So robbers these days would only be interested in the ubs sticks, and if I was a robber I would add Chewie to my goodiebag :)

People who post their public keys are actually being specifically targeted by thieves. Some were kidnapped and tortured for their private keys. Stay private and protect yourself friends!

Now that I seem to have gotten Metamask unstuck, I continue to see the "unsaved actions" notification, even after paying. I wondering if I'm now paying multiple times to make that go away, because it's showing post-payment while still in the waiting period? If so, should be fixe

Check the transaction on etherscan and until it is confirmed it will always say unsaved. Wait for it to confirm then refresh peepeth. All posted transactions will be gone. It is best to post in batches and confirm all at once. This way you will pay the least and make no mistakes.

All my currencies

Priceless. Save those pennies from 1982 or earlier as they are worth more as copper than pennies after 1982 they switched to worthless zinc (although full disclosure its illegal to melt down US currency for it's metals).

Hey there peeps. I'd like to say I'm glad the name PeepEth, with a cute penguin mascot was chosen, instead of Pepeth an Frog as a mascot.

Pepeth the frog hahaha. Maybe for the KKK blockchains.

Why do peeps need to be saved on chain? Doesn't sound that it provides much of a value tbh

It just makes your posts more difficult to censor. While the website data is local, when you publish to the blockchain and say the website gets censored, a node could potentially restore your data from the blockchain which is immutable.

Apr 24, 2018 13:47

eosDAC up 71.90% the past 24hrs. Check out this coin for yourself. It is a community owned block producer of the EOS blockchain and will support for the community as a whole while working on providing cheap fast transactions over the blockchain.

Damn I used to love that back in my AOHell days. That was before I cleared out all the HDDs for the T3 dumpsite hooked up to my EFNet eggdrop. Forgot all about that book. Do you have a copy?

I cannot confirm or deny this on a public ledger.

I just put #censorship resistance to the test with Peepeth. We’ll know the results soon. Do the right thing.

What did you do, post the Anarchist Cookbook?

No problem. Could be interesting to have their service on the site, too. That way, if anyone would post phishing links, a bot could delete the peep or send a warning.

Yeah that would be fantastic. Anything to maintain the integrity of the site is a great benefit. It also doesn't sound too difficult/expensive to implement with bigger upside than down.

Apr 17, 2018 17:47

Speaking of metacert partnerships all Peeps should also download Cryptonite. It is a way of verifying that you are on an official cryptocurrency website and not a phishing scam.

After I verified my account, he adviced me to tell the peepeth team about cooperation: "You should probably reach out to the team as they could partner with us for the verification process and then provide their own shield - like Twitter but one that works." Here: t.me/metacert

This is a great idea and agree they should partner with them.

I just had a Telegram chat with Paul Walsh (the MetaCert CEO) about verifying peepeth.com. His reaction: "My personal opinion is to not verify the domain for the same reason we don't verify twitter. Instead we verify "people" or "brands" so you know they're not fake or bots."

I received an email to the same effect. Thank you for reaching out as well.

Hey peeple I have a q about how peepeth works. The data is stored on the ipfs blockchain right? So how come we’re paying gas and doing transactions on the ethereum chain?

Not every company creates their own coin. They simply choose to utilize ethereum. All Erc20 coins operate on the ethereum blockchain and the ipfs blockchain is being written to the ethereum blockchain.

Replying to @veox (0xf75b78571f6563e8acf1899f682fb10a9248cce8)

That usually takes a while to confirm, but shorter than the time it takes me to make 15 actions. I'm using it on desktop, though (Firefox + MetaMask), so bumping the gas price is simple if a batch takes too long.

Sometimes there is an ICO or new Dapp that is released and the Ethereum blockchain gets congested, when this happens transactions can take a very long time to confirm and increase the cost of sending the transaction substantially. When this occurs it may make sense to pay more.

Exactly, this way the data is decentralised and available as long as at least one node hodls the requested data.

When we signed up for Peepeth didn't I see something about this website being centralized and censorable but that as long as a node is up we can restore the data? I should have screen shotted it but it didn't cross my mind.

Don't know a lot about Uganda but it seems more like an attempt to stop criticism.

Social media in developing countries is as powerful as the government in some places. We may underestimate its value in civilized society but it is a powerful tool for connecting potential rebels together. By making it seem like there is less dissent people will not seek change.

Just got an email from Kaspersky confirming, that they removed Peepeth from their anti-phishing database: > "We have checked the link you sent us. It has been confirmed as a false positive. The link will be excluded from our anti-phishing databases."

Anybody working on getting us set up with Cryptonite? They verify crypto websites so you know you aren't on a phishing site.

Apr 17, 2018 13:12

Perhaps many people are hodling and therefore have no capitals gains taxes to report on their cryptocurrency.

Reading comments on etherscan is just so depressing. How do people still fall for scams?

I feel like the same people who open spam emails and give out their phone numbers online are the people who are falling for these schemes. Once regulations set in, the space will become much more user friendly and they will nerf the sharp edges so the fools don't hurt themselves.

I'm going to agree with @shortcut on this one. @Cryptocurrency - currently this is a group of enthusiasts excited about tech. Price is cool too, but presentation is important. Lots to discuss around here. I don't want to use my mute button on such an awesome handle.

I got lucky and stumbled here early. No reason to be so extreme when clearly I'm just one of you. I have my entire life savings poured into crypto. I'm fully invested.

What if the goal of Ensō is to encourage a new, more thoughtful type of social media interaction? Our "human nature" on how we interact online isn't written into our DNA. It is up to us to be the change we want to see in the (social media) world! ;) #peeplosophy

Yes much like I have come to realize from steemit, when you add the ability to earn something from your posts, you realize the potential repercussions of your actions much more than you would if you were on facebook or twitter. It isn't just a message its a piece of your account.

We'd like to get to know you, but when your first peeps are just about making 'money', it's not really telling a lot about you rather than that. In a small group of < 1000 there is no need to ask for followers. I didn't even start to use the 'Friends' tab yet.

My Peepeth is going to be dedicated to providing news, reviews and tips on the cryptocurrency world. The emphasis will be on making money in crypto. My steemit is a good indicator of the content I will creat there so give it a look: https://steemit.com/@steeleminer

You guys should really get to know me. I am just trying to get my name out there. It is a new platform and the better you can get your handle out there the better reach you will have. I am a dedicated Ethereum miner and lover and am trying to transition into doing this full time.

How about starting some real conversation and making some friends here, rather than buying followers? #justsaying

I have posted a few interesting articles that I wrote on my steemit account friend. I'm not trying to buy followers I just want to have a platform that allows me to help as many people as I possibly can. Many people do promotions to attract followers I don't consider this shady.

I have just fixed it thank you so much! I love steemit it is a place where you get paid for the content that you create and can really make a decent amount of money by doing just posting things you normally would be posting anyways! Peepeth remains to be seen I just joined!

Haha not quite. I am just trying to get my name out there so for a follow and a peep I will send one of my followers at random a tip. Just want to provide my news to a broad audience!

Apr 16, 2018 22:09

Peep and follow @cryptocurrency for the chance to win a tip. If I get 30 followers and peeps the tip will be 1$, 50 followers $5 and if I get 100 or more followers from this promotion one lucky person will receive a $10 tip and a shoutout. Must Peep & Follow to be entered.
