Very true. I think we could tweak the current market-based approach so that it is: 1) an ongoing negotiation process per project; and 2) proportional to the market value of the product or service, not wage-based
The question now is: Can you evaluate the "market value of a product/service" in absolute?
I think market value is only relative because it depends on external factors. But the SKILLS that you have as a producer/worker, they are invaluable because they define your identity. :)

Here's a great talk about UBI - Andrew Yang on Joe Rogan's podcast recently. I think it's going to be needed sooner rather than later, but there will be a period of social adjustment. Self-motivation will really need to be emphasized https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTsEzmFamZ8
Thanks! I will be listening to this this pm. :)

I like the idea of voluntary UBI for your social community/tribe, with an optional worldwide UBI you can contribute to (but don't have to). Just make it easy to give to the likes of Ethiopia/Nigeria/Nepal/India. Then - even if it takes time - I think quality of life will rise
Very true! Anything worthy takes times...and lots of mistakes + lessons learnt. :)

Wow... I had no idea that was a thing--I'm so ignorant. Could you elaborate on this #escrow system? I am intrigued.
... This traditional system works fine when Person X and the recipients are based in the same country. But breaks very quickly when new generations who have immigrated abroad are involved. You wait months for the money to reach you (if ever) and you lose $$$ in transfer fees. :(

All children from the same father/mother/grandparents pool their money once/twice a year in the hand of a person X. They decide who among themselves will get said money. Person X sends the money to the recipient. This is done with nothing but pens+ notebooks for accounting....

Yeah. Perhaps adding some type of consequence e.g. being disqualified if you're contributing less than you take for an extended period. Or roll out the UBI model in very small groups rather than universally - i.e. you only contribute or take from those you know.
There are already active forms of UBI in small communities, fraternities, clubs and even within families. I don't think this is a model that can be extended beyond small like-minded groups with strongly correlated private interests. :)

Yeah, no. That didn‘t work out the last 10 years, that will not work out the next 10 years. I think most people in crypto think from the wrong side. In Germany we call it „betriebsblind“. Think outside your bubble and think outside of your own knowledge.
...Not to mention having to trust that whoever gets the money on your behalf will pass it on to you without cutting his/her share; hereby jeopardising your plans/projects.
People who don't need the tech don't know how valuable it is. People outside the tech bubble DO value it.:)

Coming from a 3rd world perspective, I can tell you that there is A LOT to be gained in using cryptos. We have these escrow systems that we run among extended family members scattered in a diaspora across the globe. But no banks, no accounting and a sh!tty remittance system...

So, what reason would anybody have to join peepeth as a normal social network? There are plenty of unused networks. What‘s the difference with peepeth when blockchain isn‘t user faced?
It depends on the type of service they need.
Some people visit Peepeth every 2 months, others are here every 10 days, few peep every day...and this setup changes over time for the same individual.
A platform isn't always after becoming the "norm", it's often about servicing.

"How do you think we could we better measure the quality of workplace contributions?"
The worker knows how much s/he contributes to the workplace and the owner knows how much work s/he needs to have done. Both parties should negotiate the wages/workloads based on their needs.

[Cont] as I reckon that'd stop the rich from being unfairly taxed. I reckon we'll avoid abuse of the system as long as we keep 2 elements: - Rich people retain a significantly better quality of life than poor people - Freeloaders get enough to survive but not enough to be happy
That's a very throrough post. Thank you.
It is true that anything that incentivises survival is de facto invigorating for any living organism.
The concept of "free" does not really exist because there are always some (hidden/implicit/long-term) costs attached to a transaction.

3) Wealth is not meritocratic, it is the result of generations of violence and exploitation. Wells are owned by the people with the bigger stick, not the people that dug them. UBIs benefit entrepreneurs and people in between jobs, which is good but won’t prevent mass depopulation

So you reward them directly or through some system that manages the tips?
Tipping sends BAT to the publisher's account with Uphold (a crypto exchange: https://uphold.com/).
Afterwards, said publisher can withdraw BAT into their own wallet, or convert the coins into other cryptos, or convert their BAT into fiat.
The choice is theirs! :)
