No censorship at all - that means giving equal opportunity to flat earthers and NASA for informing masses? And people should just choose for themselves who they think makes more sense?

I think so. Yeah... Wikipedia has been generally wonderful.

Only, people won't choose "for themselves" in isolation. Their parents and friends will will surely help guide them. Most people want to know the truth. Seeing a single version actually makes that less likely, not more.

Uncensored TV would have: more PBS, more channels. The ones you found objectionable could be censored at the TV or home level. Of course bandwidth isn't/wasn't unlimited - so what voices have been being broadcast now?

The most well funded... probably less than ideal, too.

"but these outlets have become too central to our society to censor" - what do you mean by that? What about TV & radio, aren't those central & censored too? Do we even want uncensored TV? Just wondering what kind of society would we have without any censorship. Loudest voice wins

Loudest voice? Nah. I think you're going to get a feel for the answer as Peepeth develops...

All media outlets have traditionally had gate-keepers. A world without them is hard to imagine. I'm sure most people would rather have them - and a free market would likely provide them.

Agreed, but how would it be altered by someone or group of technocrats "regulating" or "steering" content or "quality" etc, etc. Don't know why this is such a problematic issue for millennials who probably can't name all 5 parts of 1stA with googling it.

I just want to touch on the last point briefly - lots of the world doesn't have the "1st Amendment". This is a global issue - I agree that the internet monopolies have too much power.

Hopefully, blockchains will help with that. We need more collaboration & crypto incentivizes it

I don't trust ANYONE, no matter their intentions. Don't u get it, any great idea goes to shit once u add in the people factor. No such thing as total transparency all math and such aside, regular folk don't have time for that. the problems with soc media is agenda driven ideology

Great ideas come from people to begin with. Some people are not out for the best interest of their neighbors - and that's was normally results in the corruption of great ideas.

Our modern world is people, people all the way down - layers and layers of people and their ideas.

With the media today thriving off of contentious and sensationalist news... you'd think any activity by the supreme court regarding income taxation would be a national headline....

It's unfortunate that they are generally as - if not more - bipolar than the "traders". The reason why: sensationalism gets clicks. They work for clicks, not readers.

No. It'a criticism of Keynesian economics in general, and of Krugman's stated beliefs about economic principles in particular. As for tariffs, they're taxes. And like any other tax, expected taxes to improve the economy is a "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" fallacy.

I thought it was a little more general ... :-)

GDP, much like Crypto's "market caps" can be contorted to fit all kinds of intentions. Are they worthless metrics? Maybe not... but probably worth less than most people think.

I know there're some exploration, but I'm not sure when we get an industry solution.

I think blockchains will not lead to "an" industry solution. More likely a protocol spec that can be stored across chains (with something like eth being the trust layer / standard platform).

This way innovation never stops, but open collaboration is maintained.

Wise words indeed. Wonder if he even could have envisioned multi-national corporations and the revolving doors of governments/bankers.

In my view, your neighbors should be your family. Voluntarily.

Something has made that way less common in the modern world, and that's a shame. I think empathy/wanting to help is a natural thing - how does it erode even in a rich country?
