testing
This was a test trying to figure out the flow for uploading images to a post - I want this as a feature for @peepdroid - but I am having trouble finding out how to get a valid eltID - @bevan can you give me a hint?
DAI #1 on the list of initial ERC-20 tokens for OpenBazaar
You should really try out OpenBazaar - really nice UX

Hey Andrew! Not yet, but that's coming soon.
That sounds great! Will revoking also be possible?

Awesome idea! IPFS is exactly right for that kind of usecase. I wonder about the role of blockchain in your scenario. Todays blockchains would not be able to operate in that environment for exactly the reasons you described. Any ideas how this could be resolved?
Thanks! I think it should be possible to sync Ethereum in a high latency mode. Not a thing I want to attack right now - but I am pretty sure it is possible - would need some work though and you would always be some blocks behind - x>(latency/block_time)

.. and hacking on @peepdroid so it can get the a "Space/High latency/Decentralized" mode where the central PeepETH servers are not used and we can maybe get a better UX when being far away from Earth - very early mainly conceptual stage - but also improving @peepdroid and ..
.. IPFSDroid in this process. Really hope I can get @peepdroid to a state where I feel comfortable to release it to play and f-droid before DevCon4. The fact that PeepETH is now free for all really helps as there are less code paths to cover now - still lot of work to do ..-)

One advantage of PeepETH that is IMHO totally underrated currently is that this can become a social network that we can use as space traveling species. You would not want to use twitter on e.g. mars as the latency would kill UX. I am currently at NASA Space Apps challenge ..

It is (allegedly) only stored on IPFS. Anything uploaded to IPFS will always be there. The difference is whether or not you share the decryption key for the given content / file. Since our peeps are meant to be public, the decryption key is shared for all, otherwise it won't work
> Anything uploaded to IPFS will always be there.
unfortunately there is no such guarantee - it is only there as long as people pin it. When filecoin or similar systems get ready we could get *some* availability guarantees.
Also there is no encryption and so no decryption key.

gotcha. i agree its the right step for now - full trustlessness is nice, but useless if no one is gonna use it. Keep up the great work!! I work in blockchain as well and peepeth has always been an inspiration for me.
Redirecting all credits to @bevan ..-)

Can someone explain to me the logistics of how Peepeth lets users peep for free? I understand that the crowdfund gave ETH to cover gas costs of users, but what are the actual mechanics of supplying each user with gas for a tx? wouldn't the tx still need to originate from the user
Unfortunately it is not yet meta transactions. The trick is cheap TX's via stateless smart contracts, storing most stuff on IPFS and bundling. Unfortunately this not only makes it cheap - it also centralizes a bit - still a step in the right direction IMHO

Up and running: 1. Twitter = Peepeth 2. Instagram = Textile 3. FB = work in progress 4. IM = Signal 5. Files = Nextcloud (looking at Blockstack things though) Getting. Close!
Try [matrix] as alternative to Signal where you do not need to use a phone-number (https://matrix.org)

I forgot what I needed them for the last time, probably just to stick them in a fat battery pack and call it a camp light 😄 Shipping included in that price? Where did they ship from, China?
No they where shipping from Germany ;-)

#lkie are those LEDs on a USB board? I can't find mine, needed them badly a couple of weeks ago.
Yes - this is exactly what this is. Actually I do not really need them currently - just wanted to order something cheap as a test order - they have just been 1,5€ incl. shipping. Also they are not completely useless. Might come handy some day ;-)
But the main purpose was to test.
Got my first @openbazaar delivery recently by @anyone_ob - can't wait for @openbazaar to get native @ethereum support (should happen soon - hopefully with @makerdao DAI support)
The future is decentralized - we do not need middle-man like @ebay ..

Google can easily throw them out of play I guess - should really try to get brave on f-droid soon.
@Bevan regarding twitter cross-posting: https://twitter.com/pedrouid/status/1043167715463028736 - perhaps just removing the "@" is a nice first step ..-?
Here a picture from @afri presenting the görli testnet yesterday - really like the idea of a cross implementation testnet
This peep also analyzes the @peepeth image flow - need that feature in PeepDroid ;-)
Test peep @ethberlin from ethereum berlin meetup demo

Some @ethberlin projects will be shown at Ethereum Meetup Berlin today at c-base. After the current talk @afri will talk about the goerli testnet. And then I will give a short intro on PeepDroid. Afterwards Hendrik Bilges and team will show what they where building @ethberlin

Sorry unfortunately this is German content - but IMHO it needs to be shared. Also especially really interesting in the last section as they also talk about BlockChain a bit. https://alternativlos.org/42

Does anyone know what messageID is in there? I think ipfsHash is the hash for the message - really unsure about messageID as the ipfsHash is kind of the messageID as far as I see - any hint @bevan ?

I like the gift icon instead of the dollar bill!
You can also use it - it is part of the material icons:
https://material.io/tools/icons/?search=gift&icon=card_giftcard
IMHO it makes it a bit more international (and also I did not find a dollar bill under the correct license in a vector format ;-)

Dam - I think I broke something hard here. No chance anymore replying to this peep ..
@Bevan FYI: I think I know what the problem here is. Was setting a parentId in the peep but not in origContents. Doing this now. But think this should be fixed on your side also. Why is this redundancy there anyway? Having trouble understanding the intend.
Breaking some more - testing sharing from PeepDroid ..-)

Adding functions like reply repeep and such before the public release. Unfortunately I did not find a good vector icon for esno. So it is the heart again for now. Fun fact in the API it is also still called love - not esno - so the heart is quite fitting ;-)
