3. Renting instead of owning is going to continue, fractional ownership on the blockchain for investment is great, but how can it be used by those not seeking diversified real estate investment, but instead as a way for renters to get something back from their lease?

Oct 04, 2018 14:22

2. However, with blockchain tech, even as a renter you could potentially own a fraction of the home you are renting if it is tokenized. If you own a portion of the property you would want to maintain it and see the value increase. Better for any owners involved, and renters.

Oct 04, 2018 13:03

1. There's always been this notion that it's better to buy something than rent because you can make money off your property and aren't paying someone else's bills. Easier said than done when more people are renting today than the last 50 years. It's too expensive to own!

my first autumn in years. never want it to end. 😍🍁

I always wondered why people love living in a single season all year round. Sure, they may not want a seven month long, Canadian winter, but fall and spring are such beautiful seasons, especially fall!

Experiencing two or more seasons ftw. :D

Yes - this is exactly what this is. Actually I do not really need them currently - just wanted to order something cheap as a test order - they have just been 1,5€ incl. shipping. Also they are not completely useless. Might come handy some day ;-) But the main purpose was to test.

Cool! I always wanted to try openbazaar but never took the plunge.

Reconsidering my past choices.

DutchX is @gnosisPm's trading protocol, whose pilot was launched this week on the mainnet. Community participation is open now, and a community-owned DAO that will be used for governance is in the works.

Also mentioned, an interface for a dex?

Remember last year when everyone was saying their #token had #utility so it wasn't a security? That didn't work. This breaks down the difference between the two and why the #securitytoken and #sto may be what crypto needs right now.

Smaller transactions like coffee or groceries may not have 100% of the kinks worked out yet, but the fact that major purchases like cars, houses, and pieces of art can be purchased with crypto seems to be more important. Like, did we not just skip ahead to the hardest purchases?

You're absolutely right, people who really believe in it will use it regardless (if they can), but for mainstream adoption crypto will have to serve everyday needs.

My favourite use case is for the fair compensation of content creators, so I love seeing crypto in the art world.

Bitcoin has had 99.992% uptime using PoW. Other blockchains using new consensus algorithms experience halting, creating tradeoffs between accessibility and consistency.

New blockchains may experience outages, but is it at the expense of usability?

Ah yes, architect vs engineer, the age old debate. A specialist will be able to devote more waking hours to any given field. Multi-disciplinarians will invariably split time available between various studies... thus, exceptional cases are all that break what becomes the rule.

I enjoyed the refreshing solution of empathy. Be an expert, but know that other experts exist and you can work together. The most knowledgeable person can quickly become the weakest link when they fail to acknowledge that they aren't knowledgeable in everything.

What a surprise, funny though how they reject to work with companies related to cryptocurrencies, especially NL subsidiary.

Well the problem is that crypto is used for illegal activities whereas fiat logistically can not and has not ever been used for illicit dealings.

Like @vbuterin says, adoption is next. We can create all the coolest software in the world but:
- people need to know it exists
- people need to see past FUD to it's true potential
- people need to use it

We're getting there, it's an exciting time :D

Every day I see more people starting to feel hopeless with the current #markets situation because of the uncertainty about when prices will recover. More traders are deciding to resign from trading and sell all of their assets but that makes the price even more falling.

Well as long as you don't feel hopeless! This ecosystem is about more than just investment, if prices are low, there's an opportunity for *believers*, not investors, to join with lower barriers. Trust the technology.

Yep, I've been on Brave for months now, converted all my devices over. It's great that they gave free BAT to try, I ended up purchasing some on top to give to my fav sites. I'm excited to see what happens now that they've updated to support chrome extensions.

To be fair, I think it should be a little of both. I think we're too much in the habit of shitting on companies--especially big ones but we never consider their origins, their experiences, their costs, their human capital. Just my 2 gwei :)

True! I just feel like we don't have both yet. Medium is great but I'd love the option to compensate in micropayments when I use the service as opposed to the typical monthly subscription we're so accustomed to.

Sep 10, 2018 14:45

I love Medium, but I hate that I simply open a link and it still counts as 1/3 reads for the month. I refuse to sign up only because I want a micropayment option for stories I actually like where the creator gets the payment.

Absolutely, agricultural practices are having a huge affect on our climate and it's quickly becoming an unsustainable industry. Leave agriculture to true farmers and remove factory farming while engineering meat safely.

Ya, I can't say I'd miss the manager of the manager of the manager who suggests process changes while being completely disconnected from the fundamental, ground level execution of day to day business.
