I agree. My approach is to not spend what I'm HODLing, but to just buy a bit of ETH for my target purpose. So, to test out Peepeth, I just bought a small amount of ETH.
I mean, gee whiz, we're only talking a few dollars!

It takes a very good sport to spend some of the ETH you think will be worth a ton more someday to build the network effect that makes it worth a ton more someday.

going on right now. absolutely incredible force. not only the sight, but the sounds. grateful for the technology and the people who have been able to bring this view to us. https://www.facebook.com/civilbeat/videos/1952992674733451
That's great! (The feed that is.) Thank you! You're so lucky to live in such an amazing place.
I'm an enthusiast of such events -- typhoons, earthquakes, volcanoes. Yes, they are deadly, but so wondrous in their power and our lack of ability to control them.

@pluma me also read Peeps by @toosomething then feel agreed.
Hi Shigako! I finally got that somewhat negative sounding handle changed. I'm no longer feeling too something!

wonderful! looks like it was a beautiful sunset. will have to add that one to the bucket list for sure!
It's our home, or at least where a lot of our stuff is. Taiwan is not as travel-friendly as some places, but the people are great and it's just a really interesting place. Definitely worthy of a spot on your bucket list. Let me know if you need info!

You can change your username in settings. (Though not very often) I am an old guy (my first full time job I coded in Ada). I feel young again, this is such an amazing time.
Thanks. I'm not a coder or developer, but I like understanding the concepts behind all of this... can I call it Web 3.0 or is that a faux pas?
But I think I represent a demographic that needs to get involved for widespread adoption to occur.

welcome to peepeth, dcr! i am currently following some of your responses about hodling/use/adoption and i like what you have to say about actually putting our currencies to use. may i ask where your profile picture was taken? (looks like hawaii!)
Hi pluma. It was taken on the east coast of Taiwan, near Dulan. Beautiful place!

HODLing everything is playing the short game. The long game is showing the world that what you're "hodling" is capable of being awesome... which requires use... Lots of people need to *see* - they don't have infinite imaginations. User interfaces def need improvement though.
Agreed. Like anybody else, I love to see the prices of my currencies go up, but it's in actually using them for goods and services that I really appreciate them.

It's interesting that gas prices in increments of pennies (even @ current levels) are preventing a wider adoption. Even if you assume a .10 USD avg batch cost, it's only 130 bucks & that's for about ALL of the Peeps submitted to date ($1.60 for my 250 peeps over 2 months)
For those who had never really used metamask or a dapp wallet, it's those steps that may discourage them. I think the need for gas is a good thing and it's so little. But then there are those who just want to hodl EVERYTHING!

Your peep plus any image is stored in IPFS, with only the IPFS hash stored as a transaction input.
Brilliant. IPFS is new to me and it makes perfect sense after a quick read. You folks who are on the cutting edge of this stuff must be so excited. You must wake up in the morning with purpose. I hope you do anyway. (Or in the afternoon as the case may be.) Thank you!

The data is stored on IPFS. A link to your post on IPFS, rather than your picture, is what is saved to the blockchain You can find out more on the Peepeth-How page https://peepeth.com/how
Thank you!
Quick question. When I go to post, it gives me the option to attach a picture. Is that going on the blockchain? Isn't that expensive? Couldn't I just use a URL to a picture in the cloud? Be kind. Thanks.

Yesterday morning.
I miss life in the big city. (Interesting how it's OK to use the definite article 'the' with an indefinite 'big city', isn't it?) It's a stimulating mix of energy and anonymity.
Just been exploring peepeth for a couple hours and love it. It is reigniting my interest in technology and my faith in ETH. (I'm sorta an old guy.) I now just need to change my handle. It's just too.... something.
