Regular users also don't care about privacy or security in any way beyond the abstract "of course I care about privacy!", so using that as a selling point is a non-starter. If security or privacy make a person's life even slightly more difficult, they won't bother.
Blockchain technology should be completely transparent to the user. They should ideally have no idea they're using a dApp. Having to sign this and that, using obtrusive plugins like Metamask, etc, are never going to hook the average user. These things should be invisible.
After having spent 6 days in Poland with brilliant people from the crypto community, it's very clear to me that the biggest impediment to mass adoption isn't scalability, but usability. The current platforms are designed for nerds, not regular users.
