Interesting cognitive bias related to personal growth: the end of history illusion. We recognize that we've changed a lot in the past, but view ourselves as complete in the present, vastly underestimating how much we'll change in the future. 6-min TED talk by Daniel Gilbert on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNbaR54Gpj4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-of-history_illusion
Leaving with some space to think about.
A bit similar topics explored in behavioral economics (by Dan Ariely for example). Like bias towards present state over future, and underestimating potential change.

Thanks for sharing. Tristan was on Tim Ferris this week too: https://tim.blog/2019/09/19/tristan-harris/ Haven't listened to it yet. Here's his TED talk: https://youtu.be/C74amJRp730
Yeah, just found out about him from Tim's podcast, though Tristan was talking about issues with social media, AI and users attention online since 2013... Not surprisingly, his youtube videos are not very popular.

Augur, as far as I know, is more a prediction market tool than a system to gurantee veridicity of written text on the internet. I don't get how it could help.

Augur became "a system to gurantee veridicity of written text on the internet" (oracle) when there is expired and resolved market related to written text.

Yes, it's not direct verification, but I think another the idea, besides betting on events future outcomes, is to make it expensive to be wrong by spreading fake news. When there are speculation efforts by A pushing towards some outcome X against B, B can hedge it's own risks.
