When we signed up for Peepeth didn't I see something about this website being centralized and censorable but that as long as a node is up we can restore the data? I should have screen shotted it but it didn't cross my mind.
The frontend (Peepeths website) is running on a server and thus centralised. But the backend (Ethereum blockchain, smart contract, IPFS...) is all decentralised. So FOR NOW, as you can only access it through the Peepeth website it would be possible to censor stuff.

Thanks! Really helped. So its called more secure, more scalable, and more free system. This may very basic knowledge... but I had got confused at the very first place. Now I really can say this sounds fantastic.
Glad to help! :)

Thank you! We're at a great place! So... on IPFS there're many nodes all around the world, instead of central servers. And each of them keeping data. Is this right?
Exactly, this way the data is decentralised and available as long as at least one node hodls the requested data.

Sounds like an issue. Add it to the feedback (bottom right on mobile) so that it is on the to do list.
Done, thanks for the reminder!

Oh... my computer is a node when I'm connecting to IPFS?? Sorry for many questions.
As @abcoathup said, you have to run software to belong to the IPFS network.
No problem, keep asking, we are all here to learn from each other.

What do you guys use to browse Peepeth on iOS? Cipher?
I user Cipher, but make your own opinion by testing them. Be careful though!
Replying to @Shigako (0x1e524685f67e065165fe7f179e97433ec07b0fc4)
Wow. Does "node" means each machine connected to the system? Or each place on the file system?
A node is simply a server in the network.

Thanks! Why didn't you claim @jack as your username?
I always use this handle, it has better chances to be available. @jack was available but I decided to be consistent.

A post on Mastodon is a toot, so what do we call a post on Peepeth?
A peep.

So there is no server, but whole file system is something like a database?
There are multiple servers/nodes. You, I and everyone here can run a node and make files available to anyone. In addition, all files will be distributed to multiple nodes to be available even if a node is down.
Replying to @Shigako (0x1e524685f67e065165fe7f179e97433ec07b0fc4)
Peepeth says "Saving to IPFS" or something like that, everytime I post a peep. IPFS is a total enigma for me but this name "InterPlanetary File System" sounds really fantastic.
Imagine a big database/file system which is distributed all over the world.
@james Thanks for the Ensō! And thank you for having created Leeroy to make Peepeth possible.

.@bevan Since the account URLs are simply "peepeth.com/handle", what will happen once somebody registers @stats, @how or @about since these pages already link to other resources? (Ex. "peepeth.com/about" already links to a resource but should then link to the user.)
@abcoathup @callmegwei @isaacsu In a way or another this has to be addressed, since either the resources or the profile pages won't be reachable as long as it has not been fixed. @bevan

Hahaha this will create a bug in the matrix and crash the whole blockchain universe.

These computers are running an optical trap. We can use it to catch single protein molecules and rub them against which tells us how they interact under force. Here's a nice summary of our last paper: http://medicalphysicsweb.org/cws/article/research/70207
Wow! Looks interesting, will have a look in the next days as soon as I have some free time.

#ThousandthPeep #First I am a peep believer since I used peepeth briefly on a testnet. I am a mobile peeper as that is where I believe is peepeths natural home. I’ve interacted directly with the smart contract, as any client can do. There is no delete. Just keep peeping.
Congrats! If my Ensō would be available it would be yours.

I really hope Peepeth gets lambo.
