Hello, world! Is there anybody out there? How is everyone doing? Share your day so far!
Hanging in Granada, Spain working on some web3 React components. @katy next to me working on some design for a new post. HBU?

Yes, unfortunately there's not much that can be done currently, but it's something I'm working on. @nico
Are you considering using 725 for identities? The origin protocol crew has a working example, it's pretty slick.

If you lose control of your keys which control your identity then you have to create a new identity and tell the community you were formally X. For now, always be backed up with your seed phrase.
You bet. And having 725 will help because you can always regen a new key w/ your master.

I see, 1P has a service like haveIbeenpwned.com and they notified you that your Tw credentials were found in some dump. Twitter didn't leak the data, someone stole it. The solution could be registering and securing those accounts with a scan of a government issued ID.
Or ERC725 identity ;) but even then, the issue here is Twitter being unwilling to check another form of identification. The crypto world is even more unforgiving, because there is no centralized support center that can override the governance rules.

I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd have to ask them. They notified me in my 1Password app that they detected my account on Twitter in a public leaked dataset.
And to be clear, it might not even be Twitter's fault. Someone else may have compromised me due to something I did. Twitter locked the account to try and protect me, so the right intention is in place... just not the best customer facing solution.

How does 1P know that it was Twitter who leaked it?

@bevan very curious on your thoughts here. What would you do if someone said they lost their MM seed phrase? What does the community expect?

Twitter accidentally leaked my account data (according to 1Password), and with no warning locked my account.
Replying to @nico (0x99b9bb23d300dda4a1dc9eb8d2333704b235c165)
I had an old email associated with the account, and no longer have access (I know, my fault). Twitter responded saying they were sorry but will not try to help me verify in any other way. They asked that I do not reply to the email.
Obviously my fault on a stale email address. Obviously poor customer service from Twitter. What's the lesson though? I could have just as easily lost my private keys. Does a decentralized system still require the concept of "customer service"?

.@ETHBerlin was a blast! A big shoutout to the winners of our DutchX bounty: "Pool X" wrote a smart contract to pool initial liquidity for the first auction to list a new token to the DutchX protocol. They also built a @telegram bot for users to take part in the pool! Congrats!🎉
Cool!

Awesome pic @nico What is this place? My first thought was that it's a cemetery but I didn't see any markers on the blocks. Still... It looks like a great place to contemplate life.
This is the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. I think it was designed to be very abstract, for the visitor to interpret the meaning. The cemetery feeling is definitely present.
Learning about blockchain secured IoT from @lorepieri at @anyledgerio for @BerBlockWeek. One takeaway: IoT devices *must* have their own private keys.
Made it to #berlin with @katy for @BerBlockWeek - spending the compulsory time to reflect on this location's history. Thinking about the power and responsibility of decentralization.

Why did it get removed?
Not sure. I saw some speculation that it was perhaps caught in a larger (likely automated) ban of crypto mining extensions (likely accidentally).
MetaMask removed from Chrome Webstore. In the meantime, you can download and build here: https://github.com/MetaMask/metamask-extension/releases
Today's Wonder: how would you approach decentralizing a physical infrastructure like phone communication systems?

Once browsers have a way to resolve IPFS hashes directly, we can create fully decentralized apps. We will sit in between web2 and web3 tech for a while. That's just the reality, given how large of an infrastructural transition this is.
That's actually one of the community aspects that I enjoy the most. There are tons of improvements that need to be made across UX, scalability, and performance. Everyone can contribute something.

Why are these apps called "decentralized apps". Since the front ends are proprietary and centralized, would a more precise term be "apps using decentralized data store?"

actually, how about someone with a following holds the eth address, someone who is regarded as trustworthy. @abcoathup , you down?
Great idea. Plenty of democratic voting smart contracts, why not use one to host the voting/issuance of reward? I can help deploy something in a few weeks after my current project if you'd like. It would be nice to send some of the proceeds to fund an OS project on @gitcoin.

I'm finding myself wanting to tip over enso. $1 feels heavier the more people join with great content. Maybe a micro tip? I'd probably pay $10-20/mo on social content without ads. Might be worth some market research to validate others.

If you're confused why "blockchain" or "distributed *things*" are important, or what they do, don't feel stupid. Just ask someone who cares, they will be happy to explain it. You'll feel great when you're that someone later on.
I often wonder how much faster we could advance technology if more people felt this way. Sometimes I catch myself feeling the need to act like I understand something when I don't -- it's probably one of the largest missed opportunities that exists.
