This is a good question. Why couldn't a government (e.g. China) force or block the front end of Peepeth?..Paul
It would be a game of cat and mouse at that point for the censor and the UI creators. The peeps will always exist on the blockchain as the datastore.

help I'm being oppressed
Strange women peeping from ponds and distributing Ensō is no basis for a system of blockchained social networking.

Wow. "Uganda wants to 'tax' social media use to stop online gossip" https://qz.com/1254196/uganda-to-tax-social-media-to-stop-gossip-increase-government-revenue/
I'm going to be in the minority here, and I think that a tax is ridiculous - but I think that paying per message (whatever that is on a given platform) is a great thing (as seen here).

#ThousandthPeep #First I am a peep believer since I used peepeth briefly on a testnet. I am a mobile peeper as that is where I believe is peepeths natural home. I’ve interacted directly with the smart contract, as any client can do. There is no delete. Just keep peeping.
"There is no delete. Just keep peeping."
I like this saying.

$5 tip to the person who guesses the correct date (or closest) that peepeth reaches over 1,000 members! Go!

Same here (for benj as well)
can confirm this seems to be a sitewide "@benj error". He seems like a good guy and deserving of followers.
One feature I would love to see on here that I think Twitter got right is "muted words" settings with the option to set a timeframe and forget about it.
(not that I want to mute anything now, just saying it is a helpful setting)

"As a Toshi user, I'm excited. From an economic point of view, the Coinbase whale gets bigger. Would love to see more competitive Coinbase competitors." Spot On. https://peepeth.com/?id=QmYncHRa3F9B5UjCqSyyXNXEeHnTnYEC1pzMb2T3YEtuH9
Note to self, don't copy Peep URL from nav bar - copy via ellipsis at bottom of peep.

hmm, i've been told i should continue watching 'the expanse', i love sci-fi but didn't really enjoy the first two episodes. does it get better?
Yes, and I agree that the first episode is a tad slow. It takes a few ep to start to see some of the bigger things (political rivalries, etc)
It is very reminiscent of door games back in the BBS days (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBS_door#Door_games). Multiplayer, but not live multiplayer., slightly async I think it is exciting to see.

Might be interesting to have a way to cache Peeps for yourself; the tip button is a step up, but one reason I love Twitter is its ability to keep a log of content I've liked
Agree, I always feel weird favoriting something just to keep up with it for later consumption, but when the only tool is a hammer...

The concept of conversational permanence may attract a different user base and inspire a new kind of dialogue than either facebook or Twitter bring to the table. The format is similar, but having your words permanently transcribed onto the chain makes you stop and think first. ;)
Let's not forget that each tweet of permanence costs you real-world currency. That is a great choice and offers a lot of distinctions from other networks
If you consider FB and Twitter to be the last generation of networks, most new networks are focused on either being ephemeral (snap, insta) or having lasting permanence (this). Two divergences from FB/TWT's center. Or have we learned different channels for diff conversations?
Looks like only one of my twitter followers/followees is on here ( @fredwilson ) this should be fun and a chance to follow some new people in the gray fog of war that is Twitter. Joined it back in 4/2007 and can't even remember what it looked like that young.
Howdy peeps. Was hoping for #500 but looks like I am ~2 off. Regardless, thanks for having me.
