It’s the users data. It is in IPFS and anchored onchain. A user doesn’t need permission to use their own data. Again I am a user of peepeth. 🐧
Of course, good distinction!

And on selling data, if users could individually permission their data to be sold (and for them to get the proceeds) and were happy to do so, that presumably would be cool with Peepeth?

Welcome Shiv. Outside of financial transactions I prefer blockchain transaction fees abstracted for end users. Educating users that blockchain transaction fees go to miners and not dApps is hard. Related: dApps need to monetise. Though not by selling ads or user data.
Agreed --> Educating users that blockchain transaction fees go to miners and not dApps is hard.

So I too would much prefer abstraction. And there are plenty of solutions for this I guess (but none that I've seen in practise?!). But do you not worry that by making Peepeth appear free to users at this point, you'll be storing up trouble for the future?

Hi Andrew! I've been interacting with Peepeth (which I love btw) via the Streamr account. But thought it best to get my own account!
