There is a discussion in the US Congress to reclassify them as common carriers but at present they are publishers.

The commentary about Free Speech vs. InfoWars is a troubling reminder that most people don't appear to know that the US Constitution protects people from speech blocking measures of the government, not companies. Second, to say that shit bag doesn't have a platform ignores (1/2)
Are the present social media platforms publishers or common carriers? Their is a legal difference (Communications Decency Act, 1996)

Alex Jones got banned from Apple, Youtube, Facebook, Spotify in 12 hours. Big tech companies are now the judges of what is free-speech or not.
Only the beginning. Next purge will be those who don't use gender pronouns. Overall DApp user base will explode by the end of all this. I don't think theirs enough traction just yet however.

I'm wholeheartedly glad you stayed! I didn't ask you to leave! I asked you to take hateful videos elsewhere. We're all more than a single post/idea Debating free speech in abstract is a valuable and often ignored exercise - one that doesn't requite a hateful video to jump-start
In the end I will post more videos of controversy, particularly Free Speech content. You're welcome to interpret everything as you like.

Don't be preposterous, of course I can censor you (for myself)! I can mute you. But you need interaction, tbh. Criticizing ideas can be done tactfully and with a spirit of good-will towards neighbors. People should have the power not to be subjected to hate. Online and offline.

Fallacy- we are specifically talking about speech in a public setting, not on someones property.

True. So the potential incident was prevented by the police, who could foresee the consequences of a person going towards a religious center to protest against a religion of that temple and prevented it. Her conclusion that it's sharia law was then false.
The Sharia Law comment was more hyperbolic and not the main point. An idea that you cannot criticize in public is evident in this case. If someone wishes to meet speech they don't like with violence then they should be arrested.

It's a grim future we build every day we put (any)ideologies above decency and helping each other.
I disagree, the principles of autonomy are of greater importance than feelings.
One day Statist will oppose crypto-technologies application as a currency en masse. Presently it seems to be well received but the ideologies will clash. Blockchain will become highly political and will be very polarized.

How does this improve the world? Well done to the Sydney police for protecting people going about their daily lives from harassment. Seeking to cause confrontation for video views is abhorrent.
Specifically this video was to show whether no-go zones existed in Sydney. It does appear to affirm this question. The AU can do as they please, it's their Country. I recognize that the USA is the only Free Speech State in the world so it is not unexpected.

It isn't safe to criticize ANY religion if you come there with an attitude and you're surrounded with people whose lives are based on values sold by that religion. Some of us are not equipped with a belief-gene, and some with a common sense.
If I accept the premise of "You cannot criticize * religion without being met with violence" That is actually close to the point. You can criticize all ideas, and all who would physically assault you would be violating the non-aggression principle.

This is thoroughly abhorrent. Attacking peoples' cherished ideals in an abrasive and disrespectful manner is not just "free speech"–it is distastefully confrontation-seeking, callous, uncreative and destructive. Peepeth is about free, conscientious speech. Take this elsewhere.
If Free Speech means anything it means the right to criticize ideas. Peepeth is a DAPP so you have no authority to censor me either. Deal with it.
