Yeah, what worries me is regulation slowing innovation. At least this tech is resistant to that kind of interference to some degree.
(2/2) ...legislating something as complex about blockchain. It will happen - unless by that point we've gone through a paradigm shift in politics - but I hope the ship will have sailed by then, and benefits will be shown to outweigh ills.

(1/2) I'm honestly not concerned about it hindering innovation for the foreseeable ("Hey, no law against it - let's do it as long as it's not morally reprehensible!"), but I am very concerned about politicians who barely have a clue about *servers*

The blockchain is too distributed to be censored, ipso facto there's no way the government could shut down all nodes. If they could, Bitcoin would've been dead in the water.
I will optimistically hope that's what will happen!

No statists legislation should have any applicability on the blockchain. Any loophole to appeal to the "right to be forgotten" would defeat the purpose of the blockchain anyway.
Legislation might not take the side of "should", but the side of "is".
EU legislators might say "blockchain technology must adhere to GDPR; shut down the nodes if it doesn't", rather than "GDPR cannot apply to blockchain; let's change the law".
That's what worries me.

The bottom row is all LabView. Top middle is just two cameras that don't really need to output any data. Top left is internet-connected so I can look things up. (And maybe goof off a little).

I'll go on record saying I am <b>strongly</b> against that decision. In my mind it is no more noble to let a random guy on the internet squat on a thousand names than it is to let the platform itself use them for growth.

Couldn't a digital art market be secured via staking? For an artist to sell "original" works on chain they have to stake eth as a guarantee of originality. Then in cases of dispute an oracle/random jury could evaluate the timestamps on chain and the fraud would lose their stake.
Isn't this what Kodak wanted (wants?) to do with the KodakCoin?
