Glad you're further east :) Funny how deceptive directions can be. What navigation app are you using?
Here you see a screenshot from Komoot, I saw some friends using it, so I'm giving it a chance, but I also run BikeComputer Pro in paralel, and use it to save daily segments.
I yet have to find out if Komoot can do segments/sessions. ATM I'm keeping it paused over night 😅
So, the idea of me going on dry and the bike in water didn't work. Mostly because I ran out of dry land.
Let's think out of the box #acrossRomania.
What if I go in and the bike stays out as much as possible?
The water #acrossRomania reminded me of marshes in Latvia. Only, in those I entered because I wanted to.
Water to the left, I'll skip it. Water to the right, I'll skip it.
Middle looks clear!
Nope.
It's turning into swamp after 20m, just when I thought I can rush through.
As I stopped in hesitation the lady on the navigation says "go straight" #acrossRomania. Sure, let me just unpack my canoe!
They little path on the right was third time the charm #acrossRomania. Charm that quickly turned into bog.
It was a big cornfield and not in squarish shape, so I ended up going wide
5) still no sign of the path that matches the track. Even worse, the new unopened highway cut whatever path was there
6) oh, look if I continued straight I could have gone this way in the first place!
Let's play with maps: Follow the blue track #acrossRomania
1) turn left, wrong way, go back
2) go straight on... The sign says that it's a dead-end towards #5
3) This is not a way, this is a swamp!
4) and this is a cornfield, let me go around it, how big can it be...

I'm on Earn too! I like the platform so far, and have actually found some interesting projects from it. Find me here: http://bit.ly/2togCXP
I joined now as well. Thanks.

Sweet ride! I want to know more about it! What do the solar panels power? Enso to you good sir!
and from today's experience, it doesn't like when I'm going 50 kph downhill 😂
I would now go for something smaller in size and power although, I could also just fold this one in half, but then the cells will get scratched faster.

It's 2009 Trek 4300 (ser. no. WTU042C0502C) Ha, it's on the blockchain now! 😁
The panel is 28W, theoretically could power even laptop, but I have never it. For me it usually tops up phones, cyclo-computer battery and as of this trip a Bluetooth speaker. The downside is its size,
Nuclear or solar?
#acrossRomania

I managed to run away from the rain and avoid it for the most part of yesterday. At the very end of the track for the day, just a couple of kilometers away from the place I wanted to reach the rain caught up with me and I made a mistake in choosing which way to go #acrossRomania.
I love the ability of Samsung's Gear S3 watch to auto-track activities. It's been doing it for the past 2 days and the battery is at 66%. Glad to see Apple bringing the same thing to the arena now.

And just 30m from the exhibitionist couple, there was this mess. The area is rich with bees and beehives, but this here is a telephone pole, looks nothing like a flower. One of them though I'm a threat, but my bike was faster in the end. #across
Bees ate my #acrossRomania tag 🤔

Harrowing to imagine life there 100 years ago...
I know what you mean. But if one would interpret it literally, 1918 was the beginning of a great period for Romanians, they got Transylvania from disintegrated Austro-Hungarian Empire and today's Moldova and some adjoining territories. It all lasted till 1940.

Interesting juxtaposition! Is the fountain water potable as-is? How often do you pass through towns?
Oh, yeah, and many houses in villages have their own well in their courtyard or between the house and the street, but those are not the places where I'd like to freshen up and have lunch :)

It is potable, I stocked up on it there :)
And as for towns, there's a village every 10km or so, most of them have a little shop where you could buy supplies, but that's not it for me :) Today I'll be arriving to a proper city/town called Deva.

Listening on Spotify now but I hate the poor quality of streamed music. Hoping I can buy a hi-res download soon.
I got reminded today that online radio Paradise offers losless streaming to their Android and iOS apps, and website support for it is on its way. The radio it's rather eclectic (which I like), and has some nice features once you invest some time to rate the songs you like.
And only once before have I seen this type of sheltered spring. There are 2 chalices next to it used for scooping water from the well. The spring is covered with a wooden door that protects it from the elements, although the surplus of water is flowing away anyway.
#acrossRomania
I was used to find water fountains and clean streams #acrossRomania, but for the last 2 days and 150 km this was the first one, almost hidden. Next to it there's most likely a grave with XC (could be HC in Cyrillic) and what looks like a WW1 medal.

And just 30m from the exhibitionist couple, there was this mess. The area is rich with bees and beehives, but this here is a telephone pole, looks nothing like a flower. One of them though I'm a threat, but my bike was faster in the end.
#across
That song where Discovery channel is mentioned.
These two decided to copulate on my saddle bags. Gently blowing AT them did not distract them at all. So, I waited. I always liked flies, but after 15 minutes of waiting for the gentleman on top to wrap it up,it's a whole new level.

