The most important evil in the world I can fight with any chance of winning is that within my own heart.

It's hard to imagine how Ether won't be the dominant cryptocurrency within a couple years...even beyond Bitcoin.
There's just so much buidling on ETH.
#buidl

Just keep peeping. I lost my streak at Christmas. It was sad. 🐧🐧🐧🔥
Yeah, I could see that happening to me as well.

Pretty easy to deploy using Truffle. The minting and horse creation is horribly manual. (I need to write some scripts). The contract inherits from OpenZeppelin. The code is all in GitHub. https://github.com/blockhorses/BlockHorses
Thanks. I'm considering doing a token creation sometime... nothing crazy, just learning the basics.
I should run through Crypto Zombies first I spose
It's ridiculous that a little flame by my face is what *most* entices me to peep daily.
But here we are.

At #buidl_bali I deployed BlockHorses. It is horribly centralised (though I can give up my minter role and do something about the GitHub organisation ownership). I have been sending horses to some of the people we talked about at #buidl_bali. I’m sure I am forgetting someone.
How easy/hard was it to deploy?
I've done like one intro to C++ course and now I'm considering learning Python. Would it take a lot of programming to learn to make something like BlockHorses?

Which is why we need more transparency, imo. Opening things up lets more of the world have intelligent debates about how software works in the world... and how it ought to work... We won't ~~always~~ usually agree... but such discussions need to be global and well-informed.
I love discussion and am comfortable with disagreement.
Transparency is usually good, although sometimes too much can be detrimental. I worry about digital mobs sometimes overwhelming practical solutions that may *seem* insufficient.
ie 3 strikes law in California was BAD

If we were trying to be pragmatic, then I think we'd need to ask people what is good *for them* case-by-case. The responses would probably be varied, **but enabling freedom and expanding opportunities would be one of the common themes**... or so I imagine. Freedoms are good...
Thanks for responding!
I like freedom too; at times I do question how absolutist about it I should be.
I have tended to support freedom being the greatest political good, but I need to read more classical philosophy which has arguments that law should encourage good living.

What is it about EE spellings and crossposting? Peeps->Tweets->Steem if I use the hashtag #share2steem That's three separate platforms in one post; two are decentralized. #youcan'tstopthesignal
Apparently, you also can't use an apostrophe in a hashtag.
Hi, I'm Jeff, and I'm still learning 2014 things.

A little bit expensive but pretty good service for sure.
How much? I think I have a free one somewhere.
I'd love to see a decentralized email service that I could just run off my PC.
I guess that's kind of what Keybase is.

This question asked to Twitter's Jack is promising for Web 3.0 solutions like Peepeth integrating w/Twitter.
Great integration into centralized platforms can help more people find it as a viable alternative.
Most of you probably already follow Plasma Bears and Neon District. Here's a short article I wrote about the Neon District Founder's Key Waitlist. There's still time to signup!

Great development gains in major crypto projects is leading to:
1. More stuff to do with your tokens (Staking, gaming, etc)
2. Some cautiously optimistic price movements
Are we moving into cryptospring?

That's a really thought-provoking question Jeff. While the visions for new tech are typically good and to help better people, the world, our day to day etc. it feels important to examine/weigh the potential unintended consequences of it and how we can prevent or minimize it early
Thanks for responding!
Unintended consequences are incredibly important, I agree. That's the difficulty with software, isn't it? It can often scale faster than the implications can be understood.

What's good for "us" may not be good for everyone. The developed world stands to lose quite a bit of pull if they decentralize the gatekeeping of the world. Aside from that... my rule of thumb... what's good for humanity probably gives us all equal opportunities and freedoms.
What is good for humanity?
How do you determine what is good?

Binged on After Life on Netflix last night. I am not normally a big fan of Ricky Gervais style of comedy but I had massive tears of laughter. Just missing Shaun Pye to make it perfect. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Life_(TV_series)
I'll try to check it out next time I sub. I generally only have Netflix a fee months out of the year.
Michael McIntyre is my fave British comedian-have you heard him?

Uniswap has nothing in common with WETH
Thanks-yeah, it looks like it was a transaction bug. Thought I had just found an extra few WETH, but it wasn't the case. Weird.
Lots of talk about tech on here, which is fun.
But how do we know if the tech we create is good for us?
What moral compass do you use when developing or consuming tech?

Glad to hear it! Dapp browsers are indeed getting a lot more usable.
Yeah, my early adventures on Status were pretty gnarly. I also made the mistake of having way too secure of a password that I ended up forgetting it completely.
But thanks for mentioning mobile in the faq as it got me to find and download Trust wallet.

I rarely use a desktop outside of development. Mobile is where it is at.
I really prefer the feel of a PC, full keyboard and mouse, but *maybe* 10% of my online time is at it.
Love my phone but wonder at times if it isn't keeping me from thinking my own thoughts more deliberately.

Massive improvements in usability. Plus lots of great options: Trust, Coinbase Wallet, Status.im, now DApp Pocket, with MetaMask coming soon.
I'm using Trust.
Imported my private key from Meta Mask (this is not an ETH holding account; mostly just a couple games) and was happy to see how easy it was to get going.
Hooray! I finally got peepeth on my mobile. Mobile dapp browsers have gotten much better since 2017!
Do your Christmas shopping early-play some Plasma Bears and you can assemble unique teddy bears on the blockchain.
You can gift these silly bears to your friends and family. They're cute and it is free to play! @PlasmaBears
Anyone else planning to play the Neon District game when it comes out later this spring?
You can sign up here for an NFT, and if you share the link with your friends your odds go up on getting a better item!

And then something else will be the "new DeFi" and then anothwr thing will be the "new something else"... and then your progeny will one day be unable to imagine the old world where we chose between only centralized choices of everything and trusted it all. We'll get there.
Iteration is exciting. My only hope is that we don't expect the future to be perfect.
Decentralization will have its own problems.
Anyone familiar with Uniswap?
I unlocked a few WETH on it, but now it's showing as a zero balance when I try to access it on the website.
(I did log on to a different computer, but am using same MM key)

Yay! Replaced the bad motherboard on my PC and now I'm able to access my Peepeth account again. Better backup my Meta Mask account in case something like this happens again.

Were you doing that to pay off some of your CDP? Curious - what do you use DAI for?
Yes, was paying off a CDP. I used my DAI to buy Steem, which I turned into Steem Power (SP) that I can delegate at 25%.
DAI costs like .5% to borrow. :-O
Steemit is doing some great social media/blockchain stuff, and has a fairly large base of 60k daily users, and nearly 1 million total. Here I interview a witness about his apps and contributions. https://steemit.com/coinfund/@protegeaa/interviewwithawitness-yabapmatt-fk0a5kpg1a
Put some DAI back into my CDP today. Constantly amazed at how smoothly the whole Maker/DAI system works.

Thanks for joining Jeff. Appreciate the comments. Peepeth would not be what it is without Leeroy. All suggestions appreciated!
Thanks Bevan. I'll continue to poke around!
When your phone decides its time to drop in on a Rize call and "volunteers" your hand, things get awkward.
Let's put this in the blockchain forever.

So far, this is a much better implementation than Leeroy was on its release, although I haven't stayed current with it. Love the stacking of actions before signing.
Now I just need to figure out how to move my Kitties to this address with some level of anonymity...
