Hey all! The Kickstarter is now live. Would be grateful for your support. Thanks for everyone's help in getting this far! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1414168019/peepeth-social-network-for-a-better-world
Great!, backed!
@Bevan, @CallMeGwei, Mokens are a general purpose NFT and cryptocollectible that are meant to be used within and across crypto projects. Info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Mokens/ The first Dapp to use Mokens is here: https://mokens.io
@Bevan, @CallMeGwei, @abcoathup, I keep thinking about how Mokens could benefit Peepeth by integrating with it in some way. Do you think there might be a way?
I backed Peepeths kickstarter! http://kck.st/2N7Xh5a @peepethApp
The New Era Proposal that proposes that Mokens are free to mint (except gas cost) for the next era is here: https://github.com/Mokens/MIPs/issues/4
What would make you want to mint mokens and get other people to mint mokens that we could setup by October 1? #mokens @abcoathup, @Seth, @stuart and everyone, what do you thing? Check out my other recent peeps about it.
One idea is to say that each user can only mint one moken for every 20 molders (moken holders). This will give an incentive for people to get other people to mint mokens so that they can mint more mokens. But looking for ideas that are more fun than this.
The New Era Proposal I am making proposes that the next era of Mokens be free to mint. But I want to add to the proposal something fun and gives an incentive for new users to mint mokens. Looking for good ideas. Got any good ideas to share? #mokens

I think the proposal as written is reasonable. Making them free to mint until you have some usage seems sensible to me!
I am glad to know. Thanks Seth!

As you need lots of molders then a molder era could work well.
Yes! Thank you for this suggestion. I chose "Molder" for the era name. I updated the New Era Proposal: https://github.com/Mokens/MIPs/issues/4

ooh, I like the idea of a "molder" era. I'm going to add these to add these to the list.

Phases: Nomination with top nominees getting short listed for voting. Top vote gets implemented. No vote, current era continues. Initially voting based on mokens held sounds good, though as you said has potential for centralised control.
Yes, I agree.
@Seth @abcoathup I just published the first New Era Proposal here: https://github.com/Mokens/MIPs/issues/4 What do you think?

Hi Nick, regarding the naming of the next moken era, I'd like to place a bid for "cambrian". The cambrian explosion is thought to be a period of rapid increase in biodiversity ~500mya due to animals entering the scene.
I am working on a new era proposal. I'm not sure what the name of the era should be. I am including cambrian as one of the possibilities. Have you considered making a New Era Proposal?

@abcoathup I wrote down the process for creating and starting a new era for mokens. It is how the mokens community decides what the next era is, including any mint price and mint price increase. See here: https://github.com/Mokens/MIPs/blob/master/MIPS/mip-3-New-Era-Proposals.md
@abcoathup, I am really interested in your feedback and ideas about this.

I would mint more mokens but am put off by the pricing. Why use mokens when I can mint my own ERC721 for just the transaction cost? A new era with only a small price increase would be interesting but how would the genesis minters feel? Hard done by?
I hope that there are some moken eras with a low mint price and very low mint increase or a mint increase of 0 so that there are enough low-cost mokens for the use cases that can use them.

I realized that the molders (what I call the moken holders) could vote for a mint increase of 0, making an era have a low mint price and no mint increase.

removing the image would question the model of decentralisation, that one person or a team has control of the data, rather it should be done via the contracts... where the dispute mechanism is handled
Yes, I agree with you.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
yeah you should have some dispute handling mechanism inbuilt to your contracts which can deal such issues
That is one of the great things about Ethereum. True ownership of digital assets.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
Display in your website is just the front end thing, once a moken has been created , the ownership of that moken lies with the creator, which means he can still get that listed somewhere else for a sale or do something with it
I can remove the image from the moken server though. So that the moken website and the moken api do not serve the violating image. It is true that I have no control over the mokens people make, only the moken website and moken api which serves the moken metadata.

@mokens another point that striked my head is how are you going to deal with copyright issues in the moken, if the moken is created with a image which does not belong to the person , and later the owner of the image comes and claims the copyright on that image,
I wonder how youtube and photo sharing websites handle copyright infringement complaints. I might learn from them.

Some cases when the mokens website will hide a moken are mentioned here: https://mokens.io/about/display

Yea, that is something I will need to figure out. If it can be verified that the complaining person owns the copyright then the user should replace the image and if they don't then the mokens.io website will no longer display that moken, it will be hidden.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
correct - assume you have the slabs based on which pricing increases over a period of time then i think the chance of adoption will be more, you are giving a fair option for users to grab the mokens at a lower price , just my 2 cents...
I don't know what you mean. What do you mean by "slabs"? Explain more please.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
moken id and moken era is fine, assume i want to purchase a moken at a lower price in open market as you have said, but the available ones' name does not go well with the image i plan to use after purchase , i will not be interested to do the usecase you said...
You are right. In that case it wouldn't work. The person would need to wait until the next era started or find a different token system to use.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
but i guess the name with which moken was created is not changeable right?
Yes, that is right. The moken id, the moken name and the moken era cannot be changed.
Replying to @Kumaran (0xb197d4a62de6ceb5210d37dceeff72e54b4c5509)
assume you are out of vacation or very busy with something else and you had planned to generate mokens but due to other commitments you were not able to , so when the user comes back and checks to generate his moken the pricing might be very high at that time and he might go away
It is a good example.

Then the person goes to OpenSea or Rarebits or some other exchange and buys a moken at a low price. Once the person buys a moken the person can then change the image, description and tags if he/she wants to.

I am not sure incrementing it for every moken minted is a good approach, i understand your point of scarcity, you can also think about like this where you define the era has a time period and you can create multiple time periods within that for that era with a price limit set,
Thanks for your feedback, it is helpful.

Why are you not sure it is a good approach? Anyway the mokens contract is launched on the main network and is not upgradable so it will never change. So I need to make mokens work the best way it can with the way it is.

Not able to understand where i can put mokens to use... will be good if a real case can be explained
But I plan to get Mokens integrated in various Ethereum games and system and find and get implemented other ways to use mokens in useful and valuable ways. I am very interested in ideas of possible uses of mokens. Mokens is very much cross-project.I want it to be a part of things
