Good idea Sonya, will add this. For now, you can view the text of replies by clicking the "replied" link in each notification.
I hope you don't feel bombarded by feature requests — what you've built so far is already amazing!

Hello Peepeth
Welcome to the Peepverse!
Time to go play Pathfinder with friends. I'll tell them all about my Peepeth and CryptoKitties adventures. Please post interesting peeps while I'm away!
Is there anything equivalent to 2FA that I can use to protect my MetaMask account / address / whatever it is?
I feel like I should know this already. I'm more cryptocurrency-savvy than the average person but the operational hurdles abound!

A key question for @bevan: Since content via IPFS + blockchain is immutable, as I understand it — and it's super possible that I'm simply misunderstanding on a technical level — how will Peepeth handle the inevitable troll who posts child porn?
Ahh, @bevan addressed this issue previously on Hacker News https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16816783

What about just EtherLink. Your product seems to be about sending Ether and the "Link" denotes connecting it between people
@adam
Hmm, I feel like EtherLink is pretty vague. EtherSend would make it clear what the product does. PayEther or EtherPay seem likely to be taken, but are even more explicit.
The most annoying part of using dApps (in my experience) is still getting the $ETH from one place to another. Bank account —> GDAX —> MetaMask (via Coinbase) —> final destination. Lotta mental overhead and clicking "accept" before you achieve your goal.

#FeatureRequest @bevan
I would love to be able to see the text of replies in my notifications tab. Right now they show up in the firehose TL anyway so it's not a big deal, but that won't scale well.

Your peep/batch is stored in IPFS. The hash is stored as transaction input. Your peep: https://gateway.ipfs.io/ipfs/QmR8ZjTa3cHan7625mYVg5APHG3WoqWTkNyiuxDe2JRvqM Your batch tx: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xf5ea4437f03e613a2de0f999057de5ec261f3db31a4018d1a3c328556a1a86df

I think it's great... that way you make sure that no one sells your data... Plus $0.01, it'll take me a long time until I peeped one buck away ;)
I mean... instead anyone who wants to can scrape your data, so I don't think privacy is a big difference.

CryptoKitties to me was the first mainstream blockchain app. Though it needs to be on mobile. Peepeth in my opinion is the second. Add in mobile dApp browsers and you get some mobile experience. Native clients will make further improvements.
I agree on both counts! CryptoKitties is so well-suited to be a mobile game that you play with in line for groceries or whatever

Will be launching https://ethercashlinks.com on peepeth next week!, please critique my idea and give feedback? (finishing the copy and fixing last bugs coming days)
Caveat: I'm not qualified to give technical feedback.
People may be confused by "ether cash" and think that it's a separate token rather than ethereum.
Landing page design is great, and the idea is a good one.
@user lmao I love your username

Hello there peeps. Look at us, chatting in the firehose... when was the last time you could do such a thing on Twitter?
I love the firehose! I wish Twitter still had it, so you could dip in and out whenever you wanted.

Someone has to pay for every service. On a “free” service you need to look at who is paying and what it costs you. Peepeth you pay blockchain miners to validate your transaction. The peepeth front end is “free” paid by tip percentages and verification fees. Your data is public
True, but I suspect that normies don't care enough about advertising or data collection to change their behavior. We'll know for sure when we see Facebook's next quarter numbers...
That said, small and niche communities can be awesome.

I just bid on a couple of #CryptoKitties for the first time! They're so cute, and the breeding mechanic would have been super cool on Neopets back in the day. I could see kids really getting into CryptoKitties, actually. Maybe I'll teach my niece when I see her next.
the birb #CryptoKitties are so cute

I can see Peepeth needing a Patreon-like feature to support the accounts of people who can't afford their own 🤔

Are there other services that use this combination of blockchain/IPFS/micro-transactions?
Numa, which is also interoperable with the Fediverse (to some extent) https://numaverse.com/
It feels so unnatural not to be able to fave replies. Should I start doling out $0.01 tips like "hey I saw that; here's a positive interaction"?
Or should I just embrace that the norms here will be different from 1:1 Twitter clones
Got it. Frankly, I think the current iteration of Peepeth is too expensive to really take off, when there are so many free social media options (Twitter, Facebook, the Fediverse, startups) but I'm interested enough to stick around for a bit
Replying to @joonian (0x990109670056e7645d295fcbaf41e2505bd69ea7)
Everything costs eth 😢
Ngl, I don't really want to pay for social media when there are so many free options
I hang out on the Fediverse regularly! https://maly.io/@sonya

It is like twitter but there's no central Company/State/... that is able to delete your post.
couldn't that be accomplished with just IPFS, no blockchain needed?

I definitely jumped on @sonya but maybe I should save my usual full handle too. Seems like a bit of a hassle though
Replies are posted as quote-tweets?! Or quote-peeps I guess

So it's like Twitter but posting costs $ETH? Hmmm
Hello! Hopefully this is working.
