Haha, no no, I’m not special. 😂 I just had to set my priorities. I had 18 credit hours at university, full-time job, 20 per week internship, and I was flipping a house. Every Tuesday/Wednesday I was awake 36 hours. It was a tough few years, haha.

Took a six-month break from social media (except for a little cheating on Peepeth). It's good to be back!

Learning and playing with Inkscape. What would you change?
I would make the foam whiter, the bubbles smaller, and deepen the curve of the base so it was at least as round as the rim.

I shall survive this death, even though the heart is
a shadow of a bone.
Or thick glass.
My mouth quick with many bees.
(Paul Carroll)
In the early morning dark
he dreamed of the spring woodsflowers
standing in the ground,
dark yet under the leaves and under
the bare cold branches.
But in his dream he knew their way
was prepared, and in their time
they would rise up joyful.

I believe it's because the preview image cannot be served over https. Were Peepeth to show it, browsers would warn Peepeth users that the page is not secure (since Peepeth is over https). I'll make it not show anything if that's the case, rather than showing the broken link icon.
That would be better behavior. Better behavior still would be my getting around to moving the blog over to https. Thank you for all you do, Bevan.

Wow, congratulations! Very impressive that you've kept it up over the years and through various CMSs. Enjoyed reading your post from five years ago as well, and your answer to "why": "You might as well ask a cat why it stretches out in the sunny spot on the floor." #peeplosophy
Thank you @bevan! While I have you here, any idea why that preview got wiped out?

I'd love to make a "paleo-style" social network where you're randomly assigned to a tribe that's capped at 150 active users. No friending, no switching groups, just small communities. @balresch https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunbar%27s_number

Haha, I can help :) I usually just eat the two halves with #Sriracha sauce, or cut one up and eat it with whatever else I'm eating. Would love to make guac but it takes me ~10x longer to make than to eat. I remember the avos in Hawaii being huge! Are they a staple for you too?
I regard avocado+sriracha as an acceptable minimal implementation of guacamole
My review of the Fra Angelico show at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is up at The New Criterion. Paywalled, but I try to make it worth it. https://www.newcriterion.com/issues/2018/5/exhibition-note-9775
I very much appreciate how @bevan is rethinking the whole social media experience. Enso instead of likes. You can only pin other users' posts. The more I see the more I like. Good work, man.

This is a beautiful translation. I have read this poetry of China in Japanese, translation was also nice and a little different from this. I imagine that there were journeys of translators between the lines and the languages.
Thank you for the Ensō! Hamill, who just died on 4/14, was a longtime Zen practitioner. That and his reverence for the Beats play into his translations.
The birds have vanished down the sky.
Now the last cloud drains away.
We sit together, the mountain and me,
until only the mountain remains.

@franklin I love them. Capturing people's states in minimal brush strokes. You are talented. Also, is it just me or does the Red Line always seem to "break down" on the bridge to Charles MGH?
Funny, somebody was just saying that a couple of days ago on r/boston :)
