class/entrepreneur/GIG economy people.