I saw Bear Grylls milking a dromedary the other day. He was walking across Kenya and he was thirsty.
Coincidentally, I cycled 100 km #acrossRomania today, and I too was thirsty, so I decided I'll milk a camel...camel bag. I milked it twice. Take that Mr. Grylls!
Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow. Be one of them. Blend in.
#acrossRomania
Country roads, take me home...or just away from the village dogs #acrossRomania.
I usually advise to dismount if it's a one dog. It stops barking as soon as it sees your legs. For more dogs a better approach is to spray them with water from your water bottle. It confuses them.

Beautiful! I used to have those red Ortliebs too. Will you be on dirt roads mostly?
I'm very happy with them :) Had earlier models of Polish Crosso, but they were ages behind Ortlieb design-wise. I think they improved in the meantime.
The track is a mixture of paved and unpaved. And it's rather unpredictable.

Too much screen time I guess.
Luckily, that's usually the easiest to combat :) A moved my screen a bit further away from me and lowered the brightness a lot and it helped.
Rainy day ahead of me, so let's start early and put some mileage under my wheels. Took me almost an hour to pack and dry the tent.
Thanks @zeroket :)

Our wallet requires a hardware key (no software key support), so if your seed is compatible with the Ledger Nano (or soon TREZOR) key, then you can set up a hardware key to control your existing public address(es).
Good news from @ledger, choosing the derivation path will be possible in their new app scheduled to be released on July 9th.

@Bevan, the timeline of the replies to the original peep is strange. Timewise, donations appear in descending and regular replies in ascending order.

Love these pictures thanks for taking us along with you through these pictures ....are these pictures direct from mobile?
The pleasure is all mine :)
I tweak photos a bit in Snapseed, to reflect how I see it with my own eyes :)
After cycling #acrossRomania for 70km I decided I'll pitch up my tent across from an 800-year old Șoimoș fortress. It used to guard Mureș river valley back in the day. Looking forward to the morning view of it 🤗 Last year I visited the fortress and the view from it is amazing.
Some of the highlights were an abandoned Gothic church in the middle of a village (I wonder if one could buy it from the church and adapt for the living?) and a century of houses with bold facades such as this one. /3
There was sun coming through the clouds and the rain gave up. /2
Leaving fields of wheat behind, in Timiș county, the road takes me alongside...
*drum roll*
fields of wheat in Arad county.
You'd say everything is the same #acrossRomania, but... /1

My eyes are getting worse :'(
Too much screen time or something else?
Luckily, most traffic ended up taking the highway so I could continue #acrossRomania and have my first baptism by rain 😅
Thanks @d2r2!
Leaving Timișoara was a bit of every cyclist's nightmare, narrow road with heavy truck traffic and steep "shoulder", remained after they kept layering new asphalt on top of the old one. Once you slide off the road you cannot get immediately back up on the road #acrossRomania.
And off we go. I'm still amazed that this forest can be found at only a couple of kilometers away from the city center. @albertc this is the steed, name's Tutku :)

I'm waiting to hear back from Ledger on possibility and how-to of changing the default derivation path used on Nano S. Thanks.

I plan to start in some 6h or so.
Lord Vader would have to give Slash back the top hat :)
Bike is ready for #acrossRomania. Now, let's see if I should bring this one. It's been years since I've traveled with it.

I'd actually rather see an Enso badge instead of a peepstreak badge. I.e badge the icon if user has given Enso each of the last 3 days.
I'd second this.

Thanks Mario! This is on the list. Anyone have suggestions for a clever Ensō timer / indicator? Would also be nice to encourage Ensō use.
For the start perhaps a similar solutions to the existing one for the streaks, little tooltip that will say in how many hours we'll be able to give one away.
Also, on https://peepeth.com/leaders Info pop-up on Peepstreaks cannot be dismissed when clicking on Got it button.
I'd like to see Ensō feature improved. A timer until the next one is available or even better, a queue that would memorize peeps we wanted to give Ensō to and give it automatically once the timer allows it. @bevan also, perhaps username auto-complete :)

Any recommendations on how to continue after the first few tutorials? Frameworks I should get to know? Easiest way to making the connection to Ethereum and DApp-related development? Would love to hear some opinions from my fellow peepers :)
I can just give you a moral support as I'm in an elliptical orbit with Python, starting learning it several times now and then pausing it, then learning more than the last time, then pausing it again. I'm looking forward to working on some real-life applications at some point.
Oppo ditches the notch and introduces a pop-up camera in their latest flagship Find X.
Now that's what I call a good solution to a problem. I don't mind the notch...I mind the front facing camera :))

Ooh, looking forward to that review. Coolwallet S looks neat.
Reminds me of the https://www.fuzecard.com...but than again, everything that's credit-card form factor does look the same :D
