"For instance, it is a contradiction to depict one body as constantly falling towards another and at the same time constantly flying away from it. The ellipse is a form of motion within which this contradiction is both realized and resolved." -Marx, Capital I

This is honestly one of the most beautiful analogies I know of.

The Peepeth front-end is really astonishingly well-designed. Just attempted to sign on with a different address in metamask and got a delightful spinning bird animation. Props!

Dear 60-year-old you: it's worth it.

Well I certainly hope so! Hard to imagine a criterion by which that could really be determined though. But the idea is certainly encouraging.

Wow, it's starting to look as if bitcoin has been effectively captured by clueless climate-denying misogynistic bros. I did not see that happening in the idealistic days of 2011. Not a bullish sign.

Mark my words, Mitch McConnell will one day be remembered, not for any of his myriad hypocrisies, but merely as author of President Elizabeth Warren's most effective campaign slogan -- because he was unable to resist his socially ingrained habit of silencing women #ShePersisted

These remind me of Rauschenberg's best early work, as well as all my favorite sixties California concept art. Interesting to notice again how "art" recapitulates magic in a technocapitalist economy.

Very cool. By chance, today I was reading Carpenter's "Civilization: Its Cause and Cure" and thinking about how little his importance is recognized these days.

Of course, Ethereum Land still contains a fair share of SlateStarCodex-style rationalist altruists and utopian weirdos, which is why I for one remain deeply involved.

Is a "Jacobin-mag-style technocrat" some sort of neo-Robespierre? O_o

Ha! I think Jacobin Magazine named itself after the early 19th Century English use of "Jacobin," somewhere between democrat and revolutionary. But they are the voice of a certain style of Silicon Valley democratic socialism.

Crypto-ideologies: Bitcoin is split between old skool crypto-libertarians and nouveau geek mobsters. In Ethereum, the cypherpunks have slowly been crowded out by a mixed bag of hypercapitalist meritocrats and Jacobin-Mag-style technocrat state socialists. An improvement?
