Hi Peeps, I am shifting all my apps to blockchain based projects and Peepeth is the first I am working on...next up is a move from youtube to dtube...any other suggestions...great to see the ecosystem coming alive bit by bit...
Then there's IPFS https://ipfs.io/. It's not blockchain but it is decentralized (unless I'm mistaken.)
Mistaken. What a cool word. It has so many elements.

If you are afraid of bears don't go to the woods...
And if you are afraid of the woods, don't go camping.
And if you are afraid of camping, don't buy a tent.
And if you are afraid of tents, don't go shopping.
And if you are afraid of shopping, don't find yourself in need.
And if you are afraid of being in need, hoard.

Hi peepers, as my first peep I share with all of you a sight of Mandango hill, placed at the south of my country, Ecuador, in a small town named Vilcambamba, or also known as "Valley of Longevity". Have a nice day and blessings
I want to go. I want to go now. I've learned to control my impulses, so I won't go now, but I want to. Thanks for sharing, and see you in a couple years.

There is something about poetry, recited in rhythm that is appealing. That has always been my goal as a lyricist. Enjoy this; https://soundcloud.com/lux4light/lux-shook-1s
Nice. I have only listened once, but noticed that I enjoy it more when I don't try to catch every word, and so I wonder what listening to a similarly well produced piece in a language I don't understand would be like. Very musical.

The algorithms discriminate, but in ways that humans cannot or do not comprehend. So that discrimination may be perceived as indiscriminate. I get your point that this is a bit of a paradox, but it makes sense to me.
Agreed, and I certainly do not understand AI beyond what I read in the media. Along these lines, in the late 70's/early 80's, when 'computers' were still mysterious, I used to get so pissed off when a bank or utility rep used the excuse of, "That's what the computer says."

Indiscriminate bans and censorship without justification are the first widespread case of AI abusing humans - whether it be your bank, social network, or sharing economy provider. Web3 is a bulwark against that censorship.
The AI algorithms that lead to the bans are discriminating, so it's not indiscriminate. I suppose you could say that it's indiscriminate discrimination, but that's an oxymoron and it's excusing the original AI flaw. http://url.site25.net/7c

That is my initial reaction as well. For me, the threat is not the technology, but the misapplication of that technology.
For example, we are using gmo to allow for MORE spraying of herbicides, not less. That is a misapplication of a technology, IMO. http://web.mit.edu/demoscience/Monsanto/about.html

I think it can be done because we are amazing beings, and where there's a will, there is a way. Biometrics? Implants? Bread crumbs? Electromagnetic signatures? The problem here is that one tool is ahead of another essentially complimentary tool. Blockchain is ahead of ID.
In other words, perhaps a nifty tool that allows user to rebuild a wallet with a fingerprint would be handy. The anonymous (?) seed/key is still intact, but software allows the user to 'not get their hands dirty' with that stuff, no pun intended.

Touché. Can a system where no one has the ability to reset your password ever be as easy to navigate as one without a reset button? Because reset buttons and money don't seem to go together... It's hard to compare digital identities & owned digital value to email accounts...

Can having to keep track of your own car keys, gas in your tank, and air in your tires ever be as mindlessly __easy__ as having a professional chauffeur? Should ease of use always be the primary goal? What many of the chauffeurs habitually show up drunk?
You're comparing physical objects to digital information. It's not a good analogy. People can't even remember their own passwords to their Email, hence the ubiquitous 'Forget my password' button. You don't have signs in parking lots saying 'Lost my keys.'

If crypto currencies broadly failed to gain mainstream adoption, what would it mean? __and why?__ 1) Can't have nice things without centralized power brokers 2) There was a failure to educate people properly 3) Regulators had squashed innovation 4) All of the above 5) [other]
The people who are into crypto now are into it for the tech, the money, or both. For wider adoption to happen, it has to make sense to, work for, and benefit people who care nothing about either the tech or the money. So the answer is 5: ease of use.

Hello all you crazy Peepers! Flowers for you all.
Thanks for then Enso Bevan! Here is the initial picture in the series which I took over breakfast from a hotel in Aomori, Japan. The first is more elegant, if snowy parking lot pictures can be so.

I want more of my own recognition of what really matters, which I only consider when confronted with death. Absent that confrontation, I can't help but focus on less meaningful things. In fact, I have too much time, hence my mental laziness. It's a product of affluence.
Perhaps we only want more time because we fail to appreciate the moment. After all, that's all there is really. We want more time so we can appreciate the moment later, when it's convenient, when we've finished working or planning or thinking. There's no such thing as more time.

Why are robots saying we are fucked if we ever get in a war with humans? Just make their water inaccessible.
I'm in a required PD session and I have set up my Zoom camera on my Peepeth computer so as I'm peeping they think I'm being PD'd. I'm so naughty.

If somebody totally new to the scene were to ask you what the heck crypto, blockchain, decentralization, distributed data, etc. was all about, what 3 sources would you direct them to? I'm seriously considering putting this together for coworkers. Noted that this is a broad net.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I may be mistaken, but I remember reading some 25 years ago that the copyright law was changed as a result of Mickey Mouse approaching the age at which he would be in the public domain. Disney was largely behind the increase in copyright reach. -?
At the time, the law was that work entered the public domain 50 (75?) years after the creator's death. I'm not sure what it is now.

The previous 18 pages were posted earlier under #Gemstone. The platform won't take pdf files and I'm too lazy to compile pages into one long jpg, so I uploaded them separately. The source file is in pretty bad shape, so trying to make one jpg probably wouldn't work anyway.

I can't find much entry level documentation, but one thing I found is that if you make a source page, you can use a URL for it, like this: https://d2r2.solid.community/public/test.html. You can also upload files. I have more questions than answers.

@Shigako, So sad to hear the news. I know I didn't express it, but Ron, or rather your sharing of your pictures of Ron, brightened my day since I first came part of the Peepeth community. Ron spread happiness and joy. What more can one ask of a life?
