It's been a long day. Lots of ups and downs. Lots of (free) personality reports generated. Lots of tweaks made and bugs patched. There's still a lot to do. Grateful for everyone who tested it before launch, which helped me avoid a lot of pitfalls. Time for a nap.

Keep rippin bevan!!

Words change your world. An easy way to make a difference with your relationship to your emotions is to separate yourself from the emotion. For example "I'm mad" replace with "there's anger in me." "I'm anxious" with "I feel some anxiety." Separate yourself from the emotion.

Have you read his book, Principles? Haven't given it as much attention as I'd like yet. Will pick it back up.

Sorry for the delay. I haven't yet. I've heard him on a bunch of podcasts (does a great interview with Tim Ferris). He actually has an app called Principles and that has the full book on it for free!! (just another reason why he's awesome).

Remember - the things that help us numb and avoid our negative feelings, also prevent us from enjoying and experiencing positive feelings. We can't numb selectively. We learn to accept it all.

Yes!!! His dedication to helping people understand the economy and finance is amazing.

It's now been over 10 years of strong economic expansion. According to Ray Dalio it's time for a paradigm shift. As we look at heavy market corrections, is that shift upon us and (I'm sure we're all eager to know) will it include cryptocurrency?

A little-known effect of therapy: "The analysis has found that just a few weeks of therapy is associated with significant and long-lasting changes in clients’ personalities, especially reductions in the trait of Neuroticism and increases in Extraversion." https://digest.bps.org.uk/2017/01/19/a-little-discussed-effect-of-therapy-it-changes-your-personality/

I love this! I like that they address how it can sound worrisome to change your personality (which was my initial thought reading), as it sounds like you're losing a part of yourself, but really you're strengthening yourself. Thanks for sharing!!! @Bevan

Want to get better at a sport? Work with a coach
Want help getting physically fit? Work with a trainer
Want help getting physically better when sick? Go to the doctor
But wanting to get mentally fit and/or better and seeing a therapist has a stigma to it?! Fuck that.#endthestigma

How do you choose to suffer? This is true freedom. It may sound backwards, but freedom is not the ability to do or have more things, that's variety. True freedom comes from having the ability to choose your suffering. And no one can take away the meaning you associate with it

“The one thing you can’t take away from me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me. The last of one’s freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.”

Jul 24, 2019 04:05

A person's search for meaning in life doesn't come from the avoidance of suffering, but rather the ability to find meaning in suffering

Jul 24, 2019 03:59

"If there is meaning in life at all, then there must be meaning in suffering.” - Viktor Frankl. If you ever want a great read about understanding love, suffering, and the meaning we create behind it all, read "Man's search for meaning." Simply incredible

With the crypto market returning please remember to be careful out there. HIGHLY recommend if you're hodling to get an offline wallet like Trezor or Ledger. When the market boomed last year I was locked out of some accounts online due to the website's massive traffic. It sucked

Consciousness. Its what distinguishes us from any other life on earth. Its our gift and our curse. Our ability to understand the uncomfortable truth of our mortality, but also the ability to interpret meaning in all things.

...we all want to be better. We all have dreams, wants, desires, ambitions. We all want to be the hero in our own movie that is our life. But to achieve any of this requires work. And it all starts with the mind.

Apr 03, 2019 12:53

...how to drown out the hundreds of voices of uncertainty and listen to the one lone voice that says "watch me"...

Apr 03, 2019 12:53

...but it doesn't need to be that way. I love to think about what people could do + accomplish if they just knew how to look anxiety + worry in the eye and say "fuck you, I'm doing it anyway."...

Apr 03, 2019 12:52

Sometimes the mind can feel like our enemy. Instead of working for us, it works against us. It cripples us, tells us what to fear, tells us we’re no good, what we can't do. It's the place of the greatest conflict, out to worry us to death, out to break us down...

we don't get time or we don't give ourselves the time? 🤔
