The sheer number of fortified churches #acrossRomania can be seen on this map. 7 of them are on the UNESCO's heritage list.
As all the empires ultimately fell apart (the last one controlling Transylvania was Austro-Hungarian empire), Germans and Hungarians found themselves encircled in the middle of #acrossRomania, where many of them still live.Germans outside Ger were often forced to leave after WW2.
All the fortified churches #acrossRomania were built by Saxons, who initially came to Transylvania to defend the borders of the Holy Roman Empire (German empire back in the day) from that's from East in 13th century and they kept coming throughout later centuries as well.
If we fast forward #acrossRomania from the previous woodenchurch in Hunedoara county, to town of Sebeș in Alba county (both of them in Transylvania), we start seeing more Protestant churches (of which fortified churches are local specialty). This is the Protestant graveyard.

IMO twitter has had so many man hours and so much money poured into the UI, that it's been perfected, and is easy to use. However, if peepeth had that special touch, that might also affect how new people view peepeth as a whole, not as a twitter ripoff, but something new and cool
I think carousel would be even more intuitive, and a reply to a reply, not to the original peep, could be nested. Reddit is nested like that. And if you swipe or clock next you move onto the next peep. As it is now, reading gets interrupted by other random pps. @bevan

Hey @bevan, is a dark theme on your roadmap :) ?
If like to see this one too @bevan! :)
Also, lots of time to think about stuff while cycling, I though about how peeps are organized. It's following what we're already familiar with. What if it would be in a form of a carousel? One peep and underneath listed all replies.
It's great to see from carpentry point of view, how they brought the side planks/walls together #acrossRomania.
The graveyard around the little church is rather new. It's dominated by a family tombstone, that's the size of a small house #acrossRomania, much like the ones found in Cemitério dos Prazeres (Pleasures Cemetery) in Lisbon.
And, weirdly as it sounds, I like old graveyards.
This is engraved above the entrance. To the best of my knowledge, this is the Romanian Cyrillic alphabet that was used #acrossRomania before 1860s. Later they transitioned to Latin alphabet. The entrance is lowered, so you have to bow, symbolically bowing in front of god as well.
Yesterday's window was a fragment #acrossRomania from a little wooden church of St. Dimitri, built in 1663. Couldn't peek inside but what little I could see through the window. It was off my track, but when I saw a sign that there is one, couldn't resist.
One of the clear signs that the food in some place is really good is either a lot of trucks parked outside or, if in a city, the place looks shabby, the clientele is a mixture of soup kitchen regulars and those luckier that are not. I'll spare you of the food pics 😂
Luckily, I figured out there's the emergency mode override in the per menu, so I could switch it off and I got the keyboard access on. Otherwise, the next stop would be Clearcache-town 😅
As I got my beauty sleep, I'll pack up and go into the city of Sibiu now for electric rech.
I slept for solid 10h. A poor scared dog whom I fed last night set the bicycle alarm off. Then my Samsung decided it wants my password after hours of inactivity, as usual, but, as I switched on so called emergency battery saving mode, it wouldn't show me the keyboard.

We all have wisdom or habits that have greatly improved our lives, but that we don't share (except perhaps to those closest to us) out of politeness and because such gems often fall on deaf ears. Waking up early, banal though it sounds, has much improved my life. How about you?
I dream of it, unfortunately, I love working and being up at night too.
More photos tomorrow, now just one small detail of what I visited #acrossRomania.
I'm also calling it a day earlier than usual, I need some more sleep. See you tomorrow 🤗
I'm running very low on all batteries #acrossRomania. Tomorrow will ride to Sibiu and merge breakfast and brunch in order to recharge the devices :D And because of what's behind the end of this road here, a decided to make a little detour.

I hear that! Soo many things we've created and set no limits on but battery? Oh you're gonna pay for that one, haha.
In previous trips every time we'd visit a new city in Germany, I'd end up in Burger King or McDonald's, free electricity, nobody's bothering you and a happy me(al) 😅

I tested Trust, Cipher, Toshi and Status. The main problem with Cipher is nonce definition when doing a transaction (a lot of failed transactions because of this). Trust works great, has a great UI + ERC721 listing. Status works great too but lacks some features.
Thanks :)

I use Trust as my main dApp browser on mobile. @vikmeup is very generous with his time.
It's my default one as well 🤗

Limited by bandwidth too
Well, I'm ok with bandwidth. Romania is notoriously famous for its cheap high-speed internet.
For 9 EUR you get 1 Gbps via fiber optic.
https://www.digiromania.ro/servicii/internet/internet-fix/fiberlink-1000
And on mobile, unlimited data for 4 EUR.

Red Red and Red
Add to it red and white raincoat, red cycling jerseys and red gloves...they probably think I'm a Polish guy lost in Romania.
"See, not all of us are viscously after the cyclists #acrossRomania. At least not when you hop off the bike. Now, is that a sausage-phone?"

