... Did you go into the Fundoor?
No answer for three days, second-to-last peep... Guess he did!
Trying out #Vultr for VPS services. The plans seem more suited for #parity than #geth - for #Ropsten, at least.
"You already had a day job." - made me chuckle:

Yay! Peepeth started showing the "Friends" tab on the homepage; and it finally works again (for me).

Dear Peepeth - can y'all hook a brother up with CTL+ENTER = post?
Best use the "feedback" button (bottom-right), otherwise high chance it'll scroll off.
TAB,TAB,ENTER works for now.

Probably because their cache is picking up steam by all these IPFS pinning consortium nodes around the globe, wildly pinning this content :) https://github.com/ipfsconsortium/IPFSConsortiumProxy
Nope, there was some major sluggishness with #AWS. :D
Peep images are loading faster for me through #IPFS (via Peepeth Reader) than from #AWS (via peepeth.com).

#PSA: I've switched one of my #geth #lightserv to #Ropsten testnet y-day. I believe either of the two nodes have been serving about half the network's #LES demand. There's much overlap in the halves due to the defaults in #geth / #mist.
I don't think this is a loss of any significance, but it might be harder to find a server if you're running a light client.
The other node remains on $ETH public mainnet.
A #tip: disconnect your light client when you're not using it. Give the spot to someone else.

In the mail today: #efail, vulnerabilities in #email clients being described as one of #PGP (#GPG).
TL;DR: don't use HTML e-mail.

First they ignored bitcoin then they laughed at bitcoin, then they said it is used for terrorism and laundering money, then they said it is worst then trading harvested baby brains... and then they will BUY (anyone thinks differently??)

A rather under-appreciated line of thinking: BigBiz doesn't need a one-size-fits-all public chain; what it benefits most from is interoperability.
I think Vinay Gupta had a nice talk last year on this - the cost of interfacing bureaucracies. No bookmark, though. :/

I have five of them running in the same location now, but the goal is to use a lot more for an upcoming project where they will need to be located around the world. I'm assuming that would force each one to access a different lightserv? *Googles lightserv...*
No-no, they can access any lightserv they want; was wondering about the #decentralised claim. ;)
If they've been running a while, they'll have a few, probably.
Finding a server is rather hard for `geth` light clients; better than it was 4 months ago, but still, not awesome.

I prefer the last link to be the "main" one: usually first ones are references to prior work/discussion.

Hey! Yea I’m working on it right now. Nothing fancy in the works. Had a customer buy a faucet offline. And she had me convert her 3 handle Roman tub faucet to a single, and had to reconfigure the plumbing underneath. The spout was changed to a waterfall spout. This was a pain! 😅
#FirstTime I see a waterfall spout. o_O
How common are these?..

Yes. Peepeth.com (the client/frontend) caches content to #AWS. For a "raw" no-web2 experience, you can try the "demo" Peepeth Reader by @james: http://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmQwNcHfjEXndwagt8ECp3hEXcfCtBJwmNoiKkNXyhs9pG/
Admittedly, the "no-web2" part might be a bit of a stretch, in the most likely use cases. (Exhibit A: ipfs.io.)
Need to run #IPFS node and at least a light #ETH node locally for that.

I tried Akasha (https://akasha.world) a while back. Compared to that, Peepeth is so fast. I guess the difference is that Peepeth has a front-end built around caching IPFS node(?) IPFS on it's own is quite slow, and suffers from disappearing contents as well.

need to pay better attention to replying! again: BEC was one of the tokens affected by the batchOverflow exploit a few days ago. what is the approximate reasoning behind so much gas/tx being sent at this time? forgive me, i'm still a bit ignorant and still learning.
Maybe panic, maybe more people wishing to exploit the bug. Quite a few of the pending transactions look like regular transfers of the same amount, so maybe a "laundromat run".

Tips are not batched (immediate), and very much on-chain.
