I met a guy from Europe tonight who said adjusting the laws there for utility tokens would be no great lift

Yes, but I was never logged on FB on my browser. I have the phone app. I could see how they could track my searches

Doesn't matter if you're logged in. If there's a cookie with your ID they can follow you all over.
That "like" button everyone puts on their websites? That's a tracker. Even if you don't click it, it sees who you are.

I don't know if you all are familiar with the political comics site "The Nib" from First Look Media, but they just made an EXTRAORDINARY claim in their newsletter:

@BradyDale Good question. Gwei is right. I do not plan to charge a usage fee. All other revenue ideas appreciated!

There's a part of me that sort of wishes you would... as a reporter, I'd love to see someone successfully run micropayments cc: @callmegwei

My own experience with the Internet of Value so far has been encouraging. Maybe it's that the rewards of being positive and constructive outweigh the costs of being mean or negative? Steemit shared this quality, for me - though I ultimately felt lost in bots on that platform.

I accidentally made a non-negligible amount of money off Steem from just playing about with it in the early days. It was very surprising one day when I looked at my wallet...

Hey Peeple - I'm trying to spread awareness for the Peepeth platform... again on reddit, but this time /r/ethereum Check it out - chime in with what you love about Peepeth! https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/8cgysu/an_intro_to_peepeth_the_real_crypto_twitter_and/

Up-voted.
So the monetization model for Peepeth is ultimately to charge folks a tiny amount as they use it, right? That seems totally fair and also pretty interesting, from a micro-payments standpoint

Instagram with only Stories... do you mean it’s similar to ~ Snapchat ~ ?

Yeah except it doesn't really feel like Snapchat in my mind (and then again I quit Snapchat FOREVER ago)

incoming "i hate the name" comments, lol. people are so superficial. i love the name and i hope it will be the main face of the platform forever. thanks for x-posting this to reddit, it's how i found #peepeth originally. #signalboost

I'm just glad that there aren't gross double meanings like Mastodon's unfortunate posting nomenclature.

@joonian OK, so I think *technically* I did beat you on here then...

Have folks seen this app Lit, that earns Mithril tokens? It's out of Taiwan. Any thoughts on it? It's cool they already have an app out. The UX is a little janky but it's brand new.
It's social media, basically Instagram if it were only "Stories"
Not lots of folks on it yet.

Anyone got a good example of a non-ICO token distribution that had high perceived value and didn't feel scammy?

This probably isn't want your looking for but I dove into airdrops a little while back: https://www.coindesk.com/long-icos-hello-airdrops-free-token-giveaway-craze/ They take many forms...

I spent much of today plotting a trip to Iceland with some friends.
Should be great but really hard to make decisions. Everything looks cool but all in a very similar way.

I did this 30-day pushup challenge. Finished last night. TBH, I did it in 32 days to make up for some pushups I'd miss to the 3000 pushup goal along the way.
It was a good experience: https://youtu.be/TlQ8txalLYg

@Bryce @BradyDale I’m not thinking of violating immutability. What about solutions where for example a key to decrypt a given person’s private data on the #blockchain is destroyed? Blockchain remains immutable, but “right to be forgotten” remains Just an example. @peeplosophy

If there's a technical solution that doesn't blow up the blockchain, that's pretty compelling. Too late for these messages already tho! They won't be forgotten...

#peeplosophy The EU’s GDPR promises citizens the “right to deletion” (“right to be forgotten”). Watching to see if #blockchain devs in general consider solutions or just ignore:p

I have really mixed feelings about this. I think GDPR is a great development for the world, but yeah it's just not compatible with the blockchain. I guess the main solution is to really help the general public get immutability on these sorts of sites.

Your 12 word seed phrase is your username/password/identity all rolled into one. You can import into multiple apps but triple check the app against multiple sources to make sure it is what you think it is. https://www.callmegwei.com/2018/02/08/different-wallets-same-you/

OK, I will read this later for sure. Thanks. Definitely want to wrap my head around it. I get that sort of partly in something like theory.

That is the great thing about ethereum, you can do this. All you need to do is restore your seed into those applications instead of creating a new wallet. Once you import your seed into Toshi, you can access Peepeth and be logged in the same way you are now.

So like... use the restore words I got when I saved Metamask in the beginning?
I thought those were like words of last resort?

Before I was a reporter, I was a community organizer.
Sometimes I can't help but think about public actions that take place.
I'm glad more protests are happening. The end of the Oklahoma teachers strike led me to pin this about better strategy:

Apr 14, 2018 03:24

OK, super stupid question:
But I joined Peepeth on my browser. Is there a way I can activate it on my mobile, on Toshi, as well?
I cannot figure this out.

I confess: I am a crypto reporter and I really don't get Metamask...