So nice to have so many devs around 🤗
Thanks @abcoathup as well. I'll stick with the first two then.
Paradox of the 21st century. Unlimited data, limited battery life.
🤦♂️
So far I've come across blackberries, raspberries, apricots, apples and pictured below red plums #acrossRomania.
Catering sponsored by mother nature.

Anyone using Cipher instead of Toshi or Trust? How does it compare?

Yes, it was a bug that through neglect and the passage of time has turned into a feature :) @BrunchTime
Then there should be a tag line "Come to Peepeth, here you can always have one follower more than on Twitter!" 😅

It's an Id/Superego thing i think
It was Ego's idea, but then Superego told Ego that it should undone, and Superego also promised Id sugar, so Id is backing that idea up and Ego had to let it go.
Ooh, sugar! 🤤
Id, are you on the phone again? 😮
He can get on the phone AND sugar, and I get nothing!🤴

There's another bug on both Trust and Toshi, when tapping on Attach photo, then choosing local storage, but going back without actually finishing the selection of a photo, attach photo button stops working. Reload doesn't help. You have to kill the apps. I'll report it now.
Actually, @Bevan, could this above be something that you might be able to fix?
@Bevan, is it normal that I can actually start following myself? I just did it and the action went through 😅

ah i see! thanks for shedding some light. i had tested it myself and had no issues. now that there is more than one instance i would agree that it is a browser issue, then.

as if your bike journey wasn't inspirational enough! it's really cool that you're so comfortable in nature and on the land. :)
I should say that I work on it even today :) As with everything else in life, every new night spent "under the stars" increases the comfort zone. E.g. for every new trip I pack a bit differently than the last time. At some point you'll find that perfect combo :)

That's great. Is it ever hard to find a spot? Are you every worried about people bothering you?
It's not, for the most of Europe. I actually think that most one-night campers go unnoticed #acrossRomania. In DE it's not allowed to pitch up a tent unless on a camping ground, so I was always going deeper into the forest, but elsewhere I don't really care.I'm by the road tonight

perhaps shorter swipes, nearer to the bottom of your screen. :) this sounds more like a user/phone issue than trust, as a lot of apps do have a swipe-to-refresh feature and i've never really had a problem other than swiping too high/holding down too long.
Actually, today I complained about the accidental reload too :)
Trust is still using Android browser libraries and that reload gesture is a browser gesture. @koba welcome :) When you notice that you cannot scroll, just zoom in and then the scroll will become available once again.

It works well on mobile (dApp browsers) and you can peep for free (eventually). https://peepeth.com/help/signing
In my modest experience it works better for me on desktops. Both Yoshi and Trust sometimes fail to open photo attach dialogue (luckily, not at the same time), & quite often scrolling becomes disabled, as pulling down triggers refresh, so I use workaround to zoom in & then scroll.

Beautiful spot! By the looks of that river, the area has indeed had a lot of rain recently.
Indeed it did, @cyan told me yesterday about landslides caused by heavy rainfall in some other areas, but I had luck not to be bit by any bigger storms so far. Only, it's getting colder. Last night it was 10°C (50°F) and the daily will be around 20°C (68°F). Plus colder winds :)
I think I'm being followed 🙄

Loving your updates! Makes me want to plan a trip of my own. By the way; where have you been staying at night? Are there campsites, or are you rough camping?
Wild camping. Gives me freedom to cycle as late in the evening as I want to and an opportunity to choose what I see in the morning 🙂

I haven't tried that one. I've had good luck with maps.me, which uses open source maps and works offline (although not sure if it saves daily segments).
Btw, I love the fact that you can contribute to OSM from Maps.me

Wow. How long was this stretch? When on two wheels, mud is my arch nemesis. Glad you're through.
They were short, 20m, but frequent and after each I had to scrape off the mud in order to move further 😅

Hello Mario, I am not sure if you are aware that an ICO was recently held for a bee farm in Timisoara Romania. Investors got to adopt bee families and will get honey mailed to them. https://twitter.com/APIS_Token

love the details of the picture and the bokeh #lkie
Thanks. I still get surprised with bokeh on this phone (S7 Edge).
See you tomorrow folks, somewhere else #acrossRomania

And unaware of all the struggle in the mud #acrossRomania were these fellas, a bee, a bumblebee and an ant, all working the same flower.
And unbelievably, this little ladybug survived and reached the other side with me. I took the photo before I started going into the water and was surprised to see the little guy still roaming the bike after all the mud and water 😄
The plan worked, kinda.
At least my shoes were clean.
But the bike had kilos of mud all over itself. The tires would lift it up, the fenders and the frame would scrape it off, then the mud falls into the brakes, panniers, chain, derailer.

Cool that it can power a laptop. I had a similar looking panel ~12 years ago (also for a bike trip) but almost never used it. Can you use it while riding?
Yeah, it can be used while riding, I just have to strap it with an elastic cord and tuck in cable and whatever I'm charging either in a bag underneath or wedge it between two bags. It's quite heavy, I'd say around 1.5kg /3 lb.
