Have a good trip.. Vacation or Business trip?

Thank you. Going on vacation there, followed by a jaunt to see family in Italy.

What would be the difference between ICO and crowdfunding? Legal obstacles in US, change in ownership model or something else? @bevan @zanzi

If they fold, one leaves you with a bunch of electronic tokens. The other only leaves you shattered hopes and dreams.

Just keep peeping. If you peep they will come. I love Peepeth (especially on mobile), great to see lots of new peepers. Congratulations to @bevan for building a great product in Peepeth.

Indeed, I raise my cup to @bevan.

(and doing it without an ICO or venture funding? That's x100 awesome)

Welcome!

Hope you're enjoying yourself in the UK. Peep if you'd like any suggestions!

Nice accoutrements and photo. Love inhabits that place and this captures it.

It is indeed very peaceful, especially with the sound of seagulls - interesting as we're nowhere near the sea!

Just waiting to cover the floor with fake grass now.

28 degrees in #London last night.
Perfect evening to park ourselves on the balcony. Candles, shish a, and drinks.

Jul 07, 2018 12:39

(2/2)

I look forward to a future in which miles from one airline are tokens that can be exchanged, with no middleman, for air mile tokens from any other airline.

Or where tokenized Tesla shares can be exchanged for tokenized Starbucks credit.

I like to think we'll get there.

Jul 06, 2018 11:19

(1/2)
Yesterday I booked a flight using reward miles. The process:

1) Converting points from one rewards site to the airline.
2) Moving points from another rewards scheme to the airline.
3) Doing the same for my gf.
4) "Pooling" our points.

The process took 5 days (cont.)

My story on decentralized apps, with a shoutout to Peepeth: https://www.forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2018/06/25/blockchain-decentralized-apps-dapps/#15a759ad23a7 Do you think a significant growth in dapps is just around the corner?

Just around the corner? No.
I would say we're looking at a couple of years down the line ATM.
Need to first solve issues such as identity management for mass adoption.
That said, we're way ahead than we were 12 months ago.

Thanks for the heads up. (And for the ryokan Google search you inspired!) No problems carrying cash - I just keep seeing articles about how Japan is really embracing crypto. Will certainly use it if I can. Any other Japan-trip tips?

Many!
Cheap good meals can be had at any convenience store.
Bad food is the exception.
Get a Pasmo card to pay for subway transit (and arcades!), keep a good balance on it.
The bamboo forest in Kyoto looks better in photos.
If visiting temples, be picky.

@Shigako How is crypto in Japan? I heard one can use BTC to buy things all over the place. I will be visiting this year and curious if I can also use ETH to pay for things... ? Thanks!

As a heads up, cash is king in Japan, especially if you go outside the cities.
I had to pay cash for a ryokan, and it was easily the most I've ever carried in my pocket.

Do you have any board game recommendations for kids of age group 7-10 (strategy and fun based) have monopoly, battleship, scrabble @jordanmessina @Zanzi

"Dixit" is a great game based on creative thinking for any age, although it doesn't involve much strategy.
"My first Carcassonne" seems to be a children's version of the classic.

There’s no shortage of book recommendations for those into blockchain & cryptocurrency, but how about board game recommendations? Mine would be Agricola, the game where if you feel like your strategy is working you’re probably overlooking something.

One of my faves, although I personally prefer Caverna.
My go-to lately has been Scythe.

Brock Pierce for one. His speech yesterday was really cocky and off putting. Also just their idea of a year long ICO and the amount of greed that what they can do to ETH and really the whole market with all their supply of wealth is disgusting... I was in a bad mood yesterday.

Same. Brock Pierce has always rubbed me the wrong way, to the point that even if he could guarantee a 1000% ROI, I wouldn't give him a cent, but would go to sleep happy with myself.

Hey peepers, unscientific poll time: what are your favorite dapps (except for Peepeth)? FYI I’m a journalist, so responses are “on the record,” although I guess that goes without saying when you’re posting publicly and permanently ...

Does MakerDAO count as a DApp?
If so, that's my vote.
They've managed to issue a stable coin backed by ETH instead of fiat, and an automated system to control its supply. It's magical.
