That's awesome man, good for you! Where do you volunteer? I'm looking for a fulfilling place to volunteer at in my town and not sure where to start.

... Sorry for the long delay :) Since Jul '19 I have been volunteering on my local ambulance. Since I started I have become a certified EMT, and now I can help as a full provider. Really enjoy the work.

Sounds like you're doing well! Curious how you went about losing weight, I know that's no small feat.

... long time sorry. I lost it by not eating breakfast, eating a very small lunch, and a normal portion size dinner. No eating after 8pm, and that was it. Mind you I was eating fast food for lunch, a huge dinner and snacking late. Real issue was habits, that were unhealthy.

Okay I have a problem with the counting. Do we count because we should or because we have to. Is this due to the prepared food, and available foods? Exercise is also something I get but don't. I am realizing that my body shouldn't be at a desk, and shouldn't be eating this junk.

I am saddened that we, as westerners, must monitor our bodies so closely because we HAVE to. I think it is societal. I spent 8 hrs in front of a computer, 2.5 in the car, then barely have time for family and life errands.
This balance is not good for anyone, and I am feeling it.

I still eat for pleasure but I keep on top of it. Food as fuel mind process is something more when I get into heavy lifting mode. Maybe you should get into an exercise regiment where you're measuring the types of macronutrients to precisely efficiently be used in your exercise?

I do something similar today too, but I am looking for the psychological change along the way as well. I understand that fasting and meditation can go a long way in resetting body and mind. Also heard that it will change you perception of food, as nourishment only.

Sorry, I realize I shifted gears a little bit there. Diet is half of this, and mind is the other. :) Not enough characters avail in a #peep to convey everything in one go.

I do intermittent fasting. Basically I only eat between the hours of 1pm and 9 pm. That cuts it down to 2 meals a day with maybe a snack in the middle rather than 3 meals and at most 2 snacks. Some days like yesterday I go over on calories but mostly it works well for me.

I believe that my diet, along with the diet of most Americans, is pretty trashy. I do my best w/whole foods and the like, but I think I might need a cleanse.
I am thinking of a 24h, wait a week, 48h, wait another week and 72 fast(h2o/salt only) for this.
Anyone else done this?

I haven't read any of his books yet. I found him through Christopher Hitchens. Been reading Hitch for years and I have start reading some of Harris' work. His podcast is great because sometimes the conversations are bad, either his fault of the guest.

Agreed my man; different strokes for different folks. A lot of people simply can't drink alcohol or don't like the effects. Cannabis use ought not to be criminalized. I can't wait to walk into a legal store to purchase it, come October.

I live in Maryland, a state in the US that only recently legalized medical use. I have applied for a Cannabis ID card(which required all my PII data to be stored it yet another government database) and now have to go through more hoops to buy it.

What does everyone think about the policy of legal cannabis? For it? Against it? We're a month away from being able to purchase it in stores in Canada. I'm curious to see how well the system will be implemented.

I am totally for legalization. My own experience is alcohol vs cannabis. Has the same effects(kinda) but zero negative effects on the body. This is with consuming not smoking BTW.
We are only at the beginning of understanding all cannabis can do because of past restrictions.

One popular podcaster does away with ads entirely, in favor of user support: https://www.thatseemsimportant.com/content/sam-harris-content-creator-supporting-work-without-running-ads/

Yes, and he runs a full 7 minute segment at the top as to why he is listener supported, and how you can support him for the cost of a single cup of coffee each month... Avid Sam Harris fan :)
Listener supported is incredibly difficult. Ask Chris Fisher of at Jupiter Broadcasting

I'd opt for upfront ads since they're easier to fast forward past. In general though I prefer the revenue model behind basicattentiontoken.org, utilized by Brave.com. Content like music and podcasts should be ad-free, subsidized by ads viewed on other sites / different contexts.

Subsidized? I don't think there is enough revenue from one stream of advertising. Web advertising is junk compared to the podcast and music. I don't remember the last time I visited HI or JRE websites.
Are we talking about them making too much money? Because now we have a debate.

Hello Internet is a interval show, while Joe Rogan is up front. I listen to both, and find Joe's easier to fast forward, and listen to the ones on HI.

I know. I have asked @bevan roughly the same question. Moderation at this scale is straight forward, but what happens when it grows above 1-3k active users peeping all the time.

A number of you are here because of one user whose videos made Peepeth seem like an unmoderated platform. It was a simple misunderstanding on their part. Peepeth.com has always been a moderated platform. This is now shown to new users:

@bevan that does raise one particular question for me. (mind you I agree with the code of conduct as it stand, and understand contract holds all)

How are you moderating? Live review of new? Peeps being reported? Do you have the staff to handle that much administration/moderation

Replying to @conlan (0xa7f3dfed2bcf7b35a8824e11ae8f723650edfb58)

But the underlying platform is unregulated. Anyone can use the contract and write to the platform (https://peepeth.com/front_end), it's only peepeth.com that choses to display specific content that confirms with its terms.

I really like this one point in the code of conduct:
I will not spread news that I do not know to be certain and will not criticize or condemn things of which I am not sure.
Would bring FB and twitter to its knees.
Name one person you know that follows this today?

I rarely use social networks. Jumping onto #peepeth I have linked my rarely used #twitter account, and started reading some tweets and replies. Now I have a much better understanding of what #peepeth can do.

The comments and posts on #twitter are still anonymous(to an extent), free to post, easy to post, and ultimately terrible. My current opinion obviously, and only after a few minutes of reading but the amount of hate coupled with a large dose of ignorance is astounding.

He's talking about the Joe Rogan podcast. It is much harder to be completely deceptive for 3 hours of conversation with tone of voice and body language than a carefully crafted 5 paragraph article.

If you get a chance you should try a @joerogan podcast. Search his catalog for someone you might want to hear him interview. His interviews are mostly 1.5/2 hours in length. I really applaud his stance on using the long form, and open conversation.

I honestly wish his thoughts/tweets were more... more... I don't know, presidential. It's all to 'LOOK AT ME'. All. The. Time.
And the facts are usually really loose, if not pure conjecture, and it comes off as immature.

Huh, well then. Can a sitting president demand positive news coverage? Sounds like dictatorship to me... Then again Google is by far the most popular search engine with a corporation controlling it. Is it really a monopoly forcing perspective? ... More questions.

I am going with more negative coverage. The search algorithm would have to be hard coded for a Trump search to find positive news in a majority.
